Eaten by guilt

Catalina's POV

"You fool, how could you be so careless." I was by his side in an instant, helping him sit up with his back resting on the wall. It looked bad, the wound was slowly bleeding out and I could tell the venom was starting to spread as the veins around it blackened.

He stopped moving around and sat still as he stared.

"Are you yelling at me?! At a time like this? I could be dying." He said in disbelief as he clutched his leg in pain. He winced and gasped. A hand ran through my hair as I felt helpless. A snake bite wasn't a part of the plan.

"You saw the snake, what type was it?" I asked. This earned me a thoughtful look from him before he gave up.

"I don't know, I didn't get a good look at it but the snakes found in these parts are poisonous." He was talking between breaths while I stood, torn and having a dilemma in my head.

"I don't know what to do! What do I do?" I ran a hand through my hair, I felt helpless and confused. I began biting my lips, an old habit of mine.
