Chapter 7

Author: Stars
My mind went blank.

Those assets were meant for me. My father had worried I'd struggle in Grayson's pack, so he'd invested all of it for my sake.

He'd made it clear that everything belonged to me. So how had it ended up under Bianca's name?

The clerk saw the disbelief on my face and turned her screen toward me.

Every single asset was registered to Bianca.

But I couldn't remember ever transferring any of it to her.

I searched through the documents until I found the date on the last contract.

It was Bianca's birthday.

Suddenly, the pieces fell into place. I remembered that day.

Grayson had brought me a thick stack of contracts.

"Camille, I need you to sign these."

I was busy at the time, so I signed them without even looking.

I assumed it was just pack business.

I trusted Grayson completely. It never crossed my mind that he would deceive me.

Much less that he'd secretly give Bianca everything my father had given me.

On her birthday, I gave Bianca an expensive gemstone necklace, while Grayson didn't give her anything.

I remember wondering why. Then he said, "I already gave her something, and it was from both of us. We're about to become mates, so of course we're one."

I'd actually been happy to hear that. I thought Grayson was finally learning to keep some distance from Bianca.

I never dreamed that his gift from both of us was everything I owned.

I stared at the contract as all the strength drained from my body.

I sank into a chair, tears streaming down my face.

I'd been such a fool to trust him.

It took me a long time to pull myself together. Then I turned to the clerk.

"Is Grayson still in the administration building?"

She looked at me in alarm, hesitating over whether to answer.

I already had my answer.

"All right. I understand. Thank you."

The service desks were on the first floor, and Grayson's office was on the top floor.

I went straight for the elevator.

Those thirty seconds felt like a lifetime.

The doors finally opened, and I ran straight for his office.

One look at my face, and everyone moved out of my way.

I kicked the office door open.

Bianca was sitting on Grayson's lap, flirting with him. She didn't even bother getting up when she saw me. Instead, she gave me a smug look.

Grayson seemed to realize how bad it looked and gave her a warning glance.

Bianca didn't budge. He cleared his throat and said, "Bianca was asking me about some work. She's only sitting here because she needs to see my screen. Don't read into it."

The way he defended her without a second thought made my chest tighten.

I bit my lip and slammed the documents onto his desk.

"Grayson, what the hell is this?"

He glanced at the pages, frowned for a moment, then sighed like I'd barged in over nothing.

"That's what this is about? Did you really have to come storming in here over this?"

"Over this?"

Everything I owned, and he called it nothing.

"My father gave me those assets because he was worried I'd struggle in this pack. They were my only safety net, and you gave them away to someone else?"

Grayson didn't look guilty in the slightest. Instead, he made it sound like I was the unreasonable one.

"What do you mean, yours and mine? Your father invested those assets in my pack. And even if they really belonged to you, we're about to complete our mating ceremony. What's yours is mine. Besides, didn't you agree to this yourself?"

He pointed at my signature on the document.

"That's your signature right there. Bianca is a weak Omega with no family. She's all alone in this pack, barely getting by.

"I've always been like a brother to her. How could I not help her? Those assets give her some security here. If I can't even look after someone I consider my sister, what kind of Alpha would that make me?"

He genuinely believed he'd done nothing wrong. To him, I was throwing a fit over nothing.

All he cared about was his reputation, his authority as Alpha, and making sure Bianca had a place in the pack.

He didn't care about me. He didn't care what his favoritism had cost me.

He thought Bianca needed those assets to survive. Apparently, he'd forgotten why my father had given them to me in the first place—to make sure I could build a life of my own.

"Camille, who is this?" Julian. I hurried to his side like I'd found a lifeline."An old friend."Julian came over and slipped an arm around my shoulders. His voice remained gentle. "Let's go home. I made your favorite dinner."The sight of us together cut Grayson deeply. He pointed at him."Camille, who is this man?""He's my match. I forgot to mention it. Our mating ceremony is coming up soon. Not that it's any of your business."Grayson's face twisted."Stop joking with me, Camille. How can you have a mating ceremony with someone else? I'm your mate!"And I've cut Bianca off completely. She'll never interfere with us again."Let's go back and have our mating ceremony. Okay?"Julian's expression darkened. He stepped forward."Who the hell are you? You're asking my mate to have a mating ceremony with you right in front of me. Am I invisible?"Grayson had been glaring at Julian from the moment he appeared. That was enough to push him over the edge."Your mate? She's my mate! Camille is

I dragged myself out of the office, exhausted.A car pulled up beside me, and the window rolled down to reveal Julian Vance's handsome face."Get in. I'll take you home."Funny how things worked out. When my father first told me he'd found a match for me, I'd agreed without much thought. I hadn't even met the man.I certainly hadn't expected Julian to turn out to be one of our company's investors. We first crossed paths while I was meeting with clients. Something about him seemed familiar. Then he mentioned my father, and it clicked. He was the man my father had chosen for me.Only later did I learn our "chance" meeting hadn't been a coincidence at all. Someone had arranged it.I leaned back in the passenger seat and closed my eyes. Julian quietly handed me a bottle of water."You've had a long day. I'll give you a proper massage when we get home."I nodded.I had to admit, my father had good taste.Julian was handsome, thoughtful, gentle, and the Alpha of a large pack. He seemed like

Bianca clawed at her throat, desperately trying to vomit up the potion.Mara grabbed her by the neck. "There's plenty more. One bottle every day for seven days. Throw this one up, and you'll drink another today."Terrified, Bianca crawled to Grayson's feet."Grayson, please. I know I was wrong, I really do. Please let me go home."He shook his head. "I can't do that, Bianca. You're cursed. I'm doing this for your own good."Pain suddenly tore through her body. It felt like thousands of ants were gnawing her alive. She collapsed, writhing on the ground.Grayson watched without a word, then he headed for the door.Bianca scrambled after him. She couldn't stay in this hell. She barely made it two steps before the guards dragged her back. This time, Mara chained her down.Whatever hope Bianca had left disappeared. She slumped to the floor.Mara stood over her and smiled. "Well? Do you still want to be with Grayson?"Tears streamed down Bianca's face. She growled, "All I wanted was for Gray

The moment Bianca saw the diary, she froze. For a few seconds, she couldn't speak. Then the innocent act disappeared, and her face twisted with anger."What gives you the right to call me disgusting? You didn't seem disgusted when you were in bed with me."She yanked off her coat, exposing most of her body."Bianca, what are you doing? Put your clothes on!"She rested a hand on his shoulder and gave him a seductive look."Why are you playing the gentleman now? You've seen my body before. You called me disgusting. Fine. I'll show you disgusting."She shoved him against the wall and threw herself at him, trying to kiss him."Enough!"Grayson shoved her away. But Bianca grabbed his collar and came at him again."I really do love you. Why can't you be my mate? Why can't you belong to me alone? I love you so much, I really do..."Slap! Grayson's palm struck her across the face, snapping her head to the side."I have always thought of you as my own sister. Not once have I ever wanted anythin

He'd already lost the person he loved most.Pain twisted across Grayson's face.Only now did he realize how stupid he'd been. Bianca had played him for a fool, and he'd been blind enough to let her. He'd put her first again and again. He'd even given her everything Camille's father had given Camille.Bianca was the first woman he'd taken wedding photos with. She was the first woman he'd slipped a ring onto. She was the first woman he'd slept with.Grayson slapped himself hard across the face."I'm a bastard!"Now he finally understood the despair he'd seen in Camille's eyes. He'd hurt her so badly that there was nothing left to save.He called her. No answer. He called again. Nothing. He sent message after message.Still nothing.Desperate, he called Camille's best friend. The phone rang twice before she hung up without saying a word.Grayson kept calling. On the seventh call, she finally answered."Will you stop calling me? You're driving me insane!"Grayson ignored her anger. His voi

Grayson left the administration building in a daze. Before he knew it, he'd driven back to the house he'd shared with Camille.Night had fallen. The house was dark and eerily quiet.A sudden thought hit him. He rushed to Camille's room. It was empty. Everything she owned was gone.Grayson refused to believe it. He searched the entire house, desperate to find something—anything—that proved Camille had once lived there. There was nothing. It was as if she'd vanished without a trace.Instead, he found a diary hidden in a box under the bed.Camille had never kept a diary. Bianca did.Even before her diagnosis, Bianca had written down whatever was on her mind.Grayson used to read her diary, which was how he'd learned her likes and dislikes so well.It was also how he'd learned that Bianca envied Camille. She envied Camille for having a father who always protected her. She envied everything Camille owned. That was why Grayson had transferred all of Camille's assets to Bianca. But he'd never
