Chapter Six

Derrick’s pov

I should have held myself. I never wanted to have sex with that woman, even as she knew I was tipsy she should have left me, she acts so weak, always trying to make excuses for everything.

Why would she claim she is pregnant all of a sudden? This is the reason why I hate her, everything you do with her doesn’t go right.

I can’t be the father of that child, that woman is trying to frame me. Or is she doing all of this not to get divorced? What a shame.

I sat on my bed wondering. But what if I am also the father of this child? If we eventually divorce, it may not be so good for the child.

What should I do? This won’t deprive me from marry my Mia. After all these years of living with heartbreak she came back to me as a changed person with a clean heart but she came quite late. I was already married to Zora.

But that won’t stop me from loving her.

I slept with so many thoughts running through my mind.

The next morning came by quickly and I was preparing for work as usual.

I heard a knock on my door and who walked in was Zora.

What does she want again? I’m not in the mood for any of her talk right now.

“What are you doing here?” I asked her while I knotted my tie properly.

“The divorce papers, I'm here to sign them.” She blurted out. I was quite surprised, I wasn’t expecting those words to leave her mouth.

I still couldn’t believe she was really carrying my child and I also want the divorce so badly.

But what if this child is really mine. She could just stay and have the baby.

I told her what needs to be done but she didn’t respond, rather walked away afterwards.

I don’t care what decision she makes.

I left my room after getting ready, packed my breakfast because I was running late and left the house.

She didn’t even come downstairs while my breakfast was packed by the maid, that’s unlike her and that’s also a relief.

An hour later I got to the office, trying to settle a few things.

My thoughts always drive back to Zora claiming she is pregnant.

What would I tell Mia now? I promised her I was going to divorce Zora but now  this situation has arised what should I do?

Immediately I heard a knock on the door and Mia walked in.

“My love, I have missed you.” She walked up to me and kissed my lips.

The sensational urge to hold her tight and not let her go flooded my body.

Mia once broke my heart so severely that it made me go into strong alcoholic drinks. I felt so miserable then because she was actually my first love.

I celebrate the day I met her at the bar after the misery she put me through. Mia changed to be the woman I wanted her to be and that made my love grow more rapidly for her. She is the only woman I want to see next to me when I wake up and before I go to bed.

“Over the weekend I spent my entire time thinking about you.” I smiled at her as she sat on my lap.

And she laughed a little.

“So is it done yet?” She asked, I was sure it’s about the divorce and I can’t tell her now that Zora is pregnant. She might be so angry. After telling her I haven’t even touched Zora, she will tag me as a liar, so I need to keep that a secret for now.

“Uhmm, about that we have discussed it but my lawyer isn’t in the states for now. So I’ll wait till he is  back.” I lied to brush the talk over.

“You can go for another lawyer, I want her out of that house as quickly as possible. I just can’t wait to be your wife.” She cried out.

I also can’t wait for her to leave but with this on ground I don’t know what to do anymore.

“I can’t wait too.” I smiled and she caressed my beards and stood up.

“You’ve had breakfast?” I asked her.

“Yes I have and you have a meeting by 11am, so I’ll go prepare for it.” She said and I nodded with a smile on my lips.

“Alright, I’ll see you soon, I love you.” I answered.

“I love you more, more, more.” She chuckled and left.

The evening dawned so fast and it was already time to close.

I took some of the necessary documents I’ll be needing at home and left my office heading to Mia’s office. I gave a knock before going in.

“So should we go grab dinner before going home?” I asked as I got close to her desk.

“You sound like we are going home together.” She rolled her eyes as she picked up her bag. Her reply made me laugh.

“Very soon, okay?” I responded and we both left. We went to a restaurant and had time together. I love it whenever I am with her. We were done and it was getting late already so I drove her to her house.

Driving back home to see  Zora as usual on the couch waiting for nobody knows who.

I got home finally after the long drive and walked in. To my greatest surprise she wasn’t in the living room.

It’s better she just stop with the drama. I walked into my room and changed up to go have my bath and something on my bed quickly catched my attention, I picked it up and discovered it was divorce papers.

I saw Zora’s signature written on them, I was shocked and confused at once.

I went  to her room and found out that she wasn’t there anymore and I laughed a little.

This woman was trying to play tricks on me, so the baby she claims that I am responsible for wasn’t really from me. That might be the reason she left.

This is the only thing she has done that made me impressed. I’ll just sign this tomorrow and send it to my lawyer.

And in the next two weeks I’ll have Mia as my wife.

This is great news.
