Elara

The ground shook before I felt the pain.

It started as a low hum in my bones — a vibration that rattled the edge of my teeth. I was sitting in the corridor outside Kael’s chambers, waiting for news, forcing myself to stay where Ronin insisted I’d be safe.

Safe.

There is no safety when Kael is in danger.

When the first wave of agony tore through the bond, I doubled over, clutching my chest. Not my pain. His.

“Goddess—” I gasped, shoving myself to my feet.

The room spun. The bond pulsed again — hot, furious, wild. Not the clean snap of battle adrenaline.

This was Kael’s wolf trying to claw its way out of him.

No — not trying.

Succeeding.

My heart slammed against my ribs.

Kael…?

The answer was nothing but a roar, deafening and wordless.

I staggered as the world tilted sideways. The corridor blurred. My skin felt too tight, my breath too short. This wasn’t just connection — it was overload. Like something inside me was trying to break free to reach him.

“Elara!”

KaelIt rushes outward in a wave, slamming into me, through me, around me. It sears across the battlefield, blinding white for a heartbeat. Every rune on every stone shatters with a crack like snapped bone. The black fog screams — not sound, but feeling — and then evaporates, ripped away in strips. The witch staggers back, her projected form flickering.Garrick drops to his knees, choking, whatever hold she had on him momentarily loosened. Wolves collapse or bow without meaning to, muzzles pressed to the ground as if gravity just doubled.I don’t bow.But my knees almost buckle. Her light doesn’t burn me. It hurts — but only because I’m not used to it. Because I’ve spent so long in the dark that any brightness feels like a wound. The curse inside me writhes, trying to retreat from it, but something holds it in place.Her.She’s holding it.“Elara,” I rasp. My voice scratches out of my throat like it hasn’t been used in years. “What are you doing?”“What I was born for,” she whispers.

  • The Cursed Alpha’s Wolfless Omega   Chapter 81

Kael The first thing I see is light. Not the weak gray of dawn bleeding through fog. Not the flicker of fire or the cold gleam of steel.Moonlight.Cutting through the black like a blade. For a moment, it doesn’t make sense. I’m half-shifted, caught somewhere between man and beast, claws buried in another wolf’s chest. Blood sprays hot across my fur, the copper scent flooding my lungs. The fog curls around me, thick and suffocating, carrying her laughter. You cannot save her, the witch’s voice purrs. You cannot even save yourself. My curse roars. It’s not a sound. It’s a tearing inside — a rending of whatever thin line separates sanity from the feral thing underneath. My vision tunnels. My heart slams against my ribs like it wants to break out.And then I hear her.“KAEL!”Her voice rips through the chaos like thunder.I freeze. The wolf I’m pinning tries to twist free, snapping at my throat. Instinct should have made me finish him, rip his head from his shoulders and move on to the

KaelThe horn still echoes when I reach the border. The forest ahead is breathing wrong.Fog creeps low over the ground, thick and black, curling between roots like smoke that forgot how to rise. The scent of it turns my stomach — blood and iron and something older. The wolves behind me shift restlessly, claws scraping the earth.Lucian rides up beside me, his wolf half pressing through his skin, gold eyes flashing. “They’re close,” he says. “Too close.”I can feel it — a vibration in the ground, not hoofbeats, not paws, but magic. The forest remembers what’s coming.“Positions,” I growl. My warriors fan out in practiced precision — silent, deadly, loyal. For all their strength, I can feel the tremor in their bond. The witch’s presence licks across the air like frost on skin. Then the fog parts. And Garrick appears. He rides at the head of a column of wolves, armor dull and unpolished, eyes glinting with a madness that wasn’t there before. His aura is wrong. It bleeds shadow where it

RoninThe air felt heavier when we returned from the border — like the whole forest was holding its breath.Even the wolves passing us on the trail bowed quicker than usual, eyes down, shoulders tight. They didn’t have to see what we’d seen to know something was wrong. The scent of it hung everywhere — frost, ash, and something older, like rot buried under snow.Kael hadn’t spoken since the whisper. His eyes had gone black with that unnatural stillness that makes even battle-hardened wolves uneasy. His curse stirred. Every wolf in the patrol felt it.By the time we reached the stronghold gates, Kael’s voice was low and dangerous.“Prepare.”That was all.I knew what he meant.War.⸻The courtyard buzzed with tension when I arrived. Young wolves whispered in corners, veterans sharpened weapons that didn’t need sharpening, and no one met my eyes for long. Fear moves faster than orders.I barked commands as I crossed the yard — sharp, quick, practiced.“Double the sentries on the eastern

KaelThe dawn breaks wrong. The light looks like morning, but the air smells like graves.I’ve run these borders since before my curse had a name, since before every tree here learned to lean away from my presence. But today, the forest leans from something else. The ground hums. Low. Uneven. Off.Lucian is crouched ahead, fingers pressed into a patch of frost that shouldn’t exist. The earth around it steams, dark and slick with something that looks like ash but moves like smoke.“This wasn’t here yesterday,” he mutters.“It wasn’t here three hours ago,” Ronin says from behind me, his tone grim. “And it’s spreading.”I kneel beside them. The frost hisses softly where my palm hovers above it — not from heat, but recognition. My wolf stirs like he’s trying to crawl out through my skin.Mine.No. Not ours. Not her. This is something older. The stench of blood magic is unmistakable — copper, rot, and old ink. But there’s something else underneath. Something cold and female, like breath on
