The forest swallowed the last trace of the attacker.

I stood between the trees, listening.

Nothing.

No footsteps.

No movement.

Not even the sound of leaves shifting beneath someone’s feet.

I raised my head and breathed in slowly.

The scent was faint.

Human.

But there was something else beneath it.

A bitter smell that reminded me of old metal and burnt herbs.

I moved forward.

A guard appeared between the trees.

“Nothing on this side.”

“Keep searching.”

He nodded and disappeared.

~Ronan~For a moment, I could not move. The King stood before me with my face, my eyes, and my voice. Even the small scar near his left eyebrow was the same one I had carried since childhood. But I had never seen him before.“Ronan, the King is your firstborn son,” the Queen repeated. Her words seemed to crawl beneath my skin.My firstborn son?I looked at Lisa. Her expression was just as confused as mine. She held Milo close, while his twin stood beside her, his silver eyes fixed on the King.“That’s impossible,” I said. The King tilted his head.“Is it?”I stared at him. “I have never had a son before Milo.”“Not in the life you remember.”The words made my stomach tighten.Behind me, Victor let out a sharp breath. Elias stepped forward, his eyes moving between the King and me. Desmond stood near the chamber entrance, his injured arm pressed against his side.Nobody spoke. The Queen smiled.“You see? He knows the truth. He simply cannot remember it.”“Stop talking,” I snapped. Her s

~Ronan~Two small hands reached toward me from beneath the black water. One glowed gold. The other silver. Both belonged to my sons. The Queen stood beside the pool, her face twisted into a cruel smile."Choose, Ronan."I stared at her."Bring them both out.""That is not how this works.""Then change the rules."She laughed."You still believe you have a choice?"I looked down at the hands beneath the water.Milo was in Lisa's arms, barely conscious. The silver mark on his chest had spread across his skin, and his breathing had become shallow. The other boy was trapped beneath the pool.I could feel him reaching for me.I could hear him calling my name. And I knew that if I chose Milo, the other child would die.If I chose the other child, Milo might never survive. But I refused to accept either outcome."Ronan!" Lisa screamed.I turned. She was holding Milo against her chest, tears running down her face."His heart is stopping!"Elias rushed toward them."Keep him still!"He pressed

~Ronan~The chamber trembled. The golden light in his eyes spread until his pupils disappeared.Milo suddenly lifted his head."Brother?"The other boy looked at him.Something passed between them that none of us could see. Then Milo began to glow.Gold light spread across his chest, meeting the silver lines that had covered his skin. The two colors formed a complete circle.Elias stared in disbelief."The marks are joining."The Queen took a step backward."No."The boys reached toward each other.I pulled Milo closer."What's happening to them?"Elias looked at me, alarmed."They're trying to reconnect.""Reconnect what?""The power that was divided between them."The Queen raised both hands."Separate them!"The black darkness rushed forward again. But before it could reach us, a bright light burst from the boys. The force sent everyone stumbling.I fell to one knee, holding Milo tightly against my chest. Lisa grabbed my shoulder to keep herself upright. When the light faded, the b

~Ronan~"Touch either of my sons, and I'll tear this place apart."The Queen smiled. She stood beside the black pool wearing Evelyn's face, but there was nothing familiar about the expression in her eyes. They were completely silver, without a trace of warmth. My arms tightened around Milo. Both of my sons. The words kept repeating in my mind.Lisa had given birth to twins, and someone had stolen one of them. For years, we had been searching for answers about Milo's heart, his unusual awakening, and the royal mark on his chest. Now we were standing before a woman who claimed she had taken both children.I wanted to kill her.But I couldn't risk moving too quickly with Milo in my arms. The Queen studied me with mild amusement."Such a devoted father. Tell me, Ronan, would you still feel that way if you knew what your sons were destined to become?""I don't care about their destiny.""Of course you don't. You are an Alpha. You believe everything can be solved with strength."She raised

~Lisa~A loud crack split the chamber. The glass enclosure shattered.I screamed and pulled Milo against my chest as fragments scattered across the floor. The child inside the enclosure stepped out.His black eyes had turned gold.He looked directly at Milo."Brother."Milo began shaking. The child took another step."Give me my heart.""No!" I shouted. The child stopped. For a moment, he looked confused. Then his gaze shifted toward me."Mother, why are you protecting him?""I'm protecting my son.""But I'm your son too."My chest tightened.I couldn't understand why he believed that, but the pain in his voice was real.He looked at the Keeper."You promised me she would love me."The Keeper's expression changed."I never promised that.""You said she would come for me!""I said the truth would bring her here."The child stared at him in disbelief. Then he turned toward me."Do you know why I was left in that cradle?"I shook my head."Because the Queen wanted you to forget me," he s

~Lisa~"Mother, you have brought me my brother. Now give me my heart."The words came from the child inside the glass enclosure.I couldn't move.Milo was crying in Ronan's arms, his small fingers gripping his father's shirt as if the world were about to swallow him whole. Beside the enclosure, Aurel stood frozen, staring at the child with a mixture of hope and terror. And the strange boy who had emerged from the black pool was smiling."Don't listen to him," Aurel warned. The child inside the enclosure pressed his palms against the cracked glass."Why are you keeping me here, Mother?"My throat tightened."I'm not your mother."His black eyes filled with tears."You said you would come back for me.""I've never seen you before!"The moment the words left my mouth, the chamber shook.Aurel grabbed my arm."Lisa, stop answering him!""Why? What is happening?""Because he can use your words against you!"The glass cracked again.Ronan pulled me backward, keeping Milo between us."Everyo
