Elara

“You have me,” Kael said hoarsely, his thumb brushing my cheek, his gaze burning into mine. “More than I ever meant to give.”

The words tore something open inside me. Every question, every ache, every sleepless night crashed together until all that was left was the heat clawing up my throat.

I didn’t think. I couldn’t.

I rose on my toes, closing the last inch between us. My lips caught his—soft at first, tentative, then desperate as the storm broke.

Kael’s growl rumbled through his chest as he answered me, his mouth slanting over mine with a hunger that stole my breath. His hand slid to the back of my neck, pulling me closer, devouring the kiss like he’d been starving for it.

My fingers curled into his shirt, clinging, needing. The taste of him was fire and smoke, intoxicating, drowning. I gasped against him, and he deepened the kiss, his tongue sweeping mine in a clash that made my knees weaken.

This wasn’t gentle. This wasn’t careful. This was raw, unrestrained, the truth of e

KaelHer words struck like a blade to my chest.“I might be a wolfless omega, but I’m not weak.”Elara’s eyes burned with fire, daring me to deny her. She had no wolf. She had no reason to stand her ground against me. And yet, every time she did, it stripped me bare in ways no warrior, no rival, no curse ever could. And gods help me, I wanted her.The wolf inside me prowled, snarling, pressing against my ribs. It wasn’t just want. It was need—bone-deep, dangerous, suffocating. I had spent my whole life fighting urges like this, restraining myself until my soul ached, but standing there with Elara, I felt that last thread of control unravel.“You don’t know what you’re saying,” I growled, stepping closer.“Then show me,” she whispered. Her lips trembled, but her gaze never wavered. “Show me I’m wrong.”Something snapped inside me.In two strides I was on her, my hand fisting in her hair as my mouth crashed onto hers. The taste of her was wildfire—sweet and consuming, searing every part

ElaraThe witch’s chamber lingered in my mind long after Kael guided me out of it. The smell of smoke and herbs clung to my clothes, and her words echoed in my ears like a curse I couldn’t shake. The binding has cracks… The pull between you is no accident… What you resist is what may free her.I didn’t understand half of what she meant, but the way her dark eyes had lingered on me—like I was some puzzle piece carved from something unnatural—made my skin crawl. And Kael’s reaction… gods. His face had hardened, his body a shield between me and her. Protective, yes, but also fierce in a way that told me he understood something I didn’t. Something he wouldn’t share. My thoughts spun as I walked the hall beside him, his hand at the small of my back. The contact seared me, familiar and foreign all at once. My wolfless body shouldn’t crave him this way. I shouldn’t ache when he wasn’t touching me. I shouldn’t feel the pull every time his gaze met mine, like a thread stitching us together tig

KaelThe witch’s chamber smelled of smoke and iron. Candles burned down to pools of wax, their shadows stretching over stone walls etched with symbols older than any pack.Elara’s hand was still in mine, small and trembling, though she tried to hide it. I could feel her pulse racing against my skin, and my wolf prowled restlessly, wanting to shield her from everything—even from the truth. The witch laid her bowl on the table, dark liquid swirling inside it. Her eyes gleamed as she looked between us.“The seal binding her,” she said, voice as smooth as glass, “isn’t a simple spell. It’s layered. Old. Woven into her very blood. I can trace the threads, but to tear them free will require more than herbs and chants.”My grip on Elara tightened. “What more?”The witch studied me with a look I didn’t like—knowing, too sharp. “Something older than me. Older than this land. Something primal.” She let the words hang in the air like smoke.Elara’s lips parted, her eyes darting between us. “What

ElaraKael brushed a strand of hair off my cheek and rose from the bed, his movements slow but decisive. The muscles in his back tensed as he tugged on his shirt, his wolf prowling close beneath his skin.“Get dressed,” he said quietly. “We’re not waiting any longer.”I blinked at him, still tangled in the sheets. “Now?”“Yes. Now.” His voice was low, but there was no mistaking the command in it. “The witch hasn’t left yet. We’re going to her.”My stomach tightened. Part of me wanted to burrow back under the covers, to delay whatever truths might be waiting for us. But the other part—the part that had been restless and half-panicked since I was brought here—sat up straighter. This was what I’d asked for. This was what I’d told him I wanted.Kael opened the door and called softly down the hall. A moment later Lucian appeared, followed by Rowan, Kael’s beta. Both men looked as if they hadn’t slept much either.“She’s still in the south wing,” Lucian reported. “Preparing her herbs.” His

ElaraKael’s arms were still wrapped around me, his chest a wall of heat under my palms. For a long time we just sat there, breathing each other in, both of us trying to quiet something wild and frightened inside. Then he shifted, pulling back just enough so he could look down at me. His eyes were darker now, the gold ring of his wolf bleeding into the grey. The look wasn’t Alpha authority; it was determination, the kind that meant he’d already made up his mind.“I’ve been a coward,” he said quietly. “Trying to pretend that keeping you at arm’s length would keep you safe. Trying to pretend that calling you ‘breeder’ would stop me from wanting you. That’s over.”My stomach tightened. “Kael—”He put a finger against my lips, gently. “Listen. The witch’s words were clear. There’s something bound in you, something hidden. That binding isn’t yours, and it isn’t mine. And the longer it stays, the more dangerous it becomes — for you and for me. If this thing between us is a bond, I have to k
