Ryan heard the tumbling sound from outside his room and his eyes immediately flew open in fear. He wanted to call out to whoever it was that had made the sound but a strange voice stopped him. He moved closer to his bedroom door and leaned toward the wooden frame to listen in on what could have caused the sound.
"Move out of my way Amelia," a deep voice growled and Ryan immediately recognised the name as his mother's name.
"Stay away from my son you bastard," his mother's familiar voice hissed desperately at whoever it was that spoke and Ryan could immediately sense that something was wrong and that he could be in danger.
"Your son is a curse Amelia, he should have been killed the very day he was born. Stop protecting him and move out of my way," the voice snapped back harshly and Ryan could not believe his ears nor could he fathom what could possibly be going on.
'Curse?' he asked himself.
His ears pressed further into the wooden frame.
"I'm begging you with everything you hold dear to you Eric, don't do this to me. For the sake of our long friendship, don't hurt my son. He's just a child. There's no way he could possibly hurt anyone," Amelia pleaded desperately.
"If you really cared about our friendship, you would've dealt with him yourself. You know how dangerous he's going to turn out to be and yet Amelia, you choose to protect him instead of protecting the people; your people! That thing you call a child will become a man someday and he's going to be the end of all of us so it's better you let him be killed now so you can forget about him," Eric replied and Ryan is quick to place his hand over his mouth to avoid gasping too loudly.
As confused as he was, he knew better than to confront the situation helplessly and he could only hope things don't get much worse than it seemed.
"Over my dead body will you take my child Eric. You'd have to slay me first!" Amelia yelled furiously, ready to defend and protect her child till her last breath.
"For the last time Amelia, move out of the way!" Eric's voice growled in a much scarier tone that made Ryan's heart almost skip a beat.
"It may seem as though you're forgetting your place Eric. I am Amelia, Alpha of the Graymoon pack and I'm ordering you to get out of this room if you don't wish to see the other side of me," Amelia snapped and Eric scoffed.
"And it seems you've also forgotten that ever since you gave birth to your cursed child, you've become nothing but a measly human. Aren't you even ashamed, Amelia? Calling yourself an Alpha when you can't even save the pack by doing away with that thing you call a son? You are willing to give up the entire pack just to save a boy destined to cause chaos and yet, you have the audacity to call yourself an Alpha? Listen to me Amelia, only with his death will peace be restored in the pack and I will not hesitate to do my duty even if you don't approve of it Alpha Amelia," he replied, laying emphasis on his last words.
'Death?' Ryan wondered as fear seized him. He ran underneath his bed cover, closing his eyes and hoping everything he had just heard was all a terrible nightmare.
"1,2,3,4...," he muttered under his breath just as his mother had taught him, hoping he'd soon wake up from this horrible nightmare.
Amelia stood outside with her arms wide open to stop Eric from barging into her son's room.
Could her child really be dying today? Was there really no other way to protect him from his unfortunate reality? Had she already failed as a mother? She wondered to herself, trying to think of anything she could do to protect her son from getting dragged out. She knew the second Eric laid a finger on her child, he would be as good as dead and she could not bear the thought of watching her innocent child get killed.
"I won't let you kill my child Eric," she screamed her eyes wandering round the hallway for anything she could use to stop him.
Bingo, the wooden bat!
"If you insist on harming my child Eric, then one of us would have to die cause I will never allow it," Amelia defended, refusing to give up and the second she noticed the deadly look in Eric's eyes, she knew those eyes no longer belonged to her long time friend. She immediately reaches out for the bat and she gives it a swing in the direction of his head, he stumbles but doesn't fall to the ground like she had wanted.
'One last swing,' she thought.
She tries to swing it once more but is stopped mid air when Eric blocks her shot with his hand. She immediately drops the weapon and swings for his groin with her foot but sadly misses and is able to do less damage than she had intended.
She heads towards her son's room but is pulled back by a hand pulling on her hair. She turns and delivers a kick to his abdomen which had little to no effect on him but he eventually lets go of her hair and she runs towards his room and is about to swing the door open when he charges at her and a loud thud is heard outside the room and soon after, a grave silence follows.
"I hope you can one day forgive me for this Amelia," Eric muttered to himself as he watched his dear friend struggle till her last breath.
Ryan could hear the tumbling sound again and this time, he knew the body belonged to his mother. He crawled helplessly behind the door and immediately hugged himself and pressed his mouth against his knees to avoid crying out loudly.
Fear gripped him even more when he heard his mother whimper whilst struggling to hold back the man whose only aim was to kill him. He could not see what was happening outside the door but from the way things sounded, it was nothing good.
The door flew open all of a sudden, revealing a tall male figure who stared down at Ryan with pure hatred in his eyes.
Ryan looked outside to spot his mother only for him to see her covered in her own pool of blood with her eyes barely closed. He could tell she had cried until her last breath and seeing her lifeless body desperately reaching out to him made him furious to his bones and the only thing he could think of at that moment was revenge.
"Come with me quietly," Eric instructed Ryan coldly but Ryan doesn't move an inch. Instead, he stares back at Eric with furious eyes and when Eric attempts to pull him up forcefully, Ryan fights back and escapes from his strong grip.
"I said come with me!" Eric yelled in a dark, outraged tone but is surprised when Ryan doesn't even flinch. He knew the boy would be quite daring but he didn't expect him to seem this fearless.
"What did you do to my mother?" Ryan asked, clenching his fists to contain his anger and at the same time gritting his teeth.
"Don't ask any questions and follow me child, if you don't want to end up like her," Eric threatened, attempting to pick up Ryan once again but this time, Ryan not only easily escaped from his grip, he also pushed him back as hard as he could and to Eric's surprise, he almost lost his balance.
"Leave me alone," Ryan growled furiously as he slowly started to lose his mind to rage.
Eric noticed the sudden glow in the little boy's eyes and he let out a loud gasp as he realised what it meant. He was warned by the moon spirit to make sure the child is not provoked into extreme anger if he didn't want to awaken the evil spirit that resided in him.
Ryan slowly realised that his eyes were starting to burn and so was every part of his body. He could no longer control his fury and the only thing he could think of doing was tearing out the heart of the man that stood in front of him.
"You demonic child!" Eric spat out furiously, slowly taking a few steps backwards to retreat.
As soon as the words hit Ryan, he could no longer control himself as he charged towards him and the next thing he felt were his claws that came out from nowhere, piercing deep into the heart of the man in front of him and pulling out his heart brutally.
Eric knew his end had come as soon as he noticed the child's hands turn into long claws. He watched as the child charged towards him, sticking his claws into his chest area and as Eric slowly bled to death, he could feel his heart getting pulled out of his body before he eventually lost consciousness.
Ryan's eyes grew ten times wider when he see his hands covered with the blood of the man who had murdered his mother. He could not believe what he had done to him and seeing his heart in his hands made Ryan want to throw up all the food he had ever eaten.
He looked back at his mother's lifeless body and cries out for her to help me out of his confused state and when no one comes to his aid, he sits quietly in the pool of blood of the man he had murdered, placing his forehead between his knees and crying his eyes out till he eventually fell asleep.
Twenty years later... "I can't believe you still haven't heard about him, Amelia. I mean, literally everyone in the pack knows the story of our crazy Alpha," Isabel reprimanded her best friend, Amelia, who always seemed oblivious of everything happening around her. "It's not like I haven't heard about him, it's just that I never cared to know more about him and besides, you know how much I hate gossiping and believing in crazy rumours," Amelia defended herself quickly, not liking the fact that her friend just indirectly called her nonchalant. "You know the saying, behind every rumour, there is always an iota of truth? Well, I believe in these particular rumours. Everyone can't be lying and making up similar and well detailed stories you know," Isabel fired back and Amelia rolled her eyes. "Okay fine, you have a point but isn't it just weird that our Alpha is always called a crazy man? Doesn't it make you feel some type of way? For me, it's almost like I'm being disrespectful towa
"What do you mean they're intruders? I thought we got rid of everyone? Haven't they all learnt to stay away?" Ryan hissed angrily as he wondered why any wolf in their right mind would cross his territory even after the scary stories surrounding him. "I guess they all think the stories are just exaggerated rumours. Also, we have reasons to believe that they plan on attacking unsuspecting people but I already told the men to prepare and we'll go get them later tonight," Adrian, Ryan's beta and closest friend informed him. "There's no need for that Adrian, I'll do it myself," Ryan replied and Adrian frowned. "You can't do that Ryan. They're on the outskirts of town and going there all by yourself is very dangerous," Adrian argued and Ryan let out a frustrated sigh. "They're here because they don't believe the rumours. So I'll go ahead and let them see for themselves that the rumours are true so they can go ahead and warn the others not to trespass. Also, I need an excuse to get out of
"Is he dead?" Isabel asked shakily with her eyes fixated on the unknown man's seemingly lifeless body. "Not yet but he'll soon be if I don't do something. He has lost way too much blood and his wound doesn't seem to be healing like it should," Amelia replied, trying her best to stop the bleeding from his stomach. "W...what should I do? How can I help?" Isabel asked. "First, we need to cover him up a bit more so the cold doesn't worsen his condition. Pass me the sack in the bag, that should be more than enough to keep him warm," Amelia instructed and Isabel quickly does as told. "But Amelia, what if he's a rogue or something? Wouldn't we be wrong for helping him out?" Isabel wondered, earning an annoyed glare from an unimpressed Amelia. "The only thing we should think about now is saving his life, Isabel. Whatever he is, we'll go over that when we're sure he's not gonna die on us. Now, stop fidgeting and wait here with him while I go find anything we could use to help him," Ame
Ryan's eyes fluttered open slowly as the sunlight hit his face from the small window behind him. He quickly tried to push himself up to examine where he was but was stopped midway when a sharp pain from his stomach area hit him. He looked down at his injury and the first thing he noticed was the weird looking ointment that seemed to have dried into his wound. He tried recalling who it was that could have helped him out and that was when everything hit him. He had finally met his mate. A feeling of pure embarrassment hits him as he realised that not only did he look horrible, he was also completely naked with only a sack covering the lower part of his body. He looked around him, trying to make sense of where he was but he couldn't come up with anything. He tried pushing himself up one more time so he could take a proper look around and maybe find whoever it was that had helped him out in the first place. "No, no, no, no, you shouldn't be getting up yet," an unfamiliar voice ye
"Sir, we've looked everywhere and there's still no trace of the Alpha," Ivan, one of Adrian's most trusted men, reported and Adrian let out a frustrated sigh. "He has to be here somewhere Ivan. He couldn't have just disappeared off the face of the earth. Search for anything and everything that could lead us to him and report back to me immediately you find anything. Is that understood?" Adrian instructed and Ivan nodded positively with a small bow before moving towards the rest of the men and relaying Beta's instruction. Adrian's eyes scanned around the forest as he wondered where in the world Ryan could be. He already tried reaching him through mindlink but seeing how he couldn't get across to his friend, he already guessed that his friend could be seriously injured or maybe too weak. "I've found something!" A voice yelled from behind Adrian and he quickly ran towards the direction of the voice. "This is blood," Adrian muttered as he saw the bloodstained cloth. He gently colle
"Amelia, you still haven't told me what happened between you and you know who yesterday. Did you two fight? Did he say he wasn't interested in you? What went wrong?" Isabel asked curiously for the umpteenth time, wondering why Amelia had refused to talk about him since they got back home. "I already told you nothing happened Isabel. Stop bringing it up already," Amelia warned tiredly and Isabel frowned. "How can you tell me nothing happened when you haven't stopped getting lost in your thoughts since we left? Stop lying to me already!" Isabel snapped impatiently and Amelia simply rolled her eyes. "Stop being a drama queen Isabel and let go of it," Amelia advised and Isabel internally fumed. "I can't believe it, Amelia. You really won't talk to me? So you're just gonna ignore your own best friend? Is this really how we're gonna do things now? We're now keeping secrets from each other? Okay then missy, suit yourself but you better not come crying to me when it starts to weigh you
Amelia stood in the darkness, carefully looking around in confusion. She couldn't help but wonder how she got here but instead of screaming first, she preferred to look around to be sure her life wasn't in danger. "Hello? Is anyone here?" she muttered in a shaky tone as the realisation of her situation finally dawned on her. 'Why was she here? How did she get here and most importantly, what is this place?' she wondered to herself, trying as best as she could not to panic. She knew panicking would do nothing but put her in even more danger. "Can anyone hear me? Is someone here?" Amelia asked, this time raising her voice slightly just in case someone would hear her. When she realised that she was by herself, her mind started to panic and she took in deep breaths to keep herself from freaking out in fear. "You can do something Amelia, you can get out of here. This place isn't gonna mess up your mind," Amelia muttered to herself but as soon as she felt a strong wind hit her face an
Isabel and Amelia let out deep sighs simultaneously as they both stared into the sky to observe the stars. Isabel momentarily turns to look at her friend and she couldn't help but notice the dark circles under Amelia's eyes. "You're stressed, huh?" Isabel pointed out and Amelia smiled sadly. "I'm just so confused Isa. The last thing I wanted was to have to deal with something like this at this stage in my life and I thought I could just avoid it and move on but it's not stopping Isabel. I see him everywhere, in my dreams, when I wake up, when I'm about to go to bed, when I'm working, everywhere! He's the only thing on my mind at the moment," Amelia expressed in frustration, hating the fact that she just couldn't change her thoughts no matter how hard she tried. It was exactly how it was during her first dream. She couldn't stop thinking about him. Everything she did suddenly reminded her of him and the only thing she could think of relating to him were the sad expressions he alway
