**Kierra**

A cry broke through the darkness and roused me awake.

“Kiyah,” I mumbled, wiping the sleep from my eyes as I stumbled out of bed. I edged towards her bedroom, still sluggish from sleep. I shook it off altogether when her cries grew louder and sounded more distressed.

“Daddy!”

I flipped the light on, illuminating my daughter’s trembling form. She looked up at me with eyes full of tears. The sobbing came out in full force, stronger than before. She lifted her hands, and I took her into my arms.

“Mommy, I want Daddy.”

“I know, baby,” I whispered, holding her tight to my chest. “I’m so sorry, Ki,” I apologized as I paced her bedroom. The day and night had been eventful—missing kids, a beatdown, and a grieving toddler.

I’m spent.

Kiyah’s crying didn’t subside, and I feared she’d wake everyone in the house. I had to do something.

“Hey, Ki. Do you want to take a ride on Daddy’s bike?”

It took a couple of seconds for her to choke out her response. “Y-yes.”

“Okay. Let’s get dressed.

We need to get up and get ready for the day.”“I want to sleep.”“Are you sure? I have to go to Mr. Jonathan’s office.”I smacked my lips when Kiyah rolled off the sofa onto her feet. “I love Mr. Jonathan’s office!”“You love the snacks.”“That too.”“Go upstairs and brush your teeth and wash your face.”I called Jonathan’s office as soon as Kiyah was out of sight.“Good morning, this is Cara.”“Hey, Ms. Cara. This is Kierra.”“Good morning, Kierra. How are you?”“I’m fine. Thank you. Is Jonathan available?”“He’s currently on a conference call.”“Right. I’m on my way to pick up Daisy.”“Fantasti

  • The Cruel Millionaire's Surrogate   Kierra's Wrath

**Kierra**In a rage, I threw the door open, shoved past Jonathan, and punched her in her stupid mouth. She fell to the ground, and I mounted her immediately and kept hitting her until Jonathan finally dragged me off her.“Kierra! Stop! That’s enough!” he shouted, trying to separate us.“Say something else about me and my child again! You’ll be swallowing your fucking teeth! Moochers? That’s fucking ironic, seeing how you don’t spend time with your kids unless a check is involved. I get paid to love on your kids and take care of them—something you should be doing for free, you bum-ass bitch! And some of those licks were for Simone, too!” I shouted as Jonathan dragged me inside. He threw me on the couch, and I was about to jump up, and Mortal Kombat finish her ass when Jonathan snapped at me. “Don’t fucking move from this spot. Do you understand me?” I looked away from him, but Jonathan wasn’t having that. He grabbed my chin and pulled me back. “You will not move from this spot. Do you

**Kierra**I followed behind Jonathan and intercepted the boys as soon as they entered the house with gigantic smiles plastered on their faces. They obviously had a wonderful time with their mother, and I loved that for them. Still, the overt miscommunication, deception, and power move were disrespectful on so many levels. As promised, Jonathan called law enforcement at 6:01 on the dot. They came to the house, and he filed a report, giving them his legal documents detailing their custody arrangement and schedule. He also showed them the phone calls he made to Eliza and her sister and the text message that was left on “read” hours earlier.“Ms. Kierra, look what I got!” Casey greeted me excitedly, showing me a blow-up lightsaber.“That’s so cool, Case! I can’t wait to play with it after school tomorrow.”His shoulders slumped. “Can’t we play now?”“No, it’s late. You need to take a bath and go to bed. I’m assuming from the sauce at the corner of your mouth that you ate pizza for dinner

**Jonathan**I had barely entered the house when Kierra rushed towards me with Daisy in her arms and Kiyah behind her. “Have you heard anything?”“No, not yet. I’m giving Eliza until 6:00 to do the right thing before drastic measures have to be taken,” I explained, taking Daisy from her.“Jonathan…I’m sooo sorry. If I was a few minutes earlier, I could’ve—”“Stop, Kierra. This isn’t on you.”“But I—”“Tea.”“Excuse me?” she asked, scrunching her nose in that adorable way she did sometimes when she was stumped by something.“Chamomile tea. I think we all could use some.”“Can I have camouflage tea, Mr. Jonathan?” Kiyah asked, tugging on my pant leg.“Chamomile tea,” Kierra corrected. I chuckled as I led the way to the kitchen.“How do you feel about warm apple juice?” I asked Kiyah.“I love apple juice!” she professed.“Me too, but you won’t get any.”Kiyah’s mouth dropped in disbelief.“Why not? I want apple juice.”“Where’s my picture for my office?”It took a full second before Kiya

**Jonathan**My phone buzzed from beside me, giving me a much-needed break from the computer screen. I smiled when Kierra’s name populated the screen. When I wasn’t thinking about work, I was thinking about her. She thanked me constantly for everything I’d done for her without realizing how much she did for me. Knowing that my children were taken care of alleviated my stress, and having another adult in the house again was comforting. Not to mention, I didn’t feel lonely any longer.“Hello?”“Jonathan, did you give Eliza permission to pick up the boys from school?” Kierra asked frantically. My brows furrowed in confusion.“No…I didn’t. Are the boys not at school?” I asked the question, but I already knew the answer as I dialed Eliza’s phone number on my office phone.“They’re not. Mrs. Tudor told me that Eliza picked them up, and she allowed them to go with her because she was still on the pickup list.Goddamnit. How could I forget to remove Eliza from the list?I redialed when Eliza’
