Chapter 2

Author: TP
Dad's reply, as well as the stream of congratulations lighting up my phone screen, made me exhale in relief. Now, no one could deny that I had a mate, right?

As dusk deepened, Helena the Priestess asked everyone to turn off their phones for the duration of the ceremony. Then, she began handing out the ceremonial wine.

When it was my turn, the same thing happened as in my previous life. Another werewolf bumped into her, and the dark red wine sloshed over the rim and spilled onto my dress.

Kyle reacted instantly. He took the cloth from Helena's hands and gently wiped the wine from my dress.

"Moon Goddess, please forgive me. It was an honest mistake," Helena said in a fluster.

I patted her arm. "It's alright. He can handle it."

She visibly relaxed and even remarked with a hint of envy, "Your mate is really attentive."

I stared at Helena, who had spoken the exact words in my previous life. However, when Kyle had disappeared and I had asked her about it, she had looked at me in complete shock. "I thought you came alone."

To prevent that from recurring, I caught her wrist and smiled. "Actually, can you do me a favor?"

She looked puzzled. "What is it?"

I told her I wanted to document every moment of tonight, since it was Kyle's and my first time attending the ceremony together. I took out my phone and asked, "Could the three of us take a picture together?"

She agreed almost instantly, "Of course."

And so, Kyle, Helena, and I stood together and posed. After saving the photo, my gaze shifted to Elder Thomas Darkwood. He was one of the pack's enforcers.

In my previous life, while he was preparing for the ceremony, he nearly slipped and fell. It was Kyle who had caught him in time. I clearly remembered Elder Thomas thanking Kyle repeatedly.

Thus, when I had to ask if the pack members had seen Kyle, I had gone to him first. However, he had insisted that I had been alone the entire time.

This time, I walked over and tapped his arm. "Elder Thomas."

He turned around to meet my eyes. "What is it, child?"

I squeezed out a smile as I pointed toward Kyle. "I'd like to hear what you think of my mate, Kyle. Dad hasn't met him yet, and I'm a little worried."

Elder Thomas studied Kyle briefly, then nodded with satisfaction. "His eyes are clear, and there's strength in him. He'll make a fine mate. I'm sure your father will be pleased."

After thanking him, I fell into deep thought.

Elder Thomas and Helena both seemed completely normal, without the slightest sign of deceit. So, what exactly was the problem? Why, in my previous life, had they both sworn they had never seen Kyle?

Determined to make Kyle's presence impossible to ignore, I stood up and pulled him to his feet beside me. Under his puzzled gaze, I raised my voice and spoke to everyone present, "Packmates, forgive my interruption.

"Tonight is a sacred night for me, as I've come here with my mate to affirm our bond. We've been together for three years, so being able to share this moment under the full moon means everything to me.

"I hope all of you will witness our union and give us your blessing."

Everyone in the clearing turned to look at us. Without hesitation, they voiced their support, "May the Moon Goddess bless your bond!"

Warmth spread through the pack like a gentle tide. Even Kyle was smiling, too.

After thanking everyone, he quickly pulled me back down to our place and whispered, "Nora, what's going on with you tonight?"

The tips of his ears were comically red. "The announcement and all that… I got a little embarrassed."

I gripped his hands. "I'm just afraid of losing you."

Everyone had witnessed this moment, so nothing should be able to go wrong anymore, right?

"I didn't," I replied. "Because I know what would happen if I did."I looked straight at Lydia with a blank face. "Kyle didn't tell you, did he?"Her expression shifted instantly."If I had destroyed it, the curse would've been transferred to me," I said. "Once that happened, you'd gain nothing in return."She stared at the crystal vial, her lips quivering. At that moment, Dad and several elders hurried over. Garrett was leading the way. When he saw me, he visibly relaxed. "Nora, you're here."I handed Dad the crystal vial and told them everything—the old she-wolf, Lydia, Kyle, the other dimension, and what was truly sealed inside the vial. After hearing it all, Dad remained silent for a long time."So, what about the pack's memories?" I asked. "Will they eventually remember?"The oldest elder answered instead, "The Full Moon Erasure Spell can only last for one lunar cycle. After sunrise, the erased memories will slowly return. They might not remember Kyle tonight, but tomorro

"It's always been here," I repeated.Kyle looked at me in silence for a moment, then let out a sigh. The smile slowly faded from his face. "When did you figure it out?""Earlier," I answered. "There's a line in the book that I didn't forget. 'If the vessel is destroyed by the hand of the cursed one's closest kin, the curse shall pass to the destroyer.' You needed me to destroy it so the curse would transfer to me."I scoffed. "By then, everyone will forget me, just like how they forgot you."He didn't deny it."Why?" I questioned.Kyle stayed silent for a long time before finally speaking, explaining, "Your dad never trusted me. For three years, he treated me like an outsider. Even if we did go through the ceremony, nothing would change. He'd never truly accept me."When the pack turned on me and kicked me out, no one could offer me help. Do you know how much I hated that?"His voice grew sharper, anger flashing across his face in a way I had never seen before."Then, you appe

Ripples spread across the surface of the sacred spring. A moment later, the water began to glow. A powerful force surged up from the depths and pulled me in.I didn't even have time to struggle before the icy water swallowed me whole. The world around me twisted and warped. Slowly, reality faded from sight. In its place appeared a gray, empty realm. It was colorless and quiet, like a void. I had arrived in another dimension.I shifted back into human form, standing on what felt like solid ground in the middle of the void. The crystal vial was gone. I looked around desperately, with only one thought filling my mind.I had to find Kyle, recover the vial, and bring him home."Kyle!" I shouted into the emptiness. "Kyle, where are you?"I stood up and began walking forward. There was nothing here but drifting gray mist. Time felt strange, like it had stopped moving.Just as despair began creeping in, a blurry figure appeared amid the mist. My heart started pounding. I ran toward it.

I lay awake in Lydia's guest room, too restless to sleep. Only after I was fairly sure she had dozed off did I slip quietly into the living room.I lifted the photo frame, opened the hidden compartment on the back, and saw the crystal vial resting there, still and gleaming. I reached for it, my fingertips just brushing the cool surface…"What do you think you're doing?"Lydia's voice came from behind me. I spun around and saw her standing at the top of the stairs."I knew you weren't here for good," she said, descending. "You found out, didn't you?"I took a step back, my fingers tightening around the vial, going silent. She stopped in front of me, and her eyes twisted with malice. "What makes you think you deserve Kyle? Right now, he's trapped in another dimension. Only I can reach him. Soon, he'll forget you and love me instead."I clenched my fists. "You're insane! Kyle will never love you!""Then, he shall stay there forever," she said with a sneer. "It's not like you can s

I had to close my eyes and focus, forcing my mind to recall Lydia.Three years ago, when Kyle and I had confirmed our bond, she suddenly left the pack, claiming she was going elsewhere to study healing arts.Could she have secretly been in love with Kyle all this time? I needed to know for sure.I sprinted toward Lydia's home, on the eastern side of the pack territory. As I approached, a light glowed from the first-floor window. I crept silently to the window and peered through the narrow gap in the curtains.Inside the living room, Lydia sat on the couch. Several books lay open on the table, their covers etched with runes that I couldn't understand. A black wooden box rested nearby—a tool of dark magic. So, it was her! Lydia cast the spell!I waited for a few minutes. She finished her drink, stood up, and headed toward the stairs.Seizing the opportunity, I slipped inside her house and moved quickly to the table. I grabbed the books and flipped through them, searching for anyth

The stone cell was pitch black. I sank against the wall, my mind a maelstrom. Where had Kyle gone?I replayed every moment repeatedly. When the ground shook, he had been right beside me, only to vanish into thin air the next second. Every trace of his existence had been erased, and the pack's memories had been altered.Clearly, someone was deliberately erasing Kyle. But who and why?A rustling sound came from the darkness. I shot up, every sense on high alert. "Who's there?"There was no answer, just the sound growing closer, mixed with heavy, labored breathing.Suddenly, glowing eyes appeared in the blackness. It was the mad wolves, the very same creatures who had torn me apart to death in my previous life.As they crept closer, I instantly shifted into my wolf and bared my fangs. Then, one lunged. I twisted to dodge, but the space in the cell was too tight. Another claw raked across my leg, tearing a gash.It was then that a raspy, old voice echoed from the depths of the cell
