"Like it?"

Silas’s voice was a low rumble in my ear. He was still hard inside me.

I leaned against his broad chest, feeling his heart hammer against his ribs. The air was thick with our mingled scents—sweat and sex. Dangerous. Addictive.

"I do," I answered honestly.

My body would always betray me for him. It was the curse of being his fated mate.

Not even now. Not even when I knew what was coming next.

Silas chuckled, satisfied. His fingers traced the scars crisscrossing my back. Trophies from battles I’d fought and won for him. Each one was a testament to my worth as the pack's deadliest warrior.

"This is the last time, Ember."

There it was.

My body went rigid, but I didn't push him away.

"In seven days, on the full moon, I’m holding a mating ceremony with Ravenna, the Alpha’s daughter from the Sunfire Pack," Silas said, his voice flat. "When that happens, our fated mate bond will just… sever."

I closed my eyes, forcing my breathing to stay even.

Fated mates were supposed to be forever. The Moon Goddess herself had bound our souls. A sacred promise that he was about to break.

"Ember?" Silas sensed my silence. "What's the hesitation?"

I opened my eyes and met his deep, dark gaze.

"Nothing, Alpha. Congratulations on finding a suitable mate."

Silas raised an eyebrow, a flicker of surprise in his eyes.

"You need to understand. You were nothing more than a tool to keep my wolf in check," he said, sitting up and pulling on his clothes. "You did a good job this past year. I'll see you're well-compensated. Gold, jewels… whatever you want."

A tool.

The word shot through my heart like a silver bullet.

"Thank you for your generosity, Alpha," I said with a smile. "I wish you both a long life and many strong pups."

Thunder cracked outside, and lightning tore across the sky.

A blinding white flash filled the room.

I started shaking, unable to stop myself.

"Ember." Silas's voice turned soft. He pulled me back into his arms. "You're still scared of bright lights?"

His hand gently stroked my hair, the same way he used to comfort me when I was a frightened pup.

"Weakness is a death sentence for a Beta," I mumbled, biting my lip.

"But you're my Beta." He leaned down and kissed my forehead. "One last time. Let me comfort you one last time."

Tears streamed silently down my face as I nodded into his chest. His powerful Alpha scent wrapped around me, chasing away the terrible memories for a moment. This was the power of the mate bond. The warmth I was about to lose.

A phone rang, shattering the quiet.

Silas answered, his voice instantly filled with concern. "Ravenna? What's wrong?"

"I twisted my ankle, it hurts so much…" a delicate voice cried from the other end. "Silas, I need to see you."

I almost scoffed. A sprained ankle? An Alpha-blooded she-wolf would heal from that in minutes. Pathetic.

But Silas was already on his feet.

"Go to her," I said softly. "Your future Luna needs you."

Silas glanced at me, a complex look in his eyes.

"Get some rest," he said, then left.

The room was empty, except for me and the storm.

I pulled the blankets around myself, letting the memories wash over me.

Ten years ago, the explosion of silver bombs ripped the night apart. A blinding white light swallowed everything. My pack fell, screaming.

That night, the Silver Moon pack was wiped out.

I lay in the rubble, my eyes nearly blind, listening to the dying howls of my family.

It was Silas who found me. Just a fourteen-year-old boy Alpha then.

He brought me to the Black Moon pack and gave me a new name.

First, I was his servant. Then, his weapon. Finally, the pack’s deadliest Beta.

When I turned eighteen and our mate bond snapped into place, I thought I’d finally found my happiness.

But Silas said I could only be his secret lover.

"The pack needs an alliance to be strong," he’d said. "Once I am the Alpha King, I will claim you publicly."

I believed him.

I waited for three years.

And now he was telling me it was all just for convenience.

I pulled the mysterious letter from my nightstand.

Two days ago, a mysterious letter arrived. It spoke of another survivor from the Silver Moon pack.

It might be my little brother.

It was time to leave.

I got dressed and went straight to Marcus's office. As Silas's second-in-command, he was the only one who could process my request.

"I want to leave the pack," I said, getting straight to the point.

The papers in Marcus's hands fell to the floor.

"What did you say?" he stared at me, shocked. "You want to leave the pack?!"

Ember’s POVThe war was over.Ravenna's screams had stopped. Her blood stained the moonlit earth. She was dead, killed by Kian's claws. The once-proud daughter of the Sunfire Alpha was now just a cold corpse."Send the order," Kian said, wiping the blood from his claws. "Round up the remaining forces. We take control of the Alliance."A month later, the werewolf world had changed forever. The High Council issued a judgment harsher than any in history: all wolves who participated in the Silvermoon massacre, regardless of rank, were to be exiled or executed. The Sunfire Pack was completely destroyed. The once-glorious family was now just dust in the pages of history. The Blackmoon Pack, led by Marcus, knelt before the Silverfang banner and begged for mercy."On behalf of the Blackmoon Pack, I surrender to the Silverfang," Marcus said, his head bowed. "Please, Alphas, forgive our sins."I looked at these once-proud wolves and felt nothing.Revenge was complete.Blood for blood.A new orde

Silas’s POVNo.I refused to accept this.Ember was mine. From the moment I saved her, she was mine.Even if I'd hurt her, even if I'd made an unforgivable mistake, she could not belong to another."Gather every warrior from the Blackmoon Pack," I ordered Marcus. "We're going to war.""Alpha, are you insane?" Marcus stared at me, horrified. "Do you know what it means to declare war on the Silverfang?""I know," my voice was cold as iron. "But I will not stand by and watch her marry someone else."Three days later, the Blackmoon army stood at their border.I stood at the front, facing the Silverfang banners."Silas," Ember's voice carried on the wind."Did you really think the Blackmoon Pack alone could defeat us?" Her laugh was full of scorn. "Kian and I prepared for this revenge for three years. Did you think we would only rely on pack law?"As she spoke, war horns blared from the trees on all sides. Silverfang warriors poured from the forest, their silver armor glinting like a wave o

Silas’s POVI rose to my feet. My Alpha power exploded, silencing the room.Every whisper died."Silence," my voice boomed through the hall. "I was aware of the raid against the Silvermoon Pack, but I did not know the details."I looked at Ember. She was still staring at me with that cold, empty gaze."Since the Silverfang has made an accusation and presented evidence, as Chairman of the Alliance, I declare that the High Council of Elders will launch a full investigation.""No!" Ravenna screamed. "It's all lies made up by that traitor!""Until the investigation is complete, all members of the Sunfire Pack will be detained," I ignored her protests. "Guards, execute the order."The guards swarmed forward, seizing Ravenna and her pack members. As they dragged her away, she shot me a venomous look. "Silas! You'll regret this!"After the assembly, I watched Ember leave with Kian, her head resting on his shoulder. The trust and reliance she showed him was something she had never given me.Sh

Silas’s POVThree years. For three whole years, I used all my power to find Ember, but she had vanished from the face of the earth. No trace. No word. Nothing.I was now the Chairman of the Werewolf Alliance, as I'd planned, with absolute power. But my heart felt hollow, like a vital piece was missing. The All-Pack Alliance Assembly was held in the Great Hall of the Full Moon. Alphas from every pack had gathered.Ravenna was on my arm, dressed in a magnificent golden gown, looking every bit the perfect Alliance Luna. But I knew the panic she hid.I hadn't touched her in three years. Her womb remained empty.Without an heir, her position was fragile."Those two Omegas, they will be my footstools!" Ravenna pointed a sharp finger at two maids in the corner. "My shoes will not touch this dirty floor!"The two Omegas trembled, dropping to their hands and knees to become her human footstools.Pack members around us whispered, their eyes filled with disdain.A Luna with no heir, using cheap t

Ember’s POVAfter three days of treatment, I felt something waking up inside me.It was a power I’d never known, as if something long suppressed had finally broken free."Your bloodline has fully awakened," the healer said in awe. "This is the purest Silvermoon blood I've seen, second only to the Alpha's."Kian stood by my bed, his expression complicated."Do you know who your father was?" he asked softly.I shook my head. No one had ever told me anything about my birth parents."Felix, the strongest warrior of the Silvermoon Pack," Kian's voice was full of respect. "The only Beta in legends who could rival the Alpha King."The strongest warrior?I looked down at my hands, feeling the power coursing through my veins. So this was my true heritage."Kian, I promise you," I clenched my fists, "I will get revenge with you. For our people!"But Kian just took my hand gently."I just felt you had a right to know the truth," he said, shaking his head. "Just knowing you’re safe… my last pack-s

Silas’s POVI tore out of the pack lands, racing north.Drops of blood dotted the ground under the moonlight. It was Ember’s blood. I knew the scent. The farther I went, the more blood I found. At the edge of the border, a large pool of it soaked into the dirt. She collapsed here.I dropped to my knees before the pool of blood. My hands trembled as I touched the congealed stains. So much blood… How could she still be alive?"Alpha!" Marcus caught up, panting. "You can't go any further!""She’s bled this much!" I roared. "She's going to die!""It was her choice!" Marcus grabbed my arm. "For the alliance, you can't—"Suddenly, Ravenna’s voice slammed into my mind—a mind-link."Silas, what the hell is going on?" Her voice was a mix of anger and hurt. "If you don't come back right now, I'm returning to the Sunfire Pack, and the alliance is off!"Damn her.My fists clenched, nails digging into my palms. If the alliance failed, our packs would go to war.
