2. Cupcakes Caught The Heart

WORLD CHANGE, WHEN EYES MEET.

EARLIER

But she had no idea that trouble was waiting for her outside the doors....

"Avery!" Tia came back running towards her. "That Godly handsome guy is asking for you!" She said and Avery's eyebrows crashed in confusion.

"For me? Does he know me?"

"Of course not silly! He is asking for the one who made the blueberry cupcakes." She said signaling towards her with her hand.

"Tell him I'm busy." She knows that it's her duty to appear whenever a customer asks to see the chef but she was not lying, this is one of the busiest hours of the day.

"Are you kidding me! You have to come! Come on!!!" Tia said and dragged her towards the door.

"Alright, fine! I'm going!" Avery said and made her way to the door and outside the kitchen.

"It's table 16." She heard Tia behind her. Table 16 is the most deserted table in the cafe, completely away from the rest. She knew that whoever the guy is, he prefers to be alone away from all the noise and is probably working, the typical cold kind. She arranged the table in the first place, especially thinking about people like him.

Avery moved towards the very table where the guy was sitting very elegantly. As soon as she saw his face, her steps halted. She knows him...

There, on the table sat one the most successful man of Europe, Riccardo Cassano. The richest man and the CEO of the biggest construction company in Italy. Being very up to date with the country's economy and affairs she knows about him.

Riccardo is known to be the most cold hearted and ruthless when it comes to business and there is absolutely no room for mistakes in his eyes. Avery has always looked up to him and his advices and comments in the magazines, newspapers and conferences.

But now that she saw him in person she realised that he is much different then what she thought and saw. Despite how handsome he looks, the aura around him was much dark and raw, the one that will make people think a thousand times before approaching him. But not to Avery.

She felt strangely attracted to the dangerousness that lurked around him.

Suddenly she realised that she was staring at him with an open mouth like an idiot. She looked down in embarrassment and slowly approached him.

As she came to stand in front of his table his eyes left his tab and the thick lashed rose, Avery's breath caught in her throat as she came across the inticising pair of charcoal eyes. They were so dark that for a moment she thought she saw crimson in them, and she almost found herself lost in them. It was when he lifted his eyebrow that she knew she was staring...again.

"Ahh... you called for me?" She said after a moment of deciding what to say, but she didn't like the way those words left her mouth.

"Did I?" He asked, looking a bit amused at something she didn't catch. His voice was so damn deep that it gave tingles in her core.

"Ahh well.. You called for the chef... who made the cupcakes....?" she said, locking her fingers together. She was not embarrassed to admit that she was nervous. It was something inevitable with his personality.

"Oh you made those cupcakes?" He asked and she could not help but notice a hint of surprise in his tone. Her eyebrows crashed together at that.

"Yes I did. And not only those, I made each one that you could see on all the other tables." I said confidently, folding my hands on my chest while he cast a look around the cafe with a raised eyebrow. Does he not believe I made them!? He's one arrogant guy.

"Well then Miss..?" He asked.

"Avery Remirez." She replied.

"Avery..." He said as if tasting it on his tongue. "Well I've got a job for you Avery. Work at my place I will give you three times what they are giving you. I would like to have these everyday." He said and Avery's eyes widened.

"Your place...?" She asked.

"My house. I liked the cupcakes very much but coming here everyday would be very inconvenient. I'm sure you could make other things just as well, I have a cook but I'll fire him right now if you say yes." He said as if he was striking a business deal. But Avery didn't like the arrogance that was wrapped around his every word.

She placed her slender fingers on her temple gently rubbing it, taking the situation in.

"Well Mr. Riccardo, your offer seems very inviting but I can't leave my cafe to come and cook at your house." She said.

"Your cafe? You mean this place is yours?"

"The very. I'm the owner here."

"Someone like you owns a small cafe? And working here too?" he said and Avery's eyes fired hearing low about her cafe.

"I don't see a problem. Now if you'll please excuse me, I'm busy." She said the dislike in her tone was evident. She made her way back to the kitchen and instantly started working again.

Who the hell does he think of himself!? Does money give him the right to say anything he wants!? That cold bastard! I hope I never have to see him again! She kept saying in her head as she kneaded the dough for donuts, taking out her frustration.
