Chapter 6—Outside Of The Pack

Chapter 6– Outside Of The Pack

The rogues smiled as they noticed the man behind their miseries was alone. Aeron had left the pack with no guards. He wanted to approach Myra by himself, if really what Oswald had revealed to him then he needed to placid Myra in order to get the daughter he rejected.

Aeron’s ears perked and his feet tapped the floor impatiently as he waited for the rogues to attack. “Not so mighty now, are you?” The rogue teased, his canines barred in an attempt to scare the Alpha King.

Aeron turned to him, a mischievous smile on his face as he strolled lazily away from the rogues. He didn’t get to ten steps before one of the rogues jumped at him, almost catching him off guard but Aeron was prepared for it.

His claws dashed out in attack, clawing the chest of the rogue that had attacked while he jumped out of the way evading the rogue's touch. When other rogues saw what had happened, they all jumped towards him at once.

With fury and determination in his eyes, Aeron began to nip and claw at whatever he could get in contact with. He wasn’t much of a fighter but he wasn’t one to give up so easily. He wouldn’t give up when it meant fighting against some rogues.

“For a man who believes only in himself— so full of himself, you should know you’ve got lots of enemies” the rogue who the Alpha assumed was their leader spoke in between claws and clashes.

“You are so full of yourself until I swipe your head, sending it rolling to the fucking floor!” Aeron growled. A mistake. One small mistake he made as he spared a glance at the rogue leader allowed the rogues to attack his less defensive side.

A defeating snarl filled the forest. Aeron turned to look at the rogue who had the nerve, his eyes turned coal black as he shifted into his wolf. A massive black wolf and charged at the rogue who stood frozen in fear.

It was rumored that no one had seen the Alpha king in wolf form and seeing him, looking like no ordinary wolf, everyone froze.

Aeron lunged at the rogue aiming for its throat and with a quick flick of his claws, the rogue dropped dead, without giving a space of air he charged at other rogues until he brought them down.

Aeron shifted back into his human form. He glanced at the last rogue standing. The rogue leader. He smiled menacingly as he approached him.

“Your mistake was attempting to fight me” he growled. Both men charged at each other, eyes glinting with malice, one mad that an inferior had challenged him while the other remembered his days without family and a pack.

Teeth and claws began to fly in a blur. Growls and snarls filled the air. The rogue leader was a worthy opponent to the Alpha king. Both stood their ground as they attacked.

The rogue leader aimed at Aeron so quickly that he didn’t see it. Aeron stumbled, clenching his abdomen. The rogue leader attacked again but this time Aeron was fast enough to evade his attack, launching an attack on his own with a swift flick of his paw at the rogue leader sending him to the ground. Aeron wasted no time and pounced on the rogue leader. He grabbed his neck and pulled him to a stand then threw him across a tree. The rogue body hit the tree with a snap.

Aeron moved fast then picked him up, his claws swiped at his neck and chest, and with a quick twist to the neck, he brought the rogue leader to his death.

With a heavy heart, he panted heavily, staring at the masses of bodies that surrounded him. A smile fixed on his face. He glanced at his bloodied body and sighed when he saw a part of him when the rogues had taken a chunk bite off. “It will heal,” he mumbled.

He returned to his bags, rummaged through them, and brought out a clean pair of clothes to put on. He couldn’t go into the human world looking like that.

Augustine stood at the doorstep watching Myra as she played with her baby. “So I was thinking” Augustine started walking inside which startled Myra. She hadn’t expected to be interrupted and didn’t even hear or smell him walk in.

“Hi,” she smiled and threw him a nod of appreciation.

“Hi,” Augustine replied. He stared at the woman before him. Curiosity filled his eyes, he wanted to know a lot about her but then he could see the sadness in his eyes and knew not to push too much.

“I was thinking, you could job hunt you know to be able to provide for yourself and the baby” he scratched his head, feeling a little guilty but he knew his salary alone wouldn’t be able to take care of him not to talk of taking care of Myra and her daughter.

“Of course, I’ve been trying to get one too,” Myra nodded. She had been in search of jobs herself, she didn’t need to be a bother to the man, he had provided her a roof over her head, he had clothes and fed her and her child she couldn’t ask for more.

Augustine was a bit shocked, she hadn’t even been up to a week since she arrived and she had already begun to search for jobs. He hid his surprise as he stared admirably at her.

“I might be able to help with that,” he murmured. This snapped Myra’s attention. She gently cooed at her daughter and walked towards him.

“Please, go ahead” she whispered.

“So a friend of mine informed me about a vacancy for the position of a secretary in her company, I was thinking you could try out” he shrugged. A frown settled on her face as she realized she had no certificate or credentials to show but nodded slowly.

“Of course, thanks for your help, Augustine.”

“I’m glad I could help,” Augustine replied.

As Augustine left the room, she wondered what she should do, with no certificate or credentials, she knew there was no way she could get a job.
