-Mina- Corey had left, Tony went to do whatever it is Tony does, and Luciano, he never left my side. I eventually fell asleep, dreaming about that night again, the man questioning me, the shooting, the pain. When I woke up it was the next day, the day of surgery. Luciano was still sitting there, “good morning, it’s a big day. How are you feeling?” I smiled, “I’m feeling good, ready to get this over with.” He smiled back, he stood, walking to the end of the hospital bed, “I got you these.” He picked up a vase of flowers, beautiful blue and purple flowers. “Why would you do that?” I couldn’t help smiling, watching as he brought them to the table beside me. “You’re in here because of me.” He sat down, squeezing my hand. I looked at him, then to my hand. I could feel it this morning. Is this a good thing? “Can I ask you something Luciano?” He nodded, “what’s up?” I looked down at our hands, still tangled together, “why didn’t you just ‘move on with life’ instead of coming back to the b
-Mina- I could hear Luciano yelling, people running, but I couldn’t move, couldn’t open my eyes. Then I could feel something or someone rolling me, probably the doctors. “Mr. Gambino please allow us-” I could hear the anger in his voice, “Shit, sorry, get in here.” Everyone's voices were blending together, then I felt something cold. It was getting colder, then I heard a voice say, “that’s a lot of blood. Start the MTP, get all the blood available. Mina stayed with us, we got the blood coming.”I could feel them pressing on my chest, the sounds of the electric charge from the shock paddles, then I felt it. The shock that brought me back. “She is back! Prep the ICU, she will need checks starting every 15 minutes until we find the source of the bleeding. And lets try to keep her blood inside her, notify the blood bank to have plenty on stand-by.” I still couldn’t open my eyes, but I could hear them more clearly, feel everything a lot more, and then I felt it when they shoved another n
-Mina - Before I could open my eyes, I could hear a lot of voices, ones I didn’t recognize. I could hear the sounds of machines beeping, “we got a pulse finally.” I slowly opened my eyes, the lights were bright, then the pain settled. “Ow, ah,” I started screaming, “what the hell happened? It hurts so bad.” I could feel the tears running down the side of my face, I couldn’t move without pain. Then I heard a familiar voice, Tony. “Mina, you’re at the hospital, they got you, okay.” I opened my eyes, finding several doctors around me, moving frantically, then Tony. “Tony. What happened? Where is Lu-” Tony’s head dropped, “he is outside waiting, let them help you and we will talk, they are still looking for the guy.” He looked up, I couldn’t tell what his eyes said, but they weren’t the same eyes I’ve come to know as kind. The doctor walked into view, Ms. Mendoza, you were shot, the good thing is, it went straight through, missing all organs, but we had to keep you immobile until we k
-Mina (POV) It has been a few days since I last saw him, Luciano. I haven’t seen him since last Saturday, when he kissed me. I have seen Tony from time to time, but haven’t talked to him. The dreams kept coming, getting more intense each time. First it was just his kiss on my lips, him holding me tightly, but each time, it was more intimate. Why is he so mysterious, dark, and so damn hot at the same time? My thoughts raced as I got ready for my day, sliding on some jeans and an old tee, I headed to the door. I put on my shoes, grabbed my keys, wallet and phone, then left after loving on Spot. “Watch the house for me boy, I’ll see you tonight.” I took the same route as always, the same smelly alley. Once I was there, the night went by like it was another normal day and that’s what I needed most right now, normal. I hadn’t even looked up from the ground when I turned the corner, this walk was familiar enough. Opening the door of the bar to go in, I bumped right into someone. Still lo
-Luciano- I called, placing the order and talked with Tony during the drive there. “I don’t want to talk to Eno about her yet, not until we know what the hell I am going to do about her, or with her.” Tony nodded, “I get it. What I want to know, how the hell you managed to feel something for someone else.” I couldn’t help laughing at his statement, I agreed if anything. “Honestly, I can’t stop thinking about her, every time I close my eyes, I see her face, with the green fucking eyes staring at me, reading me.” We pulled up to the bar, not leaving the car yet. “That’s some deep shit Luca” Tony said, cutting the engine of the car. I sighed, again, he was not wrong. “I haven’t felt like this about anyone, especially after,” Tony looked at me, face softening. “Anyway, she is different. I can’t bring her into this world. It’s a death sentence. But there’s something about the way she looked at me when I pointed the gun at her. Not scared, didn’t run, just stood there. She didn’t flinch.
-Luciano- When I got back in the car where Tony was waiting, he looked at me and asked. “Just thanking her, huh?” We started laughing. “Nope. That one was because she caught my eye when her face was red as hell. Why not toy with her some.” Who was I kidding? It was more like me toying with myself. He warned me yet again to be careful until we knew where her loyalty would lie, I nodded and we got on the road. About ten minutes into the drive I got a call, “Eno,” I said. “Boss, I just had a sit down with a friend of ours, he said that Tommy’s a rat.” My jaw tightened at the news, Tommy, a rat? “How sure?” I asked, hoping he still had to confirm. “I got the tap on him from the morning you were shot. It’s confirmed, boss.” Jaw still tight, looking out the window at the city. “Handle it. I’ll be there soon.” Hanging up the phone, I sat there, thinking about how I didn’t see this sooner, Tommy, a fucking rat. Someone I watched grow up with Frankie. He was there for him when dad was kille
