Dominic's POV

It had been hard to let Alessia go and worse, picking Sophia. But it was all for the best. I knew Matteo wouldn't let me down.

But I had to get rid of Sophia one way or the other. She had been trying so hard to get me to sleep with her.

First was the temptation that was useless because I didn't find her attractive. I only had one woman in my heart, and I hurt her badly.

Then, she started to spike my drink. I had been watching her from behind, and she didn't notice.

That made me suspicious. She couldn't possibly be that sex-starved not to be able to control herself, especially since I never made her feel like I was interested in her.

I practically ignored her every day. All that was left was to weaken her financially and in the Mafia world. Then, I would have her to my total will.

I smirked as I walked out of the room and down the hallway, walked outside, and got into the backseat of the car.

The driver started the engine. We were speeding on the road when I spoke out. “

  • The Deadly Obsession   Chapter 119

Sophia's POVWhen the one who chases gets chased, every shadow looks scary.“Stay calm,” I said into the phone, holding it tight to my ear even though it crackled. “You can’t move. Not until I say it’s okay.”Flynn’s rough breathing came through the phone. "I’m… hurt, Sophia. I can’t go anymore. I can’t make it.”I didn’t want to hear him say that. It made me really scared. “You’re not going to die. Not now or ever,” I said.Flynn sounded weak.I scanned around me with my eyes, making sure no one saw me or heard me. I couldn't trust anyone in this house. The grand house suddenly felt smaller than ever. “Listen to me. Don't move if you're going to lose any more blood. Did anyone follow you?” I asked.“No,” he said. “I changed lanes. If they ever find me though it might be because they traced my blood and that's not much of anything,” he said and laughed weakly.Jackass. He coughed. “I need you to send me your location now. I’ll make sure someone’s there.”His breathing was raspy and I

  • The Deadly Obsession   Chapter 118

Sophia's POV“She's dumb. Just like most blondes,” he added.I hated that stereotype. I wasn't dumb.“But you married her mother. Would you say she was dumb too?” Another man asked. My father sipped his orange juice and didn't say anything but shrug. The other men laughed. Sometimes, I wondered what my mom ever saw in my dad to stay with him. Maybe that's why I was also here fighting for his attention.“All women are dumb,” my father answered. “You just have to find the one that's a bit manageable.”They laughed together this time. I wasn't having it.“No, we aren't,” I blurted. It was too late to take it back. I knew the consequences. I was getting the ass whipping tonight. My father gave me the ‘did you just dare? eyes.I remained calm. What's the worst that could happen anyway? I had more thick skin in me.“Ooh. She's bold. She's definitely your daughter,” another man spoke. He had dirty blonde hair unlike my bright ones.Salvatore came forward and asked. “Since you're that bold, y

  • The Deadly Obsession   Chapter 117

Sophia's POVI walked out through the transparent moving doors. I was panting and didn't want to stay a minute in that place. Getting food was a totally bad idea. The bodyguard followed me closely.I made a mis-step and almost fell. The bodyguard helped me up and I thanked him.I pressed my back against the cold wall, my eyes darting up and down the empty corridor. I was so many steps away from the street, and yet Martina’s face was still burned into my mind like a brand.I had seen her standing outside the mini restaurant building just moments ago. She was fading into the crowd on the sidewalk as she tried to catch up with me.Now, I was far from my car and in the middle of some damn street I didn't know.I felt all kinds of emotions in my heart. Mostly anger, then fear. Just seeing her, even that single glance, had snapped something in me.Martina’s face flashed in my mind, and years of anger tightened my gut. She was my father’s firstborn, beautiful, and used to be the apple of Don

  • The Deadly Obsession   Chapter 116

Dominic's POVHell on earth. Fire in my mouth. How did I get here? With my hands. I listened. I got deceived. It was my fault. Now I take the burn. I have to suffer. But not as she did. Nothing I will ever do will be enough to appease for the wrongs I did.“Betrayed. My father? Friends,” my thoughts roamed in my head.I heard wrong. That had to be it. My brain was playing with me.My eyes locked with the old man's. He didn't mince his words. He didn't blink either.“What did you just say?” I asked again. I had to be sure this time.“Your father's murder. Surely, you know about that.”“Yes,” I said and paused. “It was Cotti's doing.”Achille shook his head slowly. “The Cottis. As in Carlo Cotti?”My gaze turned to him and I stayed silent.Achille had an eyebrow raised and lowered it before he spoke. “Then you were told lies.”I leaned forward. “I don't understand.”He sighed, then breathed calmly before looking away and sipping his tea. “Your father—Luca—wasn’t just a businessman. He w

  • The Deadly Obsession   Chapter 115

Dominic's POVHome had never felt this foreign, yet the city whispered my name like it had been waiting all along. It was midnight in Rome. I went alone, ditching the cars and the rich attitude and dressing.I made sure to be as comfortable as possible and dress the same way too.My ears were close to bleeding as the train screeched into the terminal with a sharp hiss.Diego, the devil, had convinced me to take a train ride. Oh, I loved it. But I got to sit by the window, and for some weird reason, I had unluckily gotten a lot of attention from the other passengers. It wasn't in a bad way, but they could sure as hell look a lot.The only things I could find in my closet that didn't smell too rich were an olive Merino sweater that fit just right, and tailored tobacco chinos, with taupe suede Chelsea boots. Plus, a camel cashmere coat and scarf for the cold. It was great that Rome rarely had snow and it was always light because I wasn't a fan of the cold. It was the fall season.I made

  • The Deadly Obsession    Chapter 114

Dominic's POVNever in a million years did I ever think of time travel. Yet, I was here back at the old house. It was one of the oldest properties we had before all hell broke loose.I had left it, but not abandoned it because it held most of my childhood. My father has a lot of estate buildings, and this was the first I found out I had my name on my will.“This is it?” Diego asked.“Yes. Disappointed?” I asked. He looked out the window and shrugged before parking a few feet away from the house.“Nah,” he replied. “If anything, I'm thrilled. I bet not everyone knows you have something as comfortable and small as this.”I turned my gaze to the view by the side and smiled with a happy, childlike recollection before I answered. “Not really. It's where I started.”Diego got out of the car and enjoyed the view. I smirked again, remembering he wasn't Matteo who would have gotten the door opened for me.I recalled Matteo saying, “Being your P.A is essentially me giving you the princess treat
