The Day My Family Spoke Over Me

"Faith, don't be rude to your grandmother."I tried to wipe the sauce off my face, but Faith merely laughed louder and repeated in Datrenan, "What an idiot!"I burned with humiliation. "Faith, didn't I tell you to use Cathayan at home? I don't understand other languages."Alas, she just rolled her eyes at me and complained to my son, Noah Chapman, "Dad, Grandma's so dumb. I don't want to sit with her."Noah and his wife, Zoey Wagner, had their eyes peeled on their phones and had been ignoring Faith's actions. I got angry and smacked the back of Faith's head. "Is this how I taught you? Where are your manners?"Zoey, who had been silent, looked up immediately and snapped at me, "Nora, Faith is just a child. Why did you do that to her?"I stared at her in disbelief. "Are you going to ignore the fact that she threw food at me first?"Zoey shrugged nonchalantly. "She was just being a kid. I'm sure it didn't hurt. Besides, you must've been mistreating her for her to hate you so much."

When I got home, Zoey and Kasey were chatting away happily while Connor was reading on the sofa.Connor shot me a glare and reprimanded, "Look at the time. You wandered outside for so long that you forgot to cook. This is ridiculous!"I wanted to slap him so much, but I was hungry. So, I made myself a plate of spaghetti instead.I went back into the kitchen to grab a fork, but came out to see Connor and Kasey helping themselves to my food.On the other hand, Noah and Zoey were complaining, "Mom, where's ours? It's so little. How is it enough for all of us? You're so stingy."Connor commented as he stuffed his mouth full, "She's always been selfish. See how little meat she used. It's so salty. A country woman will always be a country woman. She'll never have any class."He continued, "When I was abroad, I only ate in high-end‌ restaurants. Even the waitresses were more refined than your mom. People spoke softly and elegantly, unlike her."He was on a roll when I flipped the plate

"Today, we'll be learning the many ways of walking down a catwalk. How should women walk to appear more elegant, genteel, and demure? Well, a woman must always wear stockings and high heels. In other countries...""What on earth are you teaching? We're all in our 50s and 60s! High heels? What if we fall?" one of the women questioned sharply.Disdain flashed across Kasey's face. "Madam, I've been abroad for decades. I believe I am more qualified...""Tsk! Who cares if you lived abroad before? Did the foreigners teach you how to seduce your neighbor's husband? Is that why you were able to become a married man's mistress and leech off of him? The man's wife is here, yet you have the nerve to continue bragging!"Kasey's face turned bright red."I want a refund! What kind of etiquette class is this? How dare a shameless homewrecker like you speak of elegance and refinement? I would rather burn my money away than give any to you! Give me back my money now!"Dozens of women were screami

After I finished my meal, I placed my plate in the sink. After Noah and Zoey moved abroad, I expressed the hope for them to take up the responsibility of raising Faith. After all, it was quite hard for me to handle that on my own.Zoey had instantly burst out into a tirade that lasted over 40 minutes. She went on and on about how she had planned to be child-free forever, and it was all my fault for always pushing her for kids. Apparently, the one thing she hated the most was kids. In her eyes, I was Faith's grandmother, so why couldn't I raise her on my own?In truth, it was Noah who wanted a son. Zoey had a spine made out of a wet noodle, so she went along with his wishes. Unfortunately, they ended up with Faith, a girl. They were so disappointed that they used an excuse to run off while leaving the child with me.They wanted to be child-free, right? She hated kids, right? I would help Zoey out then. There was no need to give birth to this baby.Faith stayed with me for 10 days
