Alessia's POV

The Next Day

Sleeping was hell. I didn't even have a wink of it. I didn't even realize I had stayed up that long until the morning light graced my room from the light curtains.

I got out of bed and walked to the window, stood there, arms crossed, jaw locked, watching the city move on with my mind asking different questions.

All I knew was that I was sick of being on the sidelines.

I turned from the window and zipped my suitcase shut with a harsh jerk. The sound sliced through the silence like a warning. I welcomed it. My hands trembled—not with fear, but fury. Clarity. The kind that comes after every illusion dies.

Inside my bag were a couple of clothes, cash, a burner phone, charger, IDs, whatnots and whatever was important like the last time I was running away from that son of the devil.

I breathed when I was done and dressed up. Nothing was out of place. I checked my phone's time. I had an extra forty minutes left.
