Adrian sat alone in the upper room of the Croft archive with two thin folders open under the low light, the paper edges already soft from how many times he had turned them, and the deeper he read the colder the picture became because both documents carried the same quiet poison, one set of signatures belonging to Lisa’s late father and the other belonging to Richard’s father, each page requiring the second man’s confirmation before certain private holdings and overseas transfers could be touched, and if either side discovered that these papers still existed the entire quiet path he had been building would collapse, so hacking was out of the question for now since any digital trace would light up every alarm the Hales still controlled.

He closed the folders slowly and leaned back, jaw tight, already calculating slower routes that would not wake the wrong people.

Across the city Lisa stood in front of her mirror with the court order still locked in her desk drawer and the silence from Adrian sitting heavier than she wanted to admit, and because nothing visible had moved on the accounts she had asked him to lock she told herself he was waiting for payment of some kind, that no man offered influence for free, after all he asked her to spend the night with him the other time….the thought settled in her with a hard, practical edge that left little room for pride.

She’s under restriction for now and the calendar is not yet on her side, so she'll definitely use her body to get what she wants. Adrian wanted something in return she would decide the currency before he did.

She chose the dress carefully, black and close-fitting, the kind that made her look older and sharper than the girl the court treated as fragile, then left the estate without telling anyone where she was going and had the driver take her to the Croft side of the city.

Her driver decieves everyone with the route of going to the Richard's whenever they were heading to see Adrian.

Adrian opened the door himself, for a moment he simply looked at her, and whatever neat order he had kept in his mind slipped. The dress sat against her skin like it knew what it was doing, the line of her throat and shoulders clear under the light, and his body reacted before he could stop it, heat dropping low and sharp as his cock hardened against the fabric of his trousers, the sudden pressure both unwelcome and impossible to ignore. He hated how quickly it happened, hated that the same woman who had come to him for strategy and revenge could stand there and pull this kind of answer from him without even speaking.

“Lisa,” he said, voice lower than he intended.

She walked in past him, satisfied by the effect of her presence, the soft scent of her perfume following, and turned once the door was shut. “You haven’t locked the accounts.”

“I’ve been working.”

“Not fast enough.” Her eyes moved over his face, searching. “I need it done. If you want something in return, say it.”

He understood the dress then, the late hour, the way she stood too close. Disappointment cut through the heat in his blood, clean and cold. “Put that idea away.”

“Why? You helped me before. People don’t help for nothing.”

“I don’t need you to pay like this.”

She stepped nearer anyway, close enough that he could see the faint tension in her shoulders and the decision already made in her eyes. “I’ve been thinking about the last time you touched me. The hug. I didn’t ask for it then. I’m asking now.”

His body tightened further at the admission, cock aching with the sudden clarity of how much he wanted to take what she was offering, to push the dress higher and bury the week’s frustration inside her until neither of them could think about court orders or dead sister and father who were killed under clean names. He stayed still by pure force of will.

“You’re doing this for the accounts,” he said.

“I’m doing this because I want the accounts finished and because I haven’t stopped thinking about you since that night.” Her voice stayed steady even as color rose in her face. “Both things can be true.”

Adrian let out a slow breath, the sound rough, He was impressed despite himself. She had become willing to use every weapon available, including her own body, and the same sharpness that made her useful also made her dangerous in ways that had nothing to do with papers. He reached out, caught her wrist before she could press closer, and held it firmly without pulling her in.

“No.”

The single word landed hard between them.

“I want you,” he said, honest and low, “and my body is not being quiet about it, but I am not taking you as payment for work I already planned to do. Sit down. We talk about the documents, not about this.”

For a moment she only stared at him, breath uneven, the refusal clearly not the outcome she had shaped in her mind. Then she gave a short, frustrated laugh and pulled her wrist free.

“You’re serious.”

“I am.” He stepped back enough to put clean space between them, though the heat in his blood did not fade. “There are two documents tied to your father and Richard’s father. Both need the second signature. If they learn the papers still exist, we lose the quiet path. Hacking would light up every system they watch. We move slower and cleaner. That is the work. Not this.”

Lisa sat, the sexy dress suddenly looking more like armor than invitation, and the tension in the room shifted from heat into something sharper and more practical. They spoke for a long time after that about routes, names, and fragments of your father’s letter still missing, the earlier offer left on the floor between them like a weapon neither would pick up again that night.

When she finally rose to leave, Adrian walked her to the door.

“Next time you want something from me,” he said, “bring the problem, not the payment.”

She looked at him for a long second, then nodded once and stepped into the night.

Across the city a different conversation took place on a private line.

“Richard is such an idiot,” the voice said, light with quiet amusement. “His so called girlfriend was alone at the restaurant late at night and he couldn't even stay out there with her to ease boredom. Well, I cared enough to send a guard to pick her up.”

The person on the other end laughed. “She’ll definitely be thinking her man really cares about her. Such a foolish girl…when I'm done handling little Richard in between his legs I'll make sure I bear him a hier.”

“Oh please, Richard has his eyes only for Lisa, a little poor wretched human like you won't even be able to get close to him until I have tried my luck.”

The line stayed open a moment longer as they both argued, then went dead, leaving the night to the peoplele still moving pieces in the dark.

  • The Day I stopped Loving You    Four Weeks Later

Four weeks later my mother was discharged. The estate felt different with her back in it, quieter in some ways, heavier in others. I had spent the morning reviewing the limited reports the temporary administrator still allowed me to see when the staff announced an unscheduled visitor.Richard’s father. …What a Wow!!I reached the main sitting room just as he was being shown in. My mother sat on the long sofa, still careful with her movements. He greeted her with polished warmth, but his eyes did not stay on her. They moved across the room, the doorways, the visible hall beyond, lingering a second too long on the spaces that led deeper into the house, measuring, assessing, like a man already deciding what could be taken.I stepped fully into the room.“Looking for something?” I asked. He turned, smile already in place. “Lisa. You’ve grown sharper since we last spoke.”“And you’ve grown bolder, walking through my house like you’re measuring it.”My mother’s voice cut in quickly, low and

Lisa walked into the Loneria private lounge at exactly 7:00 p.m. wearing a simple cream dress and a calm expression that cost her more effort than she wanted to admit, and Richard was already there, standing the moment she entered with surprise flickering across his face before he controlled it.“You asked to meet,” he said.“I did.” She sat without waiting for an invitation. “We need to talk about the court order.”Richard remained standing a second longer before taking the seat across from her, the table between them feeling wider than it should have.“I’ve already spoken to my father,” he said. “He’s not willing to withdraw the filing.”“I know.” Lisa kept her voice even. “That’s not why I’m here.”He watched her carefully. “Then why?”“Because fighting him head-on right now will only make the restrictions tighter. I need the company stable until I’m fully free of the order, that means fewer public clashes, that means you stop looking like the enemy in every room we share.”Richard

  • The Day I stopped Loving You    LITTLE LIONESS.

Now, we both have our common enemies clear as crystal. “It's late Lisa, come spend a night at my place before your lurking enemies get you kidnapped on your way back.” “Huh” I stared at him in disbelief. “Spend a night at your place? You're so ridiculous.” I grabbed my purse, ready to walk out on him. “Hey hey hey little Lioness, hold up lets rub minds together.” Adrian cleared his throat softly, his arrogance and habit of always being right and smart is already getting on my last nerves but I need his alliance. “To get all you want done peacefully…you have to embrace Richard and treat him like you care.” Tsk. I hissed bluntly, I don't care about his feelings anymore, I refuse to be his puppet….”“Cut that crap right now Lisa, love rules above all. Yeah I know and we've seen that he's going to hurt you but we have to prevent it with Wisdom so he won't ally with his father and bring you down which will slow down our work.” “Makes sense.” my face twitched slightly again. “I'll t

OUTSMART THE Smartest The call ended up pissing me off the most as I sat on the edge of the bed with the phone still in my hand ... .My jaw was tight, my bandaged fingers pressed hard into the sheets, pressure from my anger won't let the glasscut heal. Adrian’s last words were still in my ear…“Change of plan. Meet me at the main restaurant instead. I will be late, Something urgent came up.”Then the line went dead.I stared at my phone…. Main restaurant, a public place that's always busy even at night. Not the old Croft building, my shoulders were already stiff with anger, and the sudden change only made it worse. I did not understand why he would switch locations at the last second. I only knew I needed to see him.I stood up too fast as the chair scraped against the floor. I pulled on a dark coat, shoved the phone into my pocket, and left my room without looking back. The hallway quietly complimented my swift movement, a maid stepped aside when she saw my face and did not ask wher

  • The Day I stopped Loving You    UNTIL EIGHTEEN.

The summons came without warning. It arrived on heavy cream paper with the official seal of the city’s corporate and family court. A quiet clerk delivered it, she refused to answer questions, and left at once. I read the document in the study and byy the time I finished, my ears were ringing. The paper said that because I was still a minor and had shown recent erratic behavior, public confrontations, and decisions made without adult oversight, I was temporarily restricted from running Loneria International Medical Center and all related holdings until I turned eighteen. The order had been filed under emergency protective rules.I read it twice, then a third time... The words did not feel real. When I finally put the paper down, my hands stayed steady only because I forced them to.Within the hour the board was told, within two hours some of the internal system locks began to change. By late afternoon a temporary administrator arrived with two silent aides. He spoke with cold polite
