Blood In The Boardroom
Dominic's POV Rome: Italy I walked into the room filled with the sharp scent of cigars and whiskey. My bodyguards followed behind me. The door opened, leading me into the boardroom, and I walked to the large mahogany table, sitting at the head chair. My gray eyes scanned the faces staring back at me. This was supposed to be a routine meeting to finalize a deal with Carlos Marchetti and the other Mafia bosses. “Welcome, Dominic,” Carlos said, puffing his cigar. “Took you long enough.” “Tell me Carlos,” I answered. “Everyone signed the papers except you. Why?” “I figured there was no need if you weren't present,” Carlos replied. “I am here now. Sign the papers or walk out of here empty-handed,” I replied coldly. Carlos sneered and reached for a pen one of his men handed to him. “You drive a hard bargain, Rossi.” My smile grew darker, not reaching my eyes as my gaze lingered. “That's why I'm still alive.” I watched Carlos scrawl his signature on the paper and he smiled. He had just signed the control of a lucrative arms route into my hands. From the corner of my eyes, I noticed one of my men, Antonio, shifted uncomfortably at the edge of the room. I turned my gaze swiftly, catching his movement. “Antonio,” I called. “Are you okay?” Antonio froze, his hand halfway to his pocket as he blinked continuously. “Y…yes, boss. I'm just itchy. That's all.” “Hmm,” I mumbled. My jaw tightened. “Is that so?” I asked calmly. I could see Carlos and the other men suddenly become uncomfortable and that made me even more suspicious. “Y…yes, sir,” Antonio responded “Alright,” I said. “Step forward.” Antonio hesitated, but obeyed. When he came closer, stepping into the light, I noticed his hands twitch again and that was all the confirmation I needed. I smiled, pulling out my gun with lightning speed and fired at him. The shot rang out, sending Antonio falling to the floor lifeless as blood pooled from under him. Half of the other men seated gasped as I placed the gun on the table. “Check his pockets,” I ordered, signaling one of my men with my finger and Matteo stepped forward. He began checking Antonio's lifeless body, pulling out a small recorder from Antonio’s jacket and a loaded pistol from Antonio's waist. “He was wired, sir,” Matteo said, raising the device for everyone to see. I turned my gaze to Carlos with a stern cold look. “Isn't that odd that your deal comes with an added bonus, Carlos?” Carlos' face immediately turned pale. “I had a spy among my men. Do you mind explaining this?” I asked. “Don't pin this on me. I had no idea. You can't possibly blame me for…” Carlos answered. “Enough!” I yelled, slamming my hand on the table. “Save your lies.” “Do you think I'm stupid? A new man I hired turns out to be recording our meeting. If I remember correctly, you have been meeting with him in secret,” I spoke. Carlos' eyes showed weakness for a second then returned to being cold. “It was a simple greeting. I have no business with your men,” Carlos answered. “So it would seem,” I responded and one of my men brought a file. I took it and threw it towards Carlos on the table. “I knew Antonio worked for you. Do you really think I won't catch up to this?” I asked. Carlos looked at the picture and dropped them back on the table. “This doesn't mean anything. A couple of pictures doesn't prove anything.” I stood with my cold gaze bearing into Carlos as I walked slowly daring him to make one wrong move. “I don't believe in coincidences, Carlos,” I said, stepping around the table. “Bold of you to think you can walk in here, make a deal and double cross me in my territory,” I said pointing a gun at the back of Carlos head and his men immediately pulled out a gun, aiming at me with my men reciprocating. He laughed loudly, and raised his hand in mock surrender. “Don't be a fool, Rossi. Killing me will only start a war.” “Good,” I muttered. “Then let it start.” My fingers tightened on the trigger and was ready to shoot when Matteo's phone buzzed. He glanced at the phone's screen and looked at me with urgency. “Boss, we've got company.” “Three black SUVs pulled up outside,” Matteo continued. “Expecting friends, Carlos?” I asked, still pressing the gun on Carlos' head. Carlos shook his hand. “I swear, I don't know who they are.” The fear was genuine in his voice. I gestured to Matteo with a nod. “Secure the exits. No one leaves until I say so.” Matteo nodded and walked out with some men. I still had the upper hand in the room as my men outnumbered the others by double. Within a few minutes, gunshots rang out from downstairs. The other men exchanged glances at the table. “Rossi,” one of the older men at the table spoke. “Your men are handling the issue downstairs. We should handle this here. Let Carlos go. There's been enough bloodshed today.” “Alberto, I believe you know the rules,” I said calmly. “Yes, and I also know if you wanted to kill Carlos. You would have done that the second you took your gun out,” Alberto answered. “Carlos is just as important as the rest of us and killing him would unleash chaos. You can deal with him later if he does have a hand in this,” Alberto continued. I withdrew my gun and dropped it on the table, taking my seat. Just then Matteo walked in with six others with blood splattered on them staining their white shirts and faces. “We got them boss,” Matteo said. Two other men walked in draghing one of the bodies, dropping it to the floor. “The meeting is dismissed,” I ordered and the other men left including Carlos. “The men had the signature pin of the De Luca,” Matteo said, taking the pain off the body and bringing it to me. I looked at the pin, realizing he was right. But the De Luca’s were supposed to be allies. Why would they turn against me? Or did someone pretend to be them to cause trouble? “Contact our informants. I want to know if the De Luca’s are playing games with me,” I ordered Matteo. “Yes, boss,” Matteo responded. The Night That Shattered EverythingAlessia's POVI danced happily to the bear of the loud music in the club. It felt so good not to be stuck behind the iron gates of my father's estate. I had snuck out the chance I got and ran to meet Ella. I had no responsibilities or at least, I could pretend not to have.Ella took my hand and twirled me around. “See? I told you this would be fun!”I laughed, my long dark hair whipping around me. “My father would kill me if he ever found out I came here.”Ella waved me off, a mischievous grin on her face. “Relax. It’s not like he’ll find out. You deserve this, Alessia. You’ve been cooped up for too long.”Nodding, I allowed myself to get lost in the moment. The lights and the crowd and the freedom, it was intoxicating. But I was still plagued by the feeling that someone was monitoring me.Then I saw him. The tall handsome man at the bar looked right at me with piercing gray eyes. He had a sharp jawline, and a tailored suit that made him stand out i
Ghosts of the PastDominic POVI had never expected to feel attached to any woman before, especially after a night, but Alessia was different. She was just some woman and yet I couldn't get her out of my mind.I left her a note. She was bold following a stranger to his home. When I returned to the room, Alessia was gone. Madame Calista gave me the side eye when she came to change the sheet.I retreated to my private office room and Madame Calista returned to me a few minutes ago later, staring at me until I felt uncomfortable. She was the only one that could ever do that to me. She was like a mother figure in my life.“Is it not time you settle down, Dominic?” She asked.I looked up from my laptop and stopped typing. “Not yet,” I answered.“Hmm, how long are you going to keep playing? You're closer to the grave everyday especially with your line of work,” she continued.I sighed and took off my glasses. “Why are you so interested in me settling down?” I asked. She always had something
A New LifeAlessia's POVI packed the little I could, dragging my luggage behind me. I was leaving everything behind. I booked a flight to the United States, far away from the chaos in my life.In the U.S., I built a new life. During my first month serving as a waitress to raise some extra cash and keep a low profile.I fainted while delivering a cup of coffee to a customer. Nothing could have prepared me, when the nurse told me I was pregnant.Seven months after arriving, I have both my twins, a boy and a girl, Lorenzo and Elena. They were my light in the dark, the reason I kept going when it seemed impossible. I worked hard to provide for them, juggling my studies and motherhood as best I could. After a year, I graduated first in my class, and my cybersecurity skills were soon recognized, making me one of the most sought-after analysts in the field.Companies vied for my services, and I felt like I finally had a handle on life. Lorenzo and Elena grew up to be intelligent, inquisitiv
Collision CourseDominic’s POVI was reviewing the quarterly reports in my office when Matteo knocked and walked in, holding a stack of files. “Boss, the new head of security is here.”I nodded absentmindedly. It was just another meeting, another name to add to the roster of professionals we’d brought in to tighten our operations. But when I entered the conference room, my heart raced as my eyes caught her bright green eyes.Alessia.She sat still, gripping the folder tightly. Her body stifled as if she was preparing for war.The past came rushing back like a tidal wave. That night. Her lips moaning my name as we moved together on the sheets. I tried to school my expression, but I couldn’t stop staring. She was different now. She looked more mature and curvier. Her lips parted slightly, and she whispered my name revealing her shock. “Dominic.”“Hello, Alessia,” I answered coldly.I kept looking into her eyes until Matteo's voice broke through the tension, reminding me we weren't alo
Alessia’s POVI woke up to the sound of the alarm. “Ugh,” I groaned. “So much for getting paid.”If I was in the Olympics, I would be the fastest person to ever get ready. When I got to the dining room, the twins already had breakfast. Ella was a sweetheart and dished my plate. I sat down, eating my plate of waffles.I was almost done with my food when I glanced at my watch. “Oh lord,” I muttered and ate the last waffle.Kissing the kids goodbye, I ran out of the house and made a mental note to register them in a new school before next week. The moment I arrived at the company, I felt instant regret. I hated that the universe was so unkind to send Dominic back to me and, worse, as my boss. Why in God's name did he have to be that?I walked to my office, happy I didn't meet him, and my jaw nearly dropped when I looked at the transparent door, and there he was, sitting in his office reading a script.Whose bright idea was it to make the doors transparent? My throat itched as I stared at
Alessia’s POV“Alessia, you're trembling,” he said, reaching for me.I slapped his hand away, panting with anger.“Alessia,” he called, but I was super angry. He came closer, his hand reaching for my forehead and I slapped it with my bag.“Don't touch me! I hate you!” I spat. He didn't seem angry and came closer.I fought, hitting him but he pinned me easily on the elevator’s wall. “Hate me? Why don't I feel it?”I glared at him, but my eyes softened. He was awfully close, his face barely an inch apart from mine. His thumb brushed over my lower lip, and I sucked in a sharp breath. My anger crumbled like it hadn't been there. He leaned in, his eyes darting from my eyes to my lips. I shouldn't want this, but I did. My lips parted slightly welcoming him.His lips slightly brushed mine, and my body shivered. How did I let him have this effect on me?I closed my eyes waiting, but nothing came. His hands dropped from my waist and I opened my eyes.He smirked and looked away facing the eleva
Dominic’s POVI couldn't stop thinking about Alessia. She was like a drug. Every time I saw her at the office, I had to fight harder to focus on my work. I knew she was my enemy's daughter, but she didn't know that.I should have hated her, but I didn't. I got out of the conference room, having not paid attention to a single word. The ideas were boring and I gave the coordinators a warning.“I want something better by next Monday or you're all fired. You're dismissed.”Everyone scrambled away, and I walked back to my office. I noticed Alessia walk into her office. She looked daring today. Her long legs in those tiny high heels were captivating. She didn't notice me, and I opened my office door. I walked in, noticing a faint smell which was different from mine.I logged into my computer, and it loaded quicker than usual. Something was wrong. My hand brushed the desktop. It was warm. It shouldn't be. I looked around and my gaze rested on Alessia. She looked up and I smiled, forgetting w
Alessia’s POV“Let me out!” I screamed, banging my cuffed hands on the wall.“You psycho, let me out!” I yelled.I fell to the floor, tried and panting. How could I be so stupid? I had forgotten about the CCTV.My kids, they would be missing me. How could I mess up in just a week of work?My throat felt dry from all the shouting and I coughed. The door started to slided open and I crawled up, struggling to my feet. I would make a run for it the chance I got.Once the door opened, I ran but he caught me, carrying me on his shoulder and throwing me back to the bed.“Get off me!” I screamed. “You sick twisted psycho!”“I doubt that,” he said, holding me in place. “Turns out you're not only keeping one secret from me.”I looked at him surprised. Had he gone mad?“What do you...” I started, but he cut me off.“Who is the twins' father?” He asked, sending shivers down my spine. How did he know? I hid it perfectly. I never kept it in my resume. Oh shit! He's got access.“Twins? What twins?”
Sophia's POVI felt him before I saw him. I raised my head to see him in the mirror. The hair on my skin tingled and danced as I felt my pulse ticked faster.“Hi, baby,” I greeted, secretly praying he didn't pull the trigger.“Baby?” He asked, raising an eyebrow.“I…” I started.“Shut it,” he cut me off before I could produce the best lie I had just created.“Where are they?” He asked.“Where is who?” I asked, faking ignorance.“Answer me one more time with a stupid question, and I'll make this quicker,” he replied.I knew he wasn't bluffing. He cocked the gun and moved his finger to the trigger.“Wait…for real. I don't understand what you're saying. I said, “Just relax and talk to me, please.” I could win the Best Actress award at the Oscars with my act. There was no way in hell I would lose this easily and let him find them. Not when I knew I still had leverage against him.Wasn't he supposed to be in Carlos's care? The idiot could never do anything, right? So much for teamwork. W

Dominic’s POVI lay there on the concrete floor, staring blankly at the damaged ceiling with blood pooling at the corner of my mouth. The metal cuffs cutting into my skin caused my right wrist to throb, and my left eye was slightly inflamed and itching. My body lost heat to the chilly floor, yet I accepted the discomfort. It was fuel and proof I was still alive.I had only one motivation to get out of here, and that was my family. They’d tossed me in here like a corpse—no light, no air, just piss-stained walls and silence thick enough to choke on. I had counted the hours by the rat scratching behind the stone near the far corner. Five hundred and sixteen scratches. That’s how long it had been since I last saw the sun.I had been here for two days. I knew my kids and Alessia were in danger, and I owed it to them to get them out since I had put them in a mess.Footsteps echoed from the hallway.I didn’t move. The heavy door creaked open. Light spilled in, and I fought the instinct to
Diego’s POVI slammed the door behind us the second we returned to the estate, my boots echoing on the polished marble floor. Matteo had already poured himself a glass of wine like we hadn’t just walked out of a warzone disguised as a council meeting.“That voice…” I cornered him in the bar and grabbed a seat. The air conditioner did little to ease the heat on my face, but it wasn't as hot as the suspicion burning in my gut. I took the remote from the bar table and pressed a button. The air increased. “That voice back there—was that really him?”Matteo didn't blink. With a smug air, he sipped his wine, swirled it, and cocked his head in a smile. “Take a wild guess.”My mouth went dry. I stared at him, the puzzle pieces finally snapping into place like a gut punch. “Holy hell. You used AI.”He chuckled, low and unapologetically, like I’d just praised him for art theft. “About damn time you caught on.”“Good lord, did you see the shock on their faces?” I asked, and he nodded, then sippe
Matteo’s POVI stepped into the cellar room and felt every eye burn into my skin.I was invited to the Mafia meeting. It wasn’t unusual for me to arrive alone without Dominic. Actually, he sent me twice to attend the meetings for him when he was busy.Only this time, he had been captured and he was in the custody of one of the members in the room.Don Pedro sat at the head, his back rigid like iron, resting on the chair. His cold eye followed me.Carlos sat at his side, with his arms folded, and lips curled in contempt. I moved forward with steady steps, without a care.Ferdinand sat opposite Pedro and smoked his cigar. He raised a hand as I reached the table. His gentle authority followed and everyone kept calm.Don Pedro wasn’t cooperative. “Where’s your boss?” He asked.I smiled and said calmly. “Mr. Dominic traveled to handle some business issues.”Carlos injected his two cents. “Is that so? We weren't informed.”I watched his smile turn into a smirk and answered. “It was imprompt
Alessia's POVAs two men pulled me across the floor, my scream ripped from me like a ferocious beast. They didn't flinch when my legs kicked out and thrashed against their holds. When my heel struck his shin, one of them grunted, but he continued.“Quit it,” Sophia said. The other muttered something in Spanish, like a curse word. I didn't care and wanted to be free from them.I knew Ella and the others would be back with help, but I doubted that Sophia would be so foolish to remain in this place. My wrists burned as the rope held me tight. My throat felt dry from screaming, but I didn't stop. Someone had to hear me.“If your plan is for someone to hear you, then be rest assured no one can. We're in the middle of the forest, and no one ever travels around here,” Sophia said proudly.“You crazy, stupid bitch!” I screeched.“Let me go! Let me go!” I said, fighting the men and scratching them as hard as I could. They ignored me and dragged me inside. My nails scraped the walls as they sho
Ella's POVI woke up choking to the taste of blood in my mouth. My wrists and head ached. I was on the floor of some locked up room.My wrists were chained, and also my ankles.I forced myself to sit up and looked around me.Alessia, the maid and Max were tied up too. “Max?” I called softly. Then I turned to Alessia and whispered again. “Alessia.”They were still unconscious and I started to crawl towards them, but the chains pulled me back. They looked pale. It scared me and I felt they were almost dead. I started to swear as I watched their pale faces and lips."No," I rasped. "No, no, no."I tried crawling to them again, and the chains jerked around my wrists. A soft hiss left my lips as the pain touched me.I had no idea who that woman that had captured us was, but I knew she was trouble.Alessia had better tell me everything when she got up. I had been so worried about my best friend that I hired Max the second I found out he was also a private investigator.I was trembling with

Lorenzo’s POVThe whole backseat shook as the car door slammed. I was scared, but had to act strong for Elena. Dad wouldn't be proud if he knew I acted more scared. He always said I was the man and I was going to act it. Elena whimpered beside me, her fingers tightened around the neck of her stuffed bunny on the end of her bag’s zip.I didn't cry and reached for her. She hugged me and sobbed. My fear was soon replaced with anger and I glared at the driver driving us into the thick trees. I hadn't seen a single person in sight from the back and I was waiting to scream if I saw one.I tried my best to memorize every twist and counted them like Dad had taught me some days ago after playing hide and seek.“Where are you taking us?” I asked, while I continued glaring at him.“Be quiet,” Flynn answered.“I said be quiet,” he said again, in a harsh voice.“You don't scare me Flynn,” I said.He stepped on the brakes and slowly turned to face me. Elena held me tightly.“How do you know my name
