Zack’s POV

If you had told me three months ago that I'll be standing in a rose garden at sunset, rehearsing words I’d never say to Niina, I would’ve laughed in your faceyiu know,

But there I was, pacing like an idiot, clutching a velvet box like it was a grenade.

Niina,

She wasn’t like the women Ethan surrounded himself with, She didn’t need diamonds or limelight... She just had this way of showing up messy bun, ink-stained fingers, always smelling like tea leaves and making everything else in the room disappear.

I didn’t realize I was in trouble until I started missing her silence more than other people’s conversations.

And now? I was in deep.

Deeper than I’d ever planned to go.

“Still rehearsing, or planning to plant that ring?” Cleff’s voice cut through the twilight like a blade.

I stiffened.

Of course he would show up.

The man was a ghost with steel-toed boots, quiet until he wasn’t, dangerous without even trying. And lately, he’d been orbiting Niina like a damn moon.

Charles POVThe piano room smelled of sandalwood and secrets.Charles stood by the window, staring out at the Stanford estate’s gardens while rain tapped gently on the glass, a rhythm that reminded him of the lullabies his mother used to hum before reality silenced her voice..Now, there was only the music of memories and the weight of promises he hadn’t yet kept.Behind him, the soft footsteps of Kara broke the quiet.“I thought I would locate you here,” she said softly, entering without permission. She donned a lengthy cream sweater, her curls tied back, her eyes keen yet gentle. Charles didn't turn right away. "Certain rooms resemble individuals." They are not your choice. “They select you.” Kara halted a short distance from him, observing the wide span of his shoulders, the rigidity in his posture. "You've seemed aloof recently." Not only with me. "Along with everyone." “I’ve been contemplating.” She inclined her head. "Risky pastime." A grin appeared at the edge of his mouth,

Cleff’s POVShe laughed and it shook me.I heard it across the garden wall, light and carefree...Niina rarely laughed like that, at least, not around me.And definitely not because of me.I lingered in the shadows beneath the cedar tree, watching her and Zack. They looked… good together.Too good. The sapphire bracelet shinned on her wrist as she brushed her hair back, her eyes were glowing beneath the soft garden lights. He leaned close and whispered something, and then she tilted her head toward him like gravity favored him now.I should’ve walked away. But I didn’t.Couldn’t....For months, I told myself I was just her protector. Leena had ordered me to watch over Niina, and I followed the assignment like every other silent, precise and detached. But somewhere along the way, the lines became blurred. And now?Now I was standing here, watching a woman I never planned to fall for… slip through my fingers.Again...The moon was climbing high when I left the gardens, I walked the estat

Kara’s POVI always thought loyalty was simple. You find your people, you love them, and you stand by them... But loyalty gets messy when secrets creep in... And right now, I had a storm of secrets swarming around me.Leena was like a sister to me, I watched her grow from a shy girl with bruised dreams to a queen standing beside Ethan Grayson, powerful and glowing like a star that finally found its sky.And still… part of me missed the Leena who used to hide under my wing.I pressed my forehead to the cold mirror in the powder room of the Stanford estate..My reflection looked tired not from lack of sleep, but from carrying too much. Then I heard his voice behind me.“You look like a woman trying to hold the world on her shoulders.”I turned slowly.Willis,I hadn’t seen him in months, not since the Stanford auction night when everything turned on its head. He looked the same tailored black suit, tie loose like always, that cocky smirk on his lips. But his eyes? They were heavier and

  • The Contracted Alliance; Accidental Marriage    Chapter 38

Charles’ POVThere was something about silence that made me itch. Not the kind of silence you get in a peaceful night or a lover’s embrace..No, The silence that hung in my penthouse office was the kind before a storm, heavy, pregnant with betrayal.I poured a glass of brandy, staring down at the city skyline. The Stanford estate glittered in the distance like a kingdom that should’ve been mine. No,I corrected myself, It still would be....was just running out of time to take it.“Sir, you’ve received a response,” my assistant, Marcie, said as she stepped in, heels tapping on marble like a countdown clock.I turned. “From who?”“Niina Stanford. Or someone in her circle. The message was indirect, but they’re watching.”Good, Let them watch.“Get me the numbers on Grayson Holdings. I want a report on their real estate shifts, quiet partners, anything Leena might be touching.”Marcie hesitated.. “Sir… this may not be the smartest move, you’ve already lost her legally, And the Stanfords...

Leena’s POVThe sun was shining over the garden terrace of the Stanford estate, painting everything gold. I stood in silence, wrapped in the satin robe Ethan had left on the edge of the bed this morning, still carrying the scent of him, cedarwood, spice, and something uniquely his.Last night’s memories played on a loop..His touch, his voice whispering promises into my neck, his lips trailing over my skin like I was a fragile glass which he didn’t want to shatter...For the first time in a long time, I hadn’t dreamt of running.I’d dreamt of staying.“Penny for your thoughts?” Ethan’s voice pulled me from the trance. I turned to see him leaning against the French doors, shirt unbuttoned at the top, tie loose, looking like he owned the world and somehow still wanted me more than all of it.“I was thinking how different everything feels here,” I said softly. “This place… you… us.”He stepped closer, hands in his pockets. “Different how?”“I don’t know, like I can finally breathe.”He re
