Achilles POV

I closed the door behind me, standing alone in the dark room. Lyla’s expression of pity irritated me more than anything else, followed by my uncle refusing to speak to me.

I did not want to be pitied.

I touched the necklace softly, a tear falling before I could stop it. Yasmine went there for me. To save me, to look after me.

And I killed her.

My uncle may have forgiven me, but I would never forgive myself, not for ever doing this to her. The bridled anger in his eyes, I knew if I was anyone else, I would be dead.

And I deserved it.

I stood in the middle of the room for God knows how long, shadows crawling around me. It has been years since I stood here, still everything was intact.

My brothers would leave their room in the night to come sleep with me, then my mum would find us here, and join us. It seemed do long ago, yet the black sheets I favoured were still straight in the bed.

I had to fix this. I could listen to my uncle, and we would leave tomorro
