Ten minutes later, the four of us, I had grabbed Kira on the way, sat in my room. Mike and Kel were looking a little more than awkward. I assumed they thought we were going to have a “talk” about what happened Friday night.

“Here,” I said and tossed the old leather book to Kellen who was propped on the end of my bed, “Turn to page 123. And read it out loud so everyone can hear.”

He flipped the pages until he came to the right one and then began to read aloud the same passage I had read. There was an eerie silence in the room when he had finished until Mike broke it.
