I stood in front of Kaidon, trying hard not to look as confused as I felt. "One of the guards found her," he said calmly, hands behind his back, voice like cold steel.

My heart skipped. What the hell was he talking about?

"Found who?" I asked, even though I knew damn well who he meant.

He narrowed his eyes at me like I had just asked him if the moon was real. "Lila."

Lila? That wasn't possible. Clarkson said he killed her. Clarkson promised me she was dead. We agreed. No loose ends. He fucking told me he buried her.

I swallowed, keeping my face straight. "Which of the guards found her?" I asked, voice a little too eager. I caught myself and took a breath. "I mean... just so we can make sure he's not lying."

Kaidon raised one brow and tilted his head. "Why do you want to know that, Drake?"

My chest tightened. I shouldn’t have asked that. "Just to be sure, Alpha. That's all. Can't take chances with traitors, can we? Don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about."

  • The Cursed Alpha and His Wolfless Mate   I walked in while she was...

I didn’t like the way she looked at me when I told her she’d keep staying in Tasha’s old room. Her eyes dropped instantly, lips trembling as though she was about to cry again. That made it the third time this week, and for some reason, I couldn’t stand seeing her tears. “But please, Alpha,” she said softly, hands clasped in front of her chest. “I don’t deserve that room. That room is sacred, it belonged to someone you loved deeply. I shouldn’t be there.” I crossed my arms, standing in front of her by the doorway. The sun was slowly going down outside the window, and it cast this golden glow on her hair. She looked... like she didn’t belong here. And maybe that’s what made her belong to me more than anyone else ever had. “You’re staying there until I say otherwise,” I said, firmly but not coldly. “And you don’t get to decide what you deserve.” “But I…” I raised a brow. She stopped talking immediately. “You forget who you’re speaking to?” “No, my lord,” she whispered, bowing qui

  • The Cursed Alpha and His Wolfless Mate   The Execution Ground

The noise was too much. Low murmurs, scattered arguments, whispers carried by the wind. Everyone was talking, and yet, no one really knew what was going on. That’s what fear did… it made people curious, made them restless. And when the summons had come out… "All able-bodied members of the Moonstone Pack must assemble at the execution ground immediately"... it had stirred something dark in their hearts. You’d think I had called them to prepare for war. But no, it was something much more delicate… much more dangerous… even though I knew they'd be shocked to find out it was about… Lila. I stood behind the tall iron gates, waiting. Watching. My guards, four of them, stood in a line beside me. I glanced at each of them once, and then at the chaos beyond the gates. The execution ground was crowded, shoulder to shoulder. Warriors, elders, women with their arms crossed over their chests, young men puffing out their chests like they understood war. They all looked uneasy, yet ready for

  • The Cursed Alpha and His Wolfless Mate   I needed to know!

I pushed the heavy wooden door open, letting the creak echo through the hallway like a warning. My fingers brushed over the carved crescent moon on the edge of the doorframe, and I paused just for a second to brace myself. The scent hit me first. Lavender and burnt pine. The exact mix Tasha used to spray on her bed every night. “This room used to belong to my sister,” I said, stepping in, leaving the door wide for her to follow. Lila stood at the threshold, her arms tucked around her stomach like she was trying to hold herself together. She peeked in with soft green eyes, unsure, quiet. Her steps were hesitant. “Tasha,” I continued, “she was my everything. I could go to war just for her.” Lila walked in slowly, eyes scanning the room… the walls still painted a soft dusky pink, the bed still made just the way she used to, untouched after all these years. “She… she must have been really special,” Lila said gently, voice no louder than a whisper. “She was,” I said, my throat tight

  • The Cursed Alpha and His Wolfless Mate   I found her!

I didn’t believe him at first. Clarkson stood before me, eyes low, voice steady, repeating the same words like he hadn’t just turned my entire world upside down. “She’s alive, Alpha. Lila is alive.” I stared at him, quiet, watching his face closely for signs of mockery or manipulation. This wasn’t a man who smiled much, and tonight was no different. “You lied about killing her?” I asked, folding my arms across my chest. He nodded slowly. “I had to.” “You told Drake you killed her.” “I did,” he said, with no shame in his voice. “I needed him to believe it.” I exhaled, sharp. “You know I should kill you right now.” “I know,” he said. “But I also know you won’t.” I took a step closer. “Where is she?” He glanced toward the windows, like he wanted to make sure no one was listening, and then said, “She’s safe. But not in a cave like I told you earlier.” “Where then?” Clarkson met my eyes fully for the first time tonight. “In my house.” My brow twitched. “You hid her… in your

Something was off. Scratch that. Everything was off. Clarkson wasn’t acting like himself lately, and it wasn’t just a one-time thing I could sweep under the rug. At first, I thought maybe it was guilt. After all, the whole mess with Lila had gotten a little… messy. But this? This was different. He started missing things. Clarkson and I had a routine. Every Friday night, we’d grab a bottle of Moonbrew, sit by the stream just past the training grounds, and laugh about the madness of the week. Every full moon, we’d spar under the clearing, just to let our wolves feel the air. And anytime we got ourselves into some deep sh*t, we always circled back, always checked in, always made sure we were good. But the past few days have been an introduction of a strange… or should I say new… Clarkson. No drinks. No sparring. No checking in. It felt like he had completely changed his routine without carrying me along… That was unlike him, really. He had missed three of our training sessions.
