Coming down from the mountains after finishing off Clarkson should have given me peace, but it didn’t. My hands were still stained, not with blood… I’d washed that off… but with the weight of unfinished business. Clarkson had become a liability. He was talking too much, and when a man starts to grow a conscience, especially in the kind of things we were into, you do not give him a chance to explain himself or use whatever is in that conscience.

The breeze from the forest brushed over my face as I walked through the pack grounds. Everything looked the same, but something felt off. There was a heaviness in the air. A tension I couldn’t name.

And then I saw her.

Tabitha.

At first, I didn't believe she was the one until I got close… and closer.

She was leaning against the wooden pillar outside Kaidon’s quarters, arms folded tightly across her chest, mouth pressed into a thin line. Her foot tapped the ground slowly, rhythmically, like a ticking bomb waiting for the right second to ex

The hall echoed with laughter as I raised a glass to peace. That was what we were celebrating tonight: peace in Moonstone Pack. No threats, no bloodshed, no tension hanging in the air. Just peace. My closest allies were here. Alpha Cunha sat to my left, lounging like he owned the place… as usual. Beside him was Grayson, the loudmouth of the Red Fang Pack, always ready with a joke and a drink. Then there was Ulric, who barely ever smiled, but tonight he was talking. That meant he was in a good mood. It wasn’t every day you saw Ulric talk and laugh. “I swear, Kaidon,” Cunha said, nudging my arm, “you’ve become soft in your old age.” “I’m thirty,” I said, rolling my eyes. “That’s ancient for someone who used to snap necks for breathing wrong,” Grayson added with a chuckle. “Not my fault peace looks good on me,” I muttered, sipping from my goblet. We were just settling into another round of stories about that rogue ambush two years ago when the doors creaked open and a few maids wa

  • The Cursed Alpha and His Wolfless Mate   I'm scared

I closed the door to Tasha’s room behind me and leaned against it, my heart thudding faster than I wanted it to. Drake’s voice still rang in my ears. "Watch your back, girl." I swallowed hard and rubbed my arms like I could chase away the cold crawling over my skin. The man was serious. I could feel it in the way his eyes darkened when he spoke. I knew better than to brush it off. He’d already hurt me once, and I was still dealing with the aftermath of that attack. The alpha may have made me his personal maid, may have punished the ones who hurt me... but that didn’t mean I was safe. Not really. Not from Drake. Not from someone who wanted me gone so badly. I sat down on the bed and stared at the wall for a while. My head hurt. My chest felt tight. I couldn’t even tell if it was from the fever I had picked up earlier or the fear tying knots in my stomach. Later that evening, Loraine came by with a small basket of food and a soft smile on her face. She always looked so calm, so su

  • The Cursed Alpha and His Wolfless Mate   Watch Your Back

I woke up that morning with my head pounding like someone had drummed on my skull all night. My throat was dry, my back ached, and I could barely lift my arm. I groaned and sat up slowly, clutching my belly like that would somehow stop the strange cramps. Everything hurt. But I knew better than to stay in bed, especially not today. The Alpha was hosting some of his old friends, and everyone in the pack house was moving around like bees in a burning hive. No one… maybe excluding the alpha and Loraine… would have cared that I was sick. If anything, that would only get me more work and more insults. Just as I finished dragging on my faded gown and tying my hair into a low bun, Sara barged into the room like she owned the entire universe. “Well, Sleeping Beauty finally woke up,” she said with a crooked smile. “I was about to send the guards to drag you out of bed.” “I’m not feeling too well,” I murmured, trying not to sound like I was complaining. She clicked her tongue. “Aw, poor l

I was folding some of the linen with Loraine when she suddenly stopped talking and narrowed her eyes toward the window. I glanced up at her. “What?” She didn’t answer immediately. Instead, she dropped the linen and muttered, “He’s back.” I blinked. “Who?” She turned to look at me like it should’ve been obvious. “Drake.” My stomach tightened on instinct. I hated how just hearing his name could freeze my insides like that. My fingers trembled slightly, and I had to shove them into my apron to stop them from shaking. “He’s back already?” I asked, my voice lower than I meant it to be. Loraine gave a slow nod. “Yeah. I saw him about ten minutes ago, strutting around like nothing ever happened. And guess what else?” I raised a brow, not sure I wanted to know. She moved closer and whispered like someone might be eavesdropping, “I saw him talking with Tabitha earlier today. Real cozy.” I stared at her, stunned. “Tabitha?” “Mm-hmm.” She nodded like it confirmed something she’d alre

  • The Cursed Alpha and His Wolfless Mate   Not just a maid!

I was restless. It had been days… days since I last saw her. Lila. And every damn morning, I expected her to walk in with my breakfast, avoiding my eyes like she always did. Soft hands placing the tray down. That quiet, nervous smile. But no, it was always someone else. And now Tabitha? Always beside me, asking pointless questions, laughing at everything, and acting like she owned the place. I stared at my untouched food, growing cold on the table. My appetite had died the moment Lila stopped showing up. I didn’t want to raise suspicion, not with Tabitha always lurking around me like a shadow. The last thing I needed was for her to think I was bothered about a maid. But I was. And it wasn’t just about her duties. Something didn’t feel right. “Sara,” I said one morning, after finally snapping. I had sent for her. “Yes, Alpha?” she responded quickly, lowering her head. The other maids vanished like scared mice, leaving her alone with me and Tabitha, who didn't seem interested in w
