"I'm so sorry," Damien whispered as he looked over Gretchen's sleeping face. He laid his head down beside her on the bed and softly slid his fingertips down her cheek. "I wanted to tell you Gretchen. I should've told you. I really can't blame you for being so angry. I see what you're thinking, but it's not true. It's not my fault I see things like I do. I just thought..I just thought if you could see the whole story laid out in front of you, that you'd understand why I've done the things I've done, not to make you someone else.
