Dominic's POV

I didn't know what to do.

Alessia was avoiding me. She had ignored me on the stairs and even when I followed her to the kitchen. Her gaze was repulsive when I touched her and there was only anger and hate in it.

I couldn't place my hands on what I did to make her angry at me?

We had been greater the night before. I couldn't take it anymore. I got out of the office. I had been sorting some important files and going through every business update.

The French investors had started buying shares. I was going to send some representatives soon to the investors to check out their company's software. Alessia was the best for this. She was my head of cyber security after all.

I had been so happy to tell her the news because I knew how much she loved to work. I had kept her restrained indoors for too long and I noticed how gloomy she felt every time she couldn't leave for work.

At first, I had locked her up for my satisfaction. Now, it was for her safety. I got out of bed and wore

Dominic's POV“Wait…no,” Diego said with that same tone, as if speaking the clause any louder would alter reality. But the silence that greeted my identity was the loudest sound I’d ever heard.“You killed her family?” Max repeated, his voice cracking. “You actually killed the Cottis?”I didn’t answer.“What the hell, Dominic?” Max pushed himself upright, still favoring his ribs. “Say something!”The look in his eyes was fury—but there was disbelief there, too, like he needed to hear me deny it so he could believe I wasn’t the monster he thought I was.I didn’t give him that comfort.“Say. Something,” he growled again, taking one limping step forward. My jaw clenched. “You already heard it.”Max’s mouth dropped open. He stared at me just as though he didn’t know who I was. “Jesus Christ,” he whispered. “She loved you. Alessia —and she allowed herself to fall for you. And you—”“Don’t act like you understand what the hell happened between us,” I snapped.“Oh, I don’t?” he said, his voi

Dominic's POV:I did not take the time to make sure Diego was buckled in. I slammed in the gearbox and shot down the driveway like the brakes had escaped the car. The tires screeched as I took the first corner too quickly. Diego swore quietly and suddenly scrabbled for the handle above the suddenly swinging door, as though his life hung on its coordinates. She's gotta know. Any of them. I have to find them before it is too late. Where could have Sophia taken them? What did she do with them? Those thoughts occupied my mind and wouldn't leave no matter how much I tried.I forced myself to be in control and act right. My gold tightened on the wheel and I made a big swerve.“Oooh!” Max and Diego yelled.“Slow down, you asshole!” Diego yelled.“Dude! Are you trying to kill us before we get there?” he cried out, the seatbelt snapping tight across his chest.“I’m trying to get there before they disappear again,” I growled, my eyes straight out on the road.I did not take my foot of the pedal

  • The Deadly Obsession   Chapter 92

Dominic's POVMatteo walked into the living room. I had already bathed and rushed everything. I picked whatever I could find in my closet and settled for a casual jean, white fitted polo shirt and a black bomber jacket.“Any news?” I asked as I wore the jacket.“No yet. The men are searching. They can't find them only traces of tire prints,” he answered.“So, there was a car?” I asked. And Matteo nodded.“Max's,” Matteo responded.“That's it. I'm going to find them myself,” I retorted in anger yet in a calm voice. He blocked my path and tried to calm me. “I don't think that's the best plan.”“Not the best plan?” I almost yelled. “My girlfriend and kids have been kidnapped and going after them is not the best plan. What is the best plan?!”“Calm down,” Matteo pacified me. “For all we know. The men are tracking them.”“For how long?” I breathed. “It's been an hour and I haven't heard shit.”“We have to wait. Attacking anyone could be very dangerous,” Matteo lectured.“I'm not going afte

  • The Deadly Obsession   Chapter 91

Max's POVSomewhere between the sharp call of a bird and the sting in my skull, I surfaced. My vision flickered on the green leaves against an impossible blue sky. Dirt crunched beneath my cheek as I forced an arm up to shield my eyes.Where the hell was I?Pain bloomed at my temple, hot and pulsing. I blinked, slow and clumsy, till the world snapped into focus. Last night tripped through my mind like a broken reel: the screech of tires, the flash of metal, Ella’s terrified scream.I pushed onto my side, then flipped onto my back, staring at the sun drilling through the trees. I let the heat wash over me, steadying my breath.I sat up fast, with the adrenaline surging in my veins.“Where are they?” I rasped, voice raw as gravel.I stood, knees trembling under the weight of blood and regret. A slight pain hit my chest and I looked down to see a small blood stain on my chest.I hissed and pressed my left palm to my temple. My head ached badly. It felt like it would explode any second.M

  • The Deadly Obsession   Chapter 89

Alessia's POVI couldn't take it anymore. I felt dizzy and almost fell but Max caught me.“Careful,” he said. “And how are you so sure the video wasn't doctored?”Ella and I almost tore him down with our eyes.“Hey, before you judge me. Sophia is crazy and we all know that. She's been onto you for like forever. I know I just joined the crew but I have heard quite enough from both Ella and everyone to know she's going to do anything to have you crumble.”“Don't you think I would know that?” I asked in an angry voice. “I am a software engineer and Dominic's chief of cyber security and hacking data is my specialty. I would be able to tell if something was altered from the spot!”“You're even scarier than Ella when she's cranky,” Max muttered, and he stepped back.He ran his hand through his hair and said. “And you two want to escape. How on earth are you going to make it out? In case you ladies haven't noticed. This is an estate and it's a fifteen minutes drive before you get to any roa

  • The Deadly Obsession   Chapter 88

Alessia's POV“Hell no. I refuse to believe that,” Ella said confused. She stood up and started pacing. “Dominic is the killer.”I nodded and cleaned my tears.“I…I don't understand. He killed your family and still got you pregnant and…” Ella lashed out. “That son of a…”“Stop,” I said. “I don't want to be reminded.”“Are you kidding me? He got you to fall in love with him. Put your life and the kids' life in danger and you're saying what…”“Ella,” I begged.“You literally have a reminder of it every day. The twins look just like him and he did this to you. I trusted him. You trusted him. And you loved him. What sort of a narcissistic, maniac is he?” Ella said. She looked pissed. Like a mama bear ready to fight an outsider who got too close to her cub.“Ella,” I called her name once more and stood up to get closer to her.“So?” She asked. “What are you going to do?”“I don't need all this. I need your help.”“Tell me and you have it.”“I want to leave. All of this. Everything behind.

  • The Deadly Obsession   Chapter 87

Alessia's POVThe sound of my voice was threatening, and he felt it.He blinked, looking confused, but released his grip. I moved my arm off his hands and left the kitchen.Walking past the group of people behind me with the most angry faces. I strolled up the stairs and into my room, closing the door behind me.I couldn't stay here any damn second. I just couldn't. Ten seconds later, the sound of knocking hit my door. I didn't answer. I already knew who it was. He could go to hell for all I cared.“Alessia?” He called in a low confused voice. “Open the door.”I picked up my stuff and started to make up a way to get out of here and kill him if possible.“Alessia, please let me in. I don't know what I did,” he said and kept knocking.I squeezed my eyes shut and let my entire body drift out of space. I didn't want to see him or hear him. When he didn't hear me for a while. He stopped and I heard him sigh then walk away.Good for the both of us.~I formed the plan in silence. I didn't k

  • The Deadly Obsession   Chapter 86

Alessia POVThere were moments that sliced through your life so cleanly and suddenly. This was one of those moments. My life nearly flashed between my eyes. I had successfully managed to leave the heavy security and return.I knew I was putting the guards into trouble by easily….okay, not easily leaving the house unnoticed. In their defense, I had also hacked the CCTV but still acted conscious just in case I made a mistake.I shut the door to my bedroom slowly. I exhaled in relief when I saw it was empty. Dominic had left. This was the heavens helping me. Now, all I had to do was to get to the bottom of whatever was in this damn SD card.My heart beat fast, and I pulled the small black card from my pocket. At that moment, it felt heavier than my entire body, and my fingers trembled.I quickly rushed to the table and picked up my laptop. Logging in was the simplest part, and I slid the SD card into the flash drive before connecting it to the laptop. An icon popped up on the screen, and
