Chapter 49: Don't Ever Try this Again

Damien's POV

I was back in my room, getting a few things so I could go back to the hospital to be with Ariana. Some sort of excitement surged through me. First, I was glad, the accident at the mine site was not orchestrated by Ariana and secondly, I was happy, I was free to love her.

Damien, something doesn't feel right. Kai complained.

"What is it?" I asked, my eyes glowing red and the smile vanishing from my face.

No time to explain. We must go to our mate now. It doesn't feel like she is in danger, but something is not right with her. Our pup is terrified. Kai reported.

I picked up my phone and dialled Michael's number.

"Michael, get the car, pick up my stuff from my room and bring it to the hospital," I instructed. "Make sure Victoria does not stay in my room. By my order, get the guards to throw her out of my mansion if she fails to leave by herself," I added and ended the call.

I exited the room and changed the locking code again. I sent the new code to Michael before heading for the staircase. I met Eve at the staircase.

"I hope everything is okay," Eve asked with concern.

"Everything is fine. I just need to check on something asap. Please, get Victoria out of my mansion. She is not my mate and was never my mate. I would explain when I get back," I said, and hurried towards the door, leaving Eve staring at my back.

I knew she had so many questions, but I didn't have the time. The urgency I felt in my spirit tells me something bad was about to happen. I need to get to the hospital asap. I stood in the elevator and dialled Dr Francis's number. It rang multiple times, but no answer.

"Fvck!" I cursed.

The guards I left behind did not have a phone. I left with the two lead guards. I called the hospital reception.

"Get someone to check on Ariana Brown, asap. She is in the restroom inside my office. If you get there, call me if the guards give you a hard time," I instructed.

The elevator door opened, and I exited. I shifted into my wolf immediately after dropping my phone inside the car and headed for the hospital. It was the only way I could increase my normal speed. I arrived at the hospital and entered the premises. It was late. The security men made way for me, recognising my wolf. I headed for the space behind the hospital. I intended to shift and get some clothes from the wardrobe there. It was another space reserved for me, and hence no one would dare come there. I walked in my majestic beast form, paying close attention to my environment. I saw a white knotted cloth hanging on the side of the wall as soon as I approached the space. I traced it up with my gaze, wondering where it was coming from. I heard the scream and saw Ariana falling.

I moved back and launched forward with full force. I climbed the side of the wall and pushed myself up, aiming to catch her mid-air. My move was successful, and I caught her with my mouth. I spun around and fell to the ground on my back, still holding her in my mouth. Due to the size of my wolf, I ended up destroying a few things in the space. I stood to my feet, and the noise attracted a few of the staff to the place, but they left immediately, seeing my wolf. I gently lay Ariana on the ground and pushed her side with my muzzle, but there was no response from her. With the size of my beast form, she looked so small. I shifted back to my human form. I looked at the destruction I had caused with my landing. I realised I had a wound on my shoulder. I landed on something which broke and pierced my back. I was not bothered, as the wound began to heal. I moved to one of the cupboards. Opened it and found something to cover my nakedness. After, I went back to Ariana and quickly checked for any wounds. I was glad, I didn't wound her, catching her mid-air with my mouth. I carried her and used the back door into the hospital. I used the elevator and got to my office floor. As soon as I stepped out of the elevator, I came face to face with one of the hospital staff. He was now coming to check on Ariana. I frowned.

"Get Dr Francis here asap," I said to him.

"Dr Francis is in the theatre. We had an emergency," he reported, trembling.

"Get me another doctor, asap," I ordered angrily, and he left immediately.

"You two are fired," I said angrily to the guards standing at the door.

One opened the door for me. I walked in and stood at the entrance facing the guards.

"I asked you to guard her, and this is the best job you could do?" I questioned angrily, still carrying unconscious Ariana in my arms. "Return everything belonging to me in your possession and get lost," I yelled at them.

They both left immediately. I kicked the door closed with my feet and walked towards the couch. I laid Ariana on it and opened the door. I came back for her and took her to the bedroom. I saw the knotted cloth rope tied around the foot of the bed, travelling into the bathroom. I sighed and lay Ariana on the bed.

I untied the knotted cloth and pulled the rest of it into the room. I slid the window in the bathroom closed and equally closed the bathroom door. I adjusted the temperature in the room. I heard a knock and I invited the person in.

"Good evening, Alpha," the doctor greeted.

"I am Dr Jones. I am here to attend to the patient," Dr Jones introduced, and I stared at him.

I knew every employee in the hospital, but I didn't know him.

"You are new," I said, staring at him.

"Yes, Alpha," he replied.

"How new are you?" I asked.

"A week," he replied.

"Herh!" I said, and permitted him to attend to Ariana.

He has been here for a week, and the employees' record has not been updated on my end; someone is losing their job today.

I stood there watching him closely as he attended to Ariana.

"There is no physical wound on her body, aside from what looks like cane marks on her back. I would have a thorough examination done to ensure internally everything is fine," Dr Jones reported. "At the moment, she appears to be in shock. She would wake up. Give her some time," he reported.

"About the thorough examination, how soon would you put in the request for that?" I asked.

"As soon as I leave here," he replied.

"When would Dr Francis be done with whatever he is doing in the theatre?" I asked.

"It was an emergency surgery supposed to last an hour. He should be done and out now," he reported, checking his time.

"Good," I said. "Return to your duties and ask him to see me asap," I added.

"Yes, Alpha," he replied, and quickly left my presence.

I entered the bathroom and took a quick shower to take the wolf scent off me. I went into the cupboard room and realised all the bedsheets had been taken out.

She attempted to jump out the window using a knotted bedsheet rope. I thought and opened my wardrobe and found something to wear. There was a knock on the door as soon as I returned to the bedroom.

"Alpha, you sent for me," Dr Francis reported.

"You have a new staff member, and my records have not been updated with his details for a week. I want the record guy's contract terminated immediately," I ordered. "I see he is tired of his job," I added. "The unknown doctor requested a thorough medical examination on Ariana. I want you to handle that. No one must know, she is human. Do you understand?" I instructed.

"Yes, Alpha," Dr Francis acknowledged, and I dismissed him.

As soon as he opened the door, Michael entered with my stuff.

"I want those two guards' appointments terminated. Give them their full benefit for this month and have them leave immediately," I instructed Michael.

"Yes, Alpha," he replied.

"Is Victoria out of my mansion?" I asked.

"Yes, alpha, but your brother returned to the mansion," he reported. "His apartment caught fire," he added.

"I see," I replied and dismissed Michael.

I walked to the bed and made Ariana lie on her side because of the bruises on her back. I carefully removed the patient gown and put it back on her, keeping her back exposed. I picked up the ointment and, after cleaning her back, I applied it again. After I was done, I sat on the side of the bed, staring at Ariana's face.

It was midnight when Ariana finally opened her eyes.

"You attempted to run away by jumping out of the window. Had I not arrived here on time, you would have died," I said to her, and she stared at me with regret in her eyes. "Don't ever try this again," I added, and she nodded.

"I didn't mean to scare you," I said in a gentle voice, seeing she was just staring at me in silence. "If I did, I am sorry," I apologised, and she stared at me like I had said the strangest thing ever.

I heard my phone ring and I knew Michael brought my phone, which I had dropped in the car at home, so I could shift into my wolf, to me.

"Excuse me," I said to Ariana and walked to the table where I had heard the sound.

It was Eve calling. I answered, knowing he was about to inform me about my brother moving back into the mansion.

"Damien, Dad is here and he came with Victoria," she reported, and I frowned.

Jeremy's POV"Would you take me back, knowing I am carrying Alpha Damien's child?" Ariana asked me, and I stared at her, wondering what she took me for. This girl must think I am stupid. She wants me to take her back. I thought. But come to think of it, why would she say Alpha Damien is responsible? I thought, but it quickly hit me. There was no way I could confirm her story. Wow! Ariana, you are smart with your lies. I thought, but I kept a straight face. I will play along till I get her in my bed."You are my woman, and I still love you," I said. "My only problem is, it's Alpha Damien we are talking about. How do I hide you from him?" I asked, trying to see if she had already planned a way to escape, whoever the father of the child she is carrying is. She went silent. I patiently waited, believing she was thinking of something."Jeremy, I think, it's too late for us. I had thought we could get back together. But he always finds me. It doesn't matter where I am. He finds me. I don't

  • The Chosen Human Luna   Chapter 56: It's Too Late - Part 1

Jeremy's POVI was still mad at Ariana for cheating on me, but seeing her again, I wish I had never married Melody. It's only been four days since I started working in the company, and I have had the opportunity to see Ariana twice. She looked more beautiful than before. Even though I wished I had never married Melody, there was nothing I could do about it. She was already six weeks pregnant, and I am responsible. That mistake I made six weeks ago, allowing my desire to take the better of me.This was all Ariana's fault. If she had allowed me to touch her, instead of playing Virgin Mary, waiting to be married before, I wouldn't have yielded to Melody's seduction. That day, I was horny. I went to Ariana, and she was not ready. I left the apartment to cool off at a nearby club, and that was when I ran into Melody. I had always known, Melody's fight with Ariana was just because she liked me, but I was with Ariana. Melody did attempt to drug me, but I saw it, so I didn't take that drink

  • The Chosen Human Luna   Chapter 55: Do You Have a Death Wish?

Ariana's POV"Damien, you can't take away a girl's virginity and expect another man to accept her like that. If you didn't want to marry her, you should have kept your pants zipped up," I heard Alpha Leo say, and I stared at Victoria, sitting directly opposite us, looking all pitiful."Damien, at first, I wanted to be with you because I like you, but I realised you didn't, so I decided to keep my distance, waiting to see if you like me for me or because of the mate bond. That was why I was mostly not around," I heard Victoria say. "I am sorry for everything I did, I only did them because I loved you. That night, I came into your room after reflecting on what you told me. I wanted to inform you that I was going back home, but you grabbed me and wouldn't let go. I may be in the entertainment industry, but I kept myself away from men. Now, you have taken that away from me," she ended her statement in tears. My heart went out to her. I shifted my gaze to Damien, only to find him rolling h

  • The Chosen Human Luna   Chapter 54: You Must Take Responsibility

Ariana's POVDamien's proposal left me shocked. Everything was happening so fast, I really couldn't understand. Yes, I liked him when I first saw him, but now, it's like he suddenly cares about me, not because of the pregnancy. And I don't know what kind of cologne he is using now, but I believe it has an aphrodisiac effect. I have never felt this before, to the extent that I can't even control myself. What does he want from me? I thought as we exited the room. What is all this about? I thought. He wouldn't let go of my hand, and it was like he didn't care who saw us walking hand in hand like lovers. With my thoughts trying to figure out what was happening to me, my desires were kept at bay, and I felt normal. We were soon outside, and I wanted to go to the SUV, but he pulled me towards his car, opened the door for me, and I got inside, still wondering what was happening. Inside the car, sitting so close to him, the feeling started again. His scent was so comforting, yet it aroused

  • The Chosen Human Luna   Chapter 53: I would Gladly Step Down

Damien's POVI lay on the bed with Ariana sleeping in my arms. I have never felt this way about a woman before. I felt complete with her. She was truly my mate. I stared at the cane injuries on her back and remembered something my mom told me when I was 13 years old. She told me there are healers in her family line. It comes as a blessing, and one lucky child becomes a healer. It sounded so fascinating. An ability to heal others. It was an ability I yearned for. Not because I wanted to be special, but because of my human best friend, Jayson. We met in school. He was always sick. He spends half a day in school and the rest of the day in the hospital. He was unable to participate in any school activities because he would end up having episodes and end up in the hospital. I wanted to be a healer so that I could heal him. I felt so sad when I saw him sitting all alone during fun games. Sometimes, I stop playing and just sit by him, so he won't feel left out. My mom had told me I was a sp

  • The Chosen Human Luna   Chapter 52: Unexpected Proposal

Ariana's POVI opened my eyes and the first thing I saw was the ceiling. I shifted my gaze to the side and realised I was alone in bed. I dragged myself into a sitting position, rubbing my eyes. While rubbing my eyes, I recalled the events of the previous night. My attempted escape, the huge beast that caught me mid-air, Damien's confession, the passionate kisses, and finally sleeping in Damien's arms. My eyes scanned the entire room for anything that would prove Damien was here or that he was still around, but I found nothing. My eyes fell on a covered tray sitting on the table. Surprisingly, I felt better and stronger. I looked down at myself, and I was still in the patient gown with my back exposed. I reached for my back and I didn't feel any pain, like before. To get a confirmation of how my back looked now, I got out of bed and walked to the standing mirror in the room. I looked at my back, and the wounds had healed. All that was left were scars. I stared at my back in total sh
