Marvin
Today would finally be the day.
I was finally going to meet the person I just couldn’t stop thinking about. Elena Torres.
“The wedding is not today. It’s tomorrow.”
I turned around to look at Tiago, who leaned against the door. “For how long have you been standing there?”
Even though we were both staying at my parents’, it was quite a surprise that he even came to visit me. “I’ve seen you change your shirt about six times.” He admitted as he walked in further.
“Tell
Elena“Come on, just work along for once!” Tori scolded me as she forced her nose underneath my armpits.I could hardly believe that I was just an hour away from meeting the potential love of my life, Marvin. It was already surprising that a goody-two-shoes like me was able to look past all the charges so that I could be with him. What if he would bail on me?What if this was just one of his stupid jokes?“You smell like roses. Let’s keep it that way.” Tori smiled as she placed her hands on my shoulder. She had stopped by my house to do my makeup because apparently, I sucked at it. Usually, I would complain, but this time
Elena“You’re perfect...you literally look...drawn.” I gulped. It hadn’t even been a second, and I had already made a fool out of myself. Marvin snorted at my cringe-worthy comment and brushed his hand against my arm.“Lena.” Marvin smiled. “I know you said you’d heard it before, but you look...perfect.”I felt my heart melt at his comment and took a tiny step back, so I could finally release the breath I had been holding back. I was finally able to see him from up close. My eyes traveled from his thick dark brown curls to his thick, soft, angled eyebrows. He had beautiful narrow almond eyes, which were colored in a beautiful dark brown. H
Elena “I’m sorry, is my smacking annoying you?” I asked, embarrassed as I dropped my fork. I had an urge to enjoy my food but now was not the time. Marvin watching my every move made me nervous. He was someone who was not afraid of eye contact, not even when I caught him staring. “It’s okay. Just be yourself.” “So tell me about yourself. What do you do?” Marvin asked. It was a question that I hated the most because I really wasn’t that much different from a loser. “Oh, uh,” I mumbled as I tried to give him an answer. “I live with my dad. I work at a cocktail bar. I like watching movies...that’s about it.” “Where is your mom?”
Elena“Girl, why the hell wasn’t you picking up your phone!” Victoria waited for me in the driveway. I rushed out of the car and flew into her arms.“Did you get the memo? Did you know that Marvin of yours killed your dad’s partner—agent Maddens?”“H-he what?” I freaked out. Tori’s cruel way of speaking wasn’t that much of a help. I slowly put two and two together as I connected the missing puzzle piece to Marvin’s prison sentence. Did I really go to dinner with the killer of my dad’s best friend?“I—he—I didn’t know!” I hyperventilated. It was quite a surprise that I was able to drive
MarvinBetrayed. If I had to describe my feelings in one word, that would’ve been it. One day had passed since Elena had bailed on me and left me at the restaurant, and for some strange reason, it had been bothering me.Today was Tiago’s special day, and we were all gathered at the church to prepare for the wedding ceremony, which was only a few hours away. I tried to be on my best behavior, but I was not really excited for the ceremony, the reception, or the after-party.All groomsmen were gathered in a room, including Tiago’s geeky friends from his school days. Although I couldn’t stand the sight of them, I had to admit that I envied my little brother for being able to maintain such tight r
Marvin“Calm down. It’s me!” Victor growled. I stared my adoptive brother in the eyes and pushed him against the wall. “All the more reason to choke you!”I squeezed my hand around his throat for a split second, before releasing him as I did not want to ruin Tiago’s day. There was nothing more which I wanted than to kill this father-stealing bastard, but that would have to wait.“Where is dad?”Victor let out a cough and held his hand against the wall as he caught his breath. “You sick motherfucker, they should’ve kept you in your cage!”I rolled my eyes at Victor’s way of overre
Elena“You look gorgeous, Elena!” My dad gushed as he pulled out his camera and started taking pictures. I took an awkward stance and hid my face in embarrassment.“Dad, this dress is hideous,” I told him. “Aren’t you supposed to tell me to take it off and to cover myself up? It's a church wedding.”“For what?” He laughed. “Who am I to tell you what a woman should and shouldn’t wear? Now smile so I can take a pretty picture.”My heart grew soft at my dad’s normal behavior, which he hadn’t shown in a while. He took the time to wear a suit and to do his hair and it had been a long time since he looked this decen
Elena “Oh my god,” I gasped, surprised as I exited the vehicle and stared at the fairytale-like venue in front of me. It literally seemed as if I had jumped straight into a storybook. Right in front of my eyes was a gorgeous white church building, which seemed like the perfect location for a wedding. I looked at my surroundings and noticed the streets were filled with several fancy cars, which belonged to the guests. For the most part, it seemed like the guests were also well off, and if I wouldn’t have listened to Victoria and would’ve shown up in my usual outfit, it would’ve been a complete disaster. It was clear that Anya and Tiago went full out. “Elena!” I looked ahead and waved my hand enthusiastically at Rona, who ran down the stairs. There was still a lot we had to take care of for the reception and after-party and had she not been there, it would’ve been a lot to figure out on my own. It was strange to se
