Chapter 1

Author: Kiara Gem
My mind was foggy. I couldn't tell if I was dreaming or if what I saw was reality.

The room was dim. However, when I got a good look at the man on top of me, I felt as if I had been hit on the back of my head. Instantly, I regained my lucidity.

I surreptitiously glanced at the ashtray on the bedside table.

Then, catching the man off-guard, I grabbed it and brought it down on his head. It happened far too quickly for him to react in any other way than to snarl, "What the hell? How dare you attack me?"

Before he could strike back at me, I used all the strength I could muster to bash him in the head over and over again.

It was only when his blood had stained the white sheets red that I came back to what little senses I had left.

My body was trembling, though I didn't know whether it was out of anger or fear—or perhaps the joy of being reborn back in time and getting a do-over.

At some point, I started tearing up, and my tears were now dampening my cheeks.

I was still consumed by my thoughts.

In my previous lifetime, it was on this very day that I lost my dignity and reputation as a woman.

While I was unconscious, a group of people stormed into the room and woke me up.

Before I could realize what was happening, I heard the voice of my husband, Andrew Stone, ringing out icily.

"Ella Turner, is this the birthday surprise you prepared for me?"

When I tried to get up, I realized that there was an arm around my waist. A sense of unease crept through me, and I heard the repulsive voice of an unfamiliar man asking me, "Did you enjoy yourself?"

At that very moment, I felt as if my blood had gone cold. It was as if I had plunged into an icy abyss. A man I didn't know was lying in bed beside me. It wasn't my husband.

I'd been raped.

Yet, no matter how hard I tried to explain that I had no idea who the man was and that he had forced himself onto me, no one believed me.

A multitude of evidence appeared out of nowhere to make it seem like I had been cheating on Andrew with this man for a while now.

During that loneliest and most helpless point in my life, I desperately turned to Andrew.

He was the man I had loved the most throughout my entire life. We met in college before we got married, and we'd been together for seven years by then.

In those seven years, he cherished me like no other. He doted on me even more than my parents did. I was living the life I had fantasized about as a teenager.

Everyone envied me for the way Andrew lavished his love on me.

I was an ordinary college student, and yet I was able to end up with someone who was clearly destined for great things. Not only that, but he even adored me so.

But alas, from that night onward, everything changed—for good.

Choking back my sobs, I had pleaded with him, "This isn't true! You have to believe me, Andrew."

He silently came over and hugged me, saying, "Don't cry. I believe you."

I clung to him as if he were my savior. From that moment onward, I loved him with every fiber of my being. But at the same time, I started behaving in extreme ways. I was no longer myself. I refused to let any woman get near him.

Yet, Andrew indulged in my ways. He even squashed my scandal, though it had already caused a huge commotion. Everyone in our social circle knew that I had cheated on him.

Still, he never said a single word about that. He protected me, forgave me, and allowed me to do whatever I wanted.

In fact, the online community even started calling him the most pure-hearted and loving man. He was voted as the nation's model husband. Everyone wanted someone as wonderful and devoted as him to fall in love with them.

But it was all a lie.

Returning to the present, I felt my stomach churning. Something was threatening to spill out of me. I fled to the bathroom and puked my guts out.

I was still in the bathroom when I heard the commotion outside. In the heavy silence of the room, the familiar voice rang out with unusual clarity.

"My wife prepared a surprise for me. It should be right here in this room."

It was all over for Andrew. He would most likely spend the rest of his life rotting in prison. At first, he tried to get in touch with Frank. However, when Frank found out about what happened, he suffered a stroke due to a cerebral infarction, and his condition was still unstable.Andrew was a far cry from the cunning businessman Frank was.Initially, the Lawsons were wary of Frank and dared not stir up too much trouble. No one expected Frank to be out of commission, too, but naturally, they made full use of this opportunity. The Lawsons joined forces with many others to bring down Stone Group. That, combined with the evidence they had, was enough to seal the fate of Stone Group for good.During this critical moment, an unassuming person came forward—Rose. She used her maiden name and asked for a divorce. She also submitted a petition to take Frank to court for not only hiring a hitman to kill someone but also unlawfully detaining her for many years.Rose never loved Frank. Evan,

Stone Group went viral online that day, but this time, the headlines weren't what Andrew wanted to see. He quickly tried to smooth things over and let the news die out, but it didn't work.Amid this busy time of his, I abruptly announced my intention to get a divorce—a fault-based divorce, because he had cheated on me with another man.Instantly, the news took everyone by storm. More observant members of the online community quickly linked the clues to the hottest graphic novel at the moment. My story echoed that of the tragic female side character in the graphic novel. Moreover, the copyrights to the graphic novel had recently been purchased to produce a television series based on it. It was Andrew who funded the project. Otherwise, the deal wouldn't have been made so quickly. After that, Charlotte came forward in support of me, too. She had long since grown fed up with Ian. Ever since he was a child, he was raised like a spoiled, pampered prince while she was completely ignored b

After Rose had taken the information from the study, we met up at the mall again under the guise of shopping together.Feeling rather hesitant, she asked me, "Can I trust you?"Smiling, I replied, "There's no turning back for us now."All chance of backing out of the plan vanished when she agreed to help me.When I saw the change in her expression, I asked, "Have you been living well all these years?"Rose and I barely saw each other. In fact, we only crossed paths a handful of times. We first met when my parents were introduced to her and Frank before the wedding. Then, we met a second time during the wedding ceremony. As for the third time… it was after I'd publicly asked for a divorce, and she came over to slap me as well as to tell me to leave."You slapped me to make a big show for their sake, didn't you?" I asked. "In reality, you wanted me to run away, right?"Smiling, I continued, "Mr. Ford would never have hurt you this way."Rose didn't speak, but her eyes grew misty

Rose's expression turned to ice. Her nails were digging into her leather bag, leaving noticeable marks."What do you want?" she asked.I reached out to grab her hand and stop what she was doing. Smiling, I replied, "I'm here to help you. But I also need your help."…After that exchange with Rose, I swiftly got everything ready to put my plan into action.James, the private investigator, was rather efficient. I'd transferred him large sums of money and even provided him with much-needed equipment. Fortunately, none of it had gone to waste, and I got my hands on several precious videos.I saw the way James hesitated when he typed his messages to me. I figured that he also understood the situation. Since it wasn't something to be proud of, he didn't touch on the subject much.As I went through the photos James sent me, I saw many featuring both Andrew and Ian. They appeared hand-in-hand in many places, but they kept a low profile. There were even photos of them kissing—far too man

In this lifetime, I finally got to send that man to prison, and that was only the beginning.Smiling, Andrew explained, "That's not true, Dad. I simply failed to explain the situation properly to Ella, so she misunderstood my relationship with Ms. Sherwood."Instead of accepting Andrew's response outright, Frank turned to me and asked, "Is that so?"Andrew tried to signal me with a look. He reached out under the table to grab my hand, but I avoided him.Time continued ticking, but I took my sweet time to respond. Growing impatient, Frank frowned. Just as he was about to speak, I said, "Nope."Andrew was the first to react, his expression hardening. In the past, I never would've put him on the spot in front of Frank.Andrew's eyes flashed with deep resentment as he hurriedly tried to defend himself, saying, "I've already explained everything to you, Ella! Why are you still—""That's enough, Andrew," Frank called out, cutting Andrew off. "Let Ella say what she wants to say."Inst

When I reached out to Marissa, she happened to be in need of money. I transferred double the amount she requested and said, "Keep the extra to use as needed. I'm hiring you to create a graphic novel for me. Do a good job of it."I sent her the plot that I stayed up all night crafting. Once she read the story outline, she texted me, "This is incredible! You're a genius! Why don't you consider turning it into a traditional novel instead?"That would take too long. It was too slow for my taste. Also, some scenes only left a lasting impression when taken in visually. That would make it easier for the public to connect the dots in the future.…It had been two weeks since Andrew and I last had any contact. Ever since I ended the call he got from Ian that day, he hadn't returned to the house or said anything to me.Yet, on this day, he came home bearing an arm full of bright red roses. Smiling faintly, he said, "I'm sorry, darling. It was wrong of me that day. Let me make it up to you n
