Chapter 6

مؤلف: Superhero
It felt like all the blood in my body had turned to ice.

“When was I ever diagnosed with a mental illness? In my past life...”

But Mom had already hung up.

Once the officers confirmed that I had a psychiatric condition, their attitudes softened considerably. They told me to sit off to the side and calm down.

Jenna put on a magnanimous expression and declared that she wouldn’t hold a mentally ill man responsible.

What the hell was going on?

My parents had always been my strongest supporters.

Why had even they betrayed me this time?

I hadn’t even gotten the chance to enjoy the life I’d worked so hard for.

Was I really going to be locked in a psychiatric hospital and tortured all over again?

My car.

My condo.

I couldn’t just hand everything over to her for nothing.

I grabbed Jenna and refused to let go.

“Give me back my money, or we’ll die together!”

She kicked me hard and sent me flying.

I hit the ground, pain tearing through my body.

She shrieked in terror, “Officers, you can’t let this lunatic anywhere near me again!”

My lungs nearly burst with rage.

I was the victim!

Ignoring the officers trying to stop me, I lunged at her and began punching and kicking.

“Fine! Mentally ill people don’t get punished for assault, right? Then I’ll kill you!”

I’d had enough.

Why did Jenna get to take everything from me so easily?

Why did I have to sacrifice everything for her, only to be branded insane?

It wasn’t fair.

This time, I was dragging her down with me.

I completely lost control.

All I wanted was Jenna dead.

Even the officers struggled to pull me off her.

In the middle of the chaos, my parents finally arrived.

A doctor followed close behind them.

“Ethan! Why are you having another episode?” Mom cried. “I’m begging you. Stop throwing your future away like this!”

I was almost too exhausted to stay on my feet.

“What proof do you have that there’s anything wrong with me?”

To my shock, Mom actually pulled out a psychiatric evaluation.

My signature was right there at the bottom.

“Ethan, your father and I kept it from you because we wanted you to keep living a normal life.”

As she spoke, the doctor behind her approached with a syringe raised in one hand.

I was about to resist.

Then I saw her face.

In that instant, everything clicked.

I finally understood how this entire game had been played.

By the day of the trial, Jenna looked completely drained. She was led into the courtroom with her head hanging, like all the fight had gone out of her.The evidence was overwhelming, and every witness’s statement matched. We won the case with almost no difficulty.Jenna was convicted of fraud and ordered to repay every man she’d scammed.Because of the enormous amount involved, she was facing up to twenty years in prison.“I don’t even care whether I get the money back anymore,” one of the men said. “At least we finally got some justice. Maybe this will serve as a warning to other scammers. Take enough shortcuts, and sooner or later, they’ll catch up with you.”I hugged each of them and suggested we go out for a proper celebration. But Jenna called out to me before I could leave. She stared at me in silence, sadness pouring off her entire body.I cut her off before she could start another performance.“Just say what you want. Don’t bother playing the victim with me.”“We we

“No! I didn’t do anything! I swear I don’t know what they’re talking about. I’m being framed!”“Officers, please! I’m innocent! That bastard Ethan set me up!”Jenna kept screaming and protesting her innocence all the way to the police station. The man who ran the scam-training operation had already been arrested. Hoping for a lighter sentence, he immediately agreed to testify against her.“She was one of our best students. Of course, we gave her plenty of support.”“We had people pose as her friends. We also planted someone inside the county clerk’s office to intercept the paperwork and falsify the records.”“And that marriage-record website was one of our biggest expenses. We paid a professional to build a convincing fake system.”“She still owes us thirty thousand dollars!”If the officers hadn’t been holding her down, Jenna would’ve leaped out of her chair and attacked him.Liam stood nearby, watching her coldly. She immediately turned to him, desperate to prove her loyalt

The moment Jenna saw the police, she rushed toward them as if they were her salvation.“Officers, you have to do something about this lunatic! He’s harassing me again and claiming we’re married!”“Honestly, you should have him committed before he becomes a danger to society!”One of the officers gave her a cold look.“We are here to make an arrest.”Jenna’s face lit up.“See, Liam? I told you I was being harassed by a mentally unstable man! You’re the only person I’ve ever loved!”But the officers seized her arms instead.“Jenna Spencer, you’re suspected of defrauding multiple men. You need to come with us.”Panic flashed across her face.“What the hell is going on? Aren’t you here to arrest that lunatic? Why are you arresting me?”“We already know the truth,” Liam said. “You can stop pretending.”He flung the thick stack of evidence directly into her face.To satisfy the curiosity of everyone watching, I handed out copies of the documents I’d printed in advance.Gasps sw

Liam asked Jenna to meet him at the most romantic and expensive restaurant in town.Only the rich and powerful could afford to dine there. From across the room, I spotted Jenna dressed to the nines, looking every inch the elegant socialite. As always, she laid on the charm, making every moment feel perfectly romantic. Then the music started, and a staff member invited her onto the stage.Jenna seemed to realize what was happening. Her eyes lit up, and excitement practically radiated from her.Liam watched her quietly.“Is there anything you want to say to me?”Jenna eagerly took the microphone.“You’re the only man who’s ever made my heart race. I want to marry you and spend the rest of my life taking care of you.”The diners erupted into cheers, and several people began applauding. But under her expectant gaze, Liam calmly picked up another microphone.“If I’m the only man you’ve ever wanted, then what were the five boyfriends before me?”He paused.“Oh, sorry. I misspo

The man worked for a multinational corporation and made a decent salary. But he spent extravagantly and had never managed to save much. The moment we mentioned Jenna, his face twisted with rage.“That bitch! Every other word out of her mouth was about money.”“All she ever did was play the victim and tell sob stories. Before we broke up, she even conned me out of a car!”“I tried to get it back, but she threatened to cause a scene at my office!”When I asked about the timeline, I discovered that Jenna had already started seeing me a full year before they broke up.The three of us sat around the table, practically grinding our teeth to dust.“She must’ve scammed other men before us too. We’ll gather everything we can and make sure she has nowhere left to run!”Liam slammed his hand on the table and immediately called his assistant. Before we’d even finished the meal, all the information had been sent over. Before us, Jenna had dated three other men.Her scheme worked like a

It took Mom less than half a day to find out who the man was.“Good Lord. His name is Liam Walker, and his father owns a mining company. That family is filthy rich!”That immediately ruled out another theory I’d been considering.Less than two weeks after my death, Liam had already started visiting the condo under Jenna’s name on a regular basis.Given his family background, he wasn’t the kind of rich playboy who would casually fool around with a woman like Jenna. That could only mean they’d known each other for a long time and were already deeply involved. Now there were only two possibilities.Either Jenna and Liam had worked together to kill me.Or Jenna specifically targeted wealthy men.Furthermore, three million dollars would’ve been pocket change to someone like Liam.So I was leaning toward the second possibility. After thinking it over, I decided to arrange a meeting with him.His information wasn’t difficult to find.Rich heirs like him could never resist showing
