As I held the letter tightly, my fingers trembling against the parchment, I couldn’t help but think about Amelia’s unwavering patience. She had sat there, silently watching me read the letter, her presence a comforting anchor amidst the storm of emotions that swirled within me. Each time my brows furrowed in disbelief or confusion, she would lean in closer, her concern etched across her face. It was as if she could feel the weight of the revelations in the letter even before reading it herself.

“Amelia,” I continued, my voice still quivering, “you need to read this. It’s about Bridget’s past, and it’s... it’s unbelievable.”

Her eyes never left mine as she took the letter from my trembling hands, her fingers gentle yet firm. I watched as her expression mirrored my own astonishment as she began to scan the contents. In that moment, I couldn’t help but be grateful for her presence, for her ability to share in the shock and disbelief that had taken hold of me.
