Three days after we got back from the hotel, my phone rang while I was in the kitchen helping Lucas with lunch.

I stared at the screen for a long second before answering.

“Hi,” I said.

“Sebastian.” Her voice was quieter than usual. Not the polished, controlled tone I was used to. “Are you free this afternoon?”
