“Do you have any idea what you’re doing?” Hilda asked as Dash picked a bow and arrow, trying to target it carelessly at the red bulls-eye. I know I should be an encouraging mother and support him but seriously, I wonder why he tries. He’s terrible at it. Even I could handle a club better than he can shoot an arrow.

‘I disagree. Someone dies anytime you get your hands on a club.’

‘The only thing that dies when I handle a club is my self-esteem… unfortunately.’

Hilda was watching Dash from a safe distance as he readjusted himself and got on a stance. She was shaking her head and I knew there were so many thoughts of how wrong his position is or how wrong his eye placement or how weakly he pulled his bow back… she was dying to correct him but was more interested in seeing him fail.
