MELANI'S POV

Riverwoods pack.

I stiffened, my entire body going rigid as I held my breath. I dared not move, barely trusting myself to breathe.

“Nizo, move. Check that direction. That's where the noise came from.”

Mello's command rang through the forest, followed by the sound of movement as his men shifted positions.

The clouds had darkened considerably by then, and the moon had begun to claim its place in the night sky, casting a faint glow over the trees.

To my utter dismay, Nizo,

4 Years AgoMELANI'S POVRiverwoods PackI dragged the back of my hand across my bleeding nose before pushing myself upright. My body protested at the slightest movement, but I managed to draw my legs towards my chest and wrap my arms around them, as though I could somehow shield myself from his penetrating gaze. When I finally lifted my eyes, I noticed that his men had formed a circle around us. Their towering figures stood between the trees, leaving me with no clear path to escape. My gaze travelled from one face to another as I counted them.Fourteen men.A laugh almost escaped me, but I managed to stifle it. My throat had grown so dry that even the thought of speaking seemed exhausting."Master, this one is beautiful..."Nizo was already ogling me when Mello lashed out with one of his paws. The attack happened so quickly that I barely registered the movement. Four vicious strikes landed across the man's chest, leaving a distinct pattern of wounds. Nizo staggered backwards, his e

4 years agoMELANI'S POV Riverwoods pack My thighs burned with exhaustion, and my knees threatened to buckle beneath me. Each breath scraped against my throat as I struggled to draw in enough air. My heartbeat, which had been pounding furiously against my ribs, was beginning to lose its rhythm. Strands of hair clung to my damp cheeks, sticking to the sweat trickling down my neck and along my temples.I stumbled over a protruding root, barely managing to regain my balance. A frustrated twitch passed through my eyelid as I clenched my jaw, fighting the urge to stop. With a heart weighed down by sorrow, I finally lifted my gaze towards the sky, fixing my eyes on the moon. She had cursed me.Yes, the Moon Goddess had cursed me and denied me a wolf. Perhaps that was why no one ever looked at me with the same admiration they showed my siblings. No one respected me, honored me, or considered me worthy of the place I was supposed to hold. Not even in my own home.Every single day, my mothe

I was certain of it. He would go there, make a great deal of noise and start issuing his incessant demands, all to satisfy his own desires and those of his men.Second, if Mello caught me here, he would hold me hostage.Fair enough, perhaps he would finally honour his promise and leave my pack alone. But there was no way he would release me afterwards. Not when he ha

4 YEARS AGO MELANI'S POV Riverwoods pack There was something satisfying about having my prey within shooting distance, especially when it had absolutely no idea I was watching. The cool evening breeze brushed against my skin, lifting a few loose strands of hair and tossing them across my face. I tried to see past them, narrowing my eyes as I kept my gaze fixed ahead, my attention unwavering. I lowered myself into the overgrowth, careful not to disturb the surrounding vegetation as I raised my bow to eye level. The arrow rested a few inches from my face, its tip aimed directly at the rabbit crouched beneath a fallen log. For a moment, everything around me seemed to fade. The rustling of leaves. The distant calls of birds returning to their nests. Even the faint chorus of night insects gradually coming to life beneath the fading twilight. My slender fingers tightened around the bowstring, pulling it back until the tension pressed firmly against my fingertips. My boots sank sligh

LEINNA’S POVThe moment the door was shut, I remained standing where I was, staring at it.The sound seemed to reverberate inside my head, over and over again, until Kael’s final words were all I could hear.“Alaric will be the end of you.”For several moments, I was unable to move, and my mind was caught in an unsettling emptiness. I wanted to dismiss his words, to convince myself that he knew nothing about Alaric or what we shared. But no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't stop thinking about everything he had said.My foot shifted, and I staggered, my ankle nearly twisting beneath me. I caught myself against the wall and slowly made my way to the bed.By the time I sat down, my legs were trembling.I lowered my head, staring at the floor as his words replayed in my mind. The questions he had asked, the accusations I had resented, and the warning I had refused to accept. The worst part was that they all made sense.I hated that they did.I hated that a stranger could look at my lif

KAEL'S POV“Why do you care?”Leinna snarled, her gaze dropped to the shattered clay pot, then darted toward the doorway behind me. When her eyes returned to mine, there was nothing but hostility in them.I ignored her question and glanced around the hut.“Where are the others?”I asked, but she mumbled something under her breath, too faint for me to catch.“Leinna?”“WHAT!”She snapped, her nostrils flaring. Her matted hair swung around her face as she jerked her head from side to side, unable to keep still. Her eyes remained fierce, almost wild, but whatever light once lived in them was gone.“I’m not going to hurt you.”“But your wolf will.”She held my gaze as she said it, as though searching my eyes for something that would confirm her fears.“He won't.” I frowned. “He can't hurt you anymore. And if he did while I was unconscious, then I owe you an apology.”“Your apology means nothing to me.”She sneered and pointed a trembling finger at the doorway behind me.“Leave.”I didn't
