Tristan

The shock slammed into me like a freight train as I stared at the girl in front of me, her emerald eyes defiantly locked onto mine. Everything about her called to me, especially from this close up. But now she was telling me something that my senses couldn’t believe to be true.

"What did you just say?" I demanded, my voice low and dangerous.

"I said," she repeated, her tone firm, "I'm human."

"Impossible," I snarled, my anger bubbling beneath the surface. How could this beautiful creature be nothing more than a weak, fragile human? The thought was incomprehensible.

"Please," she whispered, stepping closer to me, her scent intoxicating and driving me mad with desire. "I can't be your fated mate because I don't have one. I can’t have one." I saw sadness in her emerald eyes as she spoke. There was more than just fear here. I shook my head, unwilling to accept her words.

"No," I growled, my hand reaching out to grip her arm tightly, feeling her warm skin beneath my fingertips. "Y

  • The Cursed Alpha King's Mate   Chapter 17

TristanI felt it happen the moment my teeth broke through her delicate skin. The connection, snapping into place like a lock finally finding its key. The Alpha mark, a primal bond that would tie Isla to me, to my pack, to my very essence. It wasn’t the fated mate bond; I wasn’t ready for that yet, but this would have to do for now. Her blood was sweet on my tongue, coppery and warm, and as I tasted her, something unfurled within me. A sense of rightness. Of completion. Then I felt her slump in my arms, her consciousness slipping away as the power of the mark overwhelmed her human system. I pulled back, licking the wound closed with instinctive care, watching as the bruise began to form, my mark, permanently etched into her pale skin."Isla?" I murmured, cradling her limp form against my chest. No response. Her lashes lay like dark crescents against her cheeks, her breathing slow but steady. The connection between us hummed, newly formed but undeniable, I could feel her, even now, a q

  • The Cursed Alpha King's Mate   Chapter 16

IslaI stood frozen in the doorway of my father's office, my heart hammering against my ribs like a caged bird desperate for escape. Before me, the Alpha King loomed, his face a terrifying mask of barely contained fury, his blue eyes darkening to a molten gold that betrayed the rage of his wolf. Behind him, I caught a glimpse of his Beta looking equally startled by my sudden appearance. The weight of what I was about to do pressed down on me, making it hard to breathe. Less than fifteen minutes ago, I had with my family, the people who had protected me my entire life, slipped into the woods behind our home, their faces etched with determination and fear. The plan had been simple: escape together, find refuge with distant allies, start over somewhere the Alpha King's influence couldn't reach us.But as I'd watched them gather supplies, plotting escape routes and contingency plans, a cold realisation had settled in my gut. There was no escaping Tristan Norththorn. I knew in my heart tha

Tristan"Oh, I am so excited to meet her." I held the phone to my ear while my mother spoke with enthusiasm. I sat in Alpha Hartwood's office talking to my mother on the phone, while Gabe looked at paperwork on the desk, a slight smirk on his face."I don't know mum," I said, trying to keep the frustration out of my voice, "It's more complicated than that.""What could possibly be complicated about finding your fated mate?" my mother scoffed."I don't know," I sighed, preparing myself for the next part. "She's human." There was a brief pause. I glanced up at Gabe and despite him acting like he wasn’t, I could tell that he was waiting for my mother's response as much as I was."Human?" she finally asked."Yes, human," I repeated, running a hand through my hair. "I don't know how it's possible, but she's human.""Well, that's certainly unusual," my mother said, "But not impossible. The moon goddess has her reasons for all of her choices. Including her fated pairs.""I know," I said, "Bu

Isla"An hour?" I repeated numbly, my voice a ghost of itself. How could I pack a lifetime into a single hour? How could I prepare myself for a future shrouded in shadows and uncertainty? I stood frozen, my heart hammering against my ribcage like a wild thing desperate for escape. My lips parted, but no sound emerged, just a silent scream trapped within the confines of my throat. The horror of his demand clawed at me, tearing through the facade of composure I struggled to maintain."Alpha King, I—" I stuttered out, not really sure what I was going to say. Not that it mattered, it was clear that the monster had no interest in listening. "Silence!" His interruption sliced through the room. My body jolted, an involuntary response to the authority that rolled off him in waves. I could feel the weight of his gaze, heavy and unyielding, pressing me down. My mind raced, thoughts scattered by the sheer impossibility of what he asked. Move to the royal pack? To live among those who saw me as

  • The Cursed Alpha King's Mate   Chapter 13

IslaI tried to focus on my breathing, which had become rather rapid and shallow all of a sudden, as the Alpha King made his way back to his seat. As his words hung in the air like a suffocating fog, I couldn't help but notice the flicker of his gaze towards his Beta. The two shared a weighted glance, as if some unspoken secret danced between them. The Beta's eyes darted back and forth, betraying his uncertainty."As I said, rejection is not an option," the Alpha King repeated, his focus returning to me with an intensity that made my skin prickle with both fear and something else entirely. "Your place is now with the Sovereign Claw pack," he said, his voice laced with authority. "You will move to the Sovereign Claw pack. You will take your place as my mate... and provide me with an heir." His declaration settled over me like a death shroud, cold and suffocating. My heart hammered against my ribcage, each beat a drum of war, calling me to fight or flee. But there was nowhere to run; h

  • The Cursed Alpha King's Mate   Chapter 12

IslaThe door swung shut with a sound that sent a shiver of foreboding down my spine. The office that had been our sanctuary, if only for a fleeting moment, was now behind us. Cassie's hand trembled in mine as we stepped into the corridor, followed by the warrior. His presence was oppressive, and his silent judgement, a weight on my shoulders."Quite the escort," I mumbled under my breath, my gaze catching the sight of two more hulking forms joining our procession. They stood like sentinels, their eyes sharp and unyielding, and I couldn't help but wonder why they deemed it necessary to guard Cassie and me so closely. After all, what threat could a human pose to them? Cassie's grip tightened, her slender fingers clinging to mine like a lifeline. "Isla," she whispered, her voice barely audible over the steady thumping of my heart, "you think it'll be okay, right?""Of course." The lie tasted bitter on my tongue. I squeezed her hand back, a silent promise hoping that someone was watchin
