Chapter 2

작가: Scallion Muse
The balcony door suddenly swung open.

A gust of cold wind rushed in, rain and leaves slapping against Emmett’s face, making him shiver. He looked at me standing there with a bloodstained blade, half my face smeared red.

His legs gave out, and he dropped to his knees.

"Honey… India… there’s no one else in this house besides us. I would never hurt you! Did you have a nightmare? We’ve been together for ten years, married for five. Don’t you trust me?"

I said nothing.

He broke down, pointing shakily at our wedding photo on the wall. "Honey, don’t you remember? The year we met, I fell in love with you at first sight…"

I glanced at my phone.

11:30 p.m.

Impatience cut through me. I interrupted him coldly, "I just killed something. That means prison. I’m planning to kill myself before the police arrive. Since you love me so much, take the blame for me."

He froze and even forgot how to cry.

Then, as if he had made up his mind, he stepped forward and took the knife from my hand.

"Move aside. I’ll wipe off your fingerprints. You don’t know anything. Everything that happened tonight… it was me. You were just scared and hiding."

He muttered as he worked, tears glistening in his eyes, "I already had a lawyer transfer the house and the car fully to your name. After this, just live well."

He carefully wiped away every trace—footprints, fingerprints—everything. He even mimicked my movements, rehearsing how he would have wielded the knife.

I stood there the entire time, silent.

Finally, he straightened up, his face resolute. "Alright. Call the police."

I pulled out my phone and dialed. The waiting tone stretched unbearably long.

Still, from beginning to end, Emmett didn’t try to stop me. He didn’t change his mind.

The call finally connected.

"Hello, Sunshine District Police—"

I studied his expression for a moment. Then I spoke slowly, "My husband killed—"

I paused.

He sat on the bed, staring blankly at the blood, lost in thought.

Silence stretched.

The voice on the other end grew urgent. "Hello? Are you alright? Are you being threatened?"

I changed my words. "My husband killed a bird. Is that illegal?"

After I hung up, he stared at me in shock, unable to understand why I had backed out.

I smiled faintly. "I was lying. There was a bird behind the curtain. Look. Feathers everywhere."

He hurried over to check. Sure enough, there was a small pile of brown feathers.

He let out a breath and looked at me with mild annoyance. "Then why scare me like that? You nearly gave me a heart attack."

I didn’t respond. Instead, I turned away, a flicker of confusion crossing my face.

If it wasn’t Emmett…

Then how had I died?

All four previous times, no one had been near me except him.

Even the fourth time, when I forced him out, he could have come back with a key. However, after everything I had just seen, that didn’t seem possible.

I crossed my arms, scanning the room.

A strange thought surfaced.

Could there be a ghost in this house?

No.

If there were a ghost, I wouldn’t be resurrecting.

Then what was it?

A hidden illness? Was I dying in my sleep?

If I found the cause of death, would the loop finally end?

My eyes lit up.

I grabbed Emmett, who was still catching his breath.

"Honey, I’m going to the hospital."

My mother-in-law looked a little embarrassed and nudged Emmett."Alright, since you’ve said that, I’ll explain things to the officers."Knock. Knock. The sudden sound made everyone jump. She immediately pushed Emmett back. "Emmett, go settle your wife. I’ll handle the police."When the door opened, two officers stood there, faces serious."Hello. Who made the report?"She quickly stepped forward, offering them cigarettes with a flattering smile. "Officers, I’m so sorry to trouble you this late. It was just a family matter. It’s already been resolved."The younger officer frowned slightly. "You reported seeing a dangerous animal. Are you filing a false report?"Her expression stiffened, and she tried to smooth things over, but I stepped forward first, extending my wrists."I’m the werewolf. Please arrest me."The two officers looked me up and down, doubt obvious in their eyes. "Werewolf? Do you have some kind of mental condition?"I nodded. "Possibly."Then I turned to Emme

With her ear pressed against the door, my mother-in-law frowned in confusion. "What are they even saying in there? I can’t hear a thing."My father-in-law shook his head as well, his expression grave. "Hurry up and call the police again. Tell them to come faster. If something happens to our son, that won’t be good."A flash of malice flickered in her eyes. "Fine. I’ll call right now."Click.The door opened. She froze mid-motion with her phone, then awkwardly stepped back with a forced smile. "That was quick… Finished talking already?"Emmett nodded expressionlessly, then walked over and sat on the couch, staring blankly ahead.I stayed in the bedroom with my parents, not coming out.The strange atmosphere made her restless. She couldn’t hold back and stepped forward to pry."Son, what did that monster say to you? You look like you’ve lost your soul. You’re the only heir of this family. You can’t let anything happen to you!"Emmett’s tone shifted completely from his usual obe

"What? Mom! How could you do this?!" Emmett looked utterly devastated, as if he couldn’t understand her betrayal. "India is family! How can you treat her like this?! Call the police back. Cancel it!"His eyes were bloodshot, like a wild animal, as he lunged for her phone. However, she stiffened her neck and stuffed the phone into her chest. "Family? We’re human. She’s a monster! What kind of family is that?!"I spit on you! You witch, just go to hell already! Stop dragging my son down with you!"Emmett was helpless. He spun in place, panic written all over him. Then he looked at me, eyes pleading, almost childlike. "What do we do, honey? I don’t want to lose you…"I stayed silent for a moment. Then I stepped forward, helping my pale, shaken parents to their feet, guiding them into the bedroom. After that, I walked over to Emmett. Without looking at him, I lowered my head and took his hand, leading him inside.Seeing how calm I was, my mother-in-law’s face turned pale. She rememb

I wiped away my tears and picked up the phone from the ground, my hands trembling. The woman’s face reflected clearly on the screen.Every feature was identical to mine, even the small tear-shaped mole at the corner of her eye.The only difference was her gaze.Cold. Violent. The whites of her eyes nearly swallowed her pupils whole. Anyone who saw that would think "monster".My legs gave out, and I collapsed onto the floor. My heart sank to the very bottom. The urge I had felt earlier—to lick the bird’s blood. The violent, killing impulse. Fresh blood should have been revolting. I should’ve gagged.Yet I thought it was sweet. I even wanted more.I had never even killed a chicken in my life. I’d grown up in comfort, happy and safe. How could I suddenly become like this? It was as if I had turned into someone else entirely.Did I die in my sleep because I turned into a werewolf and got hunted? My grip tightened around the metal edge of the phone, its sharp corner cutting into

The video was dim all around, the camera shaking cautiously as it focused on a woman in the center. She was crouched in front of the refrigerator. A faint white light illuminated only a small patch of space. With her back to the camera, long black hair cascading down her back, she held something in both hands, devouring it in large, savage bites. As the person filming slowly moved closer, my eyes widened. The blood in my body seemed to freeze, cold sinking all the way into my bones. The woman had the same long hair as I, and she was wearing the same white silk nightgown.I swallowed hard, my voice trembling. "Turn up the volume. All the way."Emmett glanced at me with concern, but he did it anyway. As the volume rose, the freezer drawer slid open in the video. What the woman was chewing, half-hidden by her hair, came fully into view.Crunch. Crunch. The sound of chewing scraped against my nerves. My pupils shrank. Every hair on my body stood on end.It was a chunk of raw froz

  • The Death Loop   Chapter 4

Emmett immediately spread his arms and blocked the doorway, fear etched across his face. "You can’t go."Before I could respond, his parents rushed forward and tried to pull him aside."Let her go! Let’s see if they can even find anything!""No!" he snapped. "If you don’t help me stop India, I’ll kill myself right now! I can’t lose her!"He quickly unlocked his phone and showed them something.Just one glance, and their faces turned pale. The way they looked at me changed. There was fear in their eyes. Then they noticed the blood covering the floor. Their bodies trembled, their voices lowering instinctively."Son, if you like her, that’s your business. But your father and I, we’re old. How are we supposed to stop her?"Emmett didn’t move. His gaze stayed locked on me, refusing to let me pass. "My in-laws will be here soon. Just help me hold her here. She absolutely cannot go to the hospital! I—I won’t do it! I still want to live a few more years!"Then Emmett said something th
