The next morning, Mary woke up to the empty space on the bed.

Where could he be?

She wondered, a small frown forming on her face.

She got out of bed and headed into the bathroom to freshen up.

A few minutes later, she descended the stairs.

The entire Lipton family was gathered in the living room, chatting among themselves.

The moment she stepped down, Matthew was the first to notice her.

He smiled warmly.

“Well, look who’s here. Sister-in-law! Welcome, welcome.”

He said it in a playful tone.

Mary stared at the closed door for a long time. She sighed and folded her hands.“You wouldn’t be back for Grandpa’s birthday party,” she muttered. She walked to the window and pulled the curtains aside. The headlights of Alexander’s car were already disappearing down the driveway. Her fingers brushed the cold glass as if she could still reach him.“Be safe,” she whispered.A knock sounded on the door.Mary quickly closed the curtains, then walked to the door and opened it.Butler Brooks stood there, holding a cup of warm milk.“Greetings, young miss.”Mary was not in the mood to talk or entertain anyone. She only gave a slight nod in response.“The young master asked me to prepare this for you.”He handed the cup of milk to her.Mary accepted it, surprise flickering across her face.“Did he say anything to you before leaving?”“Yes, he did. He asked me to take good care of you while he is away. He also said I should inform you to go and rest. It is getting late, and while he is away,

Alexander and Mary arrived home later in the night. They were welcomed by the heavy silence of the entire mansion.Mary muttered in a low voice,“Where is everyone? That’s weird… it’s just past ten and everyone is already asleep.”Alexander, standing beside her, whispered,“That is not important. We are home now, and I can finally do the crazy things I’ve been wanting to do to you.”Mary’s cheeks warmed instantly.“Why are you whispering?” she asked.Alexander shrugged his shoulders.“I don’t know. You whispered first.”Mary hit him playfully on the arm.“I’m going upstairs. I need to freshen up and rest. You should do the same.”Alexander smirked.“Says the girl who was crying for my attention earlier today.”“I didn’t!” Mary protested, her voice rising slightly as she pouted like a child.Alexander raised an eyebrow.“You know I told you not to say a word until you are under me on the sheets.”Mary groaned and covered her face with her hands.“Can you stop talking about all this? Yo

Mary panicked, her voice trembling.“Wh… what are you doing?”Alexander raised an eyebrow at her.“What do you think I am doing, hmm?”He leaned closer and rested his head in the crook of her neck.Mary squirmed, trying to shake herself free from his hold.Alexander frowned.“Stop moving. Let’s just stay here for a few seconds,” he said in a low, husky voice.Mary went still. She didn’t protest or throw another tantrum. She simply let him rest his head against her neck. They remained like that, silence filling the room.Beatrice walked to the entrance. When she saw the sight before her, a small smile formed on her lips. She cleared her throat.Mary and Alexander, lost in their own world, immediately reacted to the sound.Alexander straightened his outfit and turned to her, bowing slightly.“Mom.”Beatrice’s smile widened as she pretended to be oblivious.“Oh, you are here?”“I wasn’t expecting you to come around, especially since your wife showed up here unannounced.”She glanced at M

When he got back to his mansion, he stepped out of his car. Butler Brooks hurried out to greet him. “Young master, you are back.” Alexander glanced at him. “Is the young miss back?” Butler Brooks looked at him in confusion. “Aren’t you both supposed to come back together?” Alexander didn’t respond. He dragged a hand over his face, exhaustion written all over him. “Gosh… where on earth did you run off to, Mary?” Butler Brooks’ brows knitted in worry. “Young master, is everything alright between you and the young miss?” Alexander shook his head slowly. “I have to find my wife. If she comes home, call me.” Without waiting for a response, he turned, got back into his car, and sped off. Butler Brooks remained where he stood, bewildered. “What could have happened now?” he muttered under his breath. Mary returned to the Andison Villa. She stood in front of the door and pressed the bell. No one responded. She pressed the bell again. Beatrice came rushin

Alexander drew Mary closer to him until there was no space left between them.He kissed her passionately.Mary returned the kiss, her eyes closing as her fingers clutched his shirt tightly.Alexander’s eyes, which had been closed, slowly opened. He looked at Mary, and the fire in his gaze deepened. He bit her lower lip lightly, causing her to flinch.A devilish smirk appeared on his face.Mary opened her eyes.Feeling his intense gaze on her, heat rushed to her cheeks. She lowered her head and lightly hit his chest.“Why are you smiling like that?” she asked.Alexander didn’t take offense. Instead, he continued smiling at her reaction.“Didn't you want to go home?” he asked.Mary nodded.“Let's go then.”He directed her toward where he had parked his car.Alexander opened the passenger door for her.Mary hesitated, biting her finger nervously.Alexander noticed her hesitation and raised a brow.“What is it?”“Aren't we going to inform Mum that we are leaving?”Alexander gently tapped

Matthew stared at Alexander, his brows raised as he waited to hear more from his brother.Alexander did not respond. He simply looked at Matthew and said,“I thought you were leaving.”Matthew sighed, placing his hands on his hips.“I thought you were going to answer my question.”“I don't have an answer for you,” Alexander said, closing the document open in front of him.“Whatever. I’m out.”Matthew turned and walked out of the office. The moment he closed the door behind him, the room went quiet. The only sound that remained was the soft tapping of Alexander’s fingers against the table as he sank into his thoughts.Matthew stepped out of the company building. He glanced at his watch, then pulled out his phone and dialled a number.“Why aren't you here yet? I’m waiting outside for you.”A male voice from the other end replied,“I’ll be there soon.”Matthew ended the call and tilted his head toward the sky, drawing in a long breath of fresh air.“I need to drink my stress away today.”
