As the sun rose, I was sitting by Madison’s tree. I picked a few cherries and was telling her about everything that happened the day before. Without Reggie there to distract me, I was able to spend a lot more time tending the field and tree.
I started having trouble sleeping three days after she left. I made the effort to eat, but meal times weren’t as much fun without Reggie there to make me laugh or challenge me to eating competitions. I was fairly certain Madison sent Reggie to help me get my strength back. Part of me knew I had to be stronger than I was.
Conric missed Reggie, too. He said no one could scratch like she could. Aria tried, but she scratched too fast and unevenly. We knew there wouldn’t be much time left with Reggie when she ret
[Reggie]I opened my eyes and smiled. I’d gotten a lot of my memories back. I remembered friends from childhood, my parents, my sisters, my first boyfriend, and the first time I met my mates. It wasn’t completely clear. I couldn’t remember names, and faces escaped me, but the facts and feelings were all there. It was more than I had before and I was going to cherish every bit of it. I was so close.“Good morning, pheata. Are you hungry?” Rhys asked.“I could eat, but my mother always told me you shouldn’t do heavy physical activities after a meal. So… I think we should definitely have sex again before we go.” I purred.
[Reggie]I looked at the number. I didn’t want to call the royals. Mostly, I wanted to take a nap. I had no idea why I was so tired, but it was like something in me was changing. Probably the spell working, or my body preparing for impregnating Rhys. After dawdling for a while, straightening up the shelves, cleaning the fluted edges of the desk, playing with the desk toys, and carefully examining every title of every book on the shelves, I finally couldn’t think of another thing to do instead of calling them. Such bullshit.I groaned. This would be annoying, but I was in their territory and a lot of people had seen me heading to the fae king’s home. I picked up the handset and dialed the number on the paper.
Rhys laid back and Reggie leaned down, kissing him softly, her tongue teasing along his bottom lip until he opened his mouth to her. Reggie’s hand slid down over his chest to fondle and tease at his nipple while her tail pulled the blanket further and slipped between his legs, exploring the newly formed territory. He arched as the tip of her silky tail found the nub it was looking for. Reggie pulled back from the kiss. She slid her hand down to where her tail marked his sensitive spot.“Rhys, are you trembling because you’re excited or because you’re scared, darling?” Reggie whispered.“A little of both.” He replied softly.“This will be unlike anything you’ve e
[Reggie]I knew I was dreaming. Unlike other dreams, this one held an air of falsehood. I was in a clearing that was familiar, but unfamiliar. It was warm with the late afternoon sun.Flashes of memory showed this place with people roaming, playing, and napping in the sun. Other flashes showed it dark and rain drenched. I shook my head.A woman sat on a wide, flat rock. She tossed a stick for a red and white dog. No. That was a wolf. I saw it was Reika and grinned. This must be the goddess who’d been guiding me. A sudden spark of recognition hit me. The woman from the painting. It was the Morrigan. The woman smiled at me. She had warm, honey brown eyes a
[Reggie]The vessel was in a small clearing in the forests of the in-between. It was laid out on a stone alter. A corpse which had been slowly coming back from a state of decay, with the help of my blood, over the last couple weeks. It was entirely ready, its wounds healed and flesh unmarred.I felt the spell crawl up my throat. It was a creepy feeling, which I sincerely hoped never to feel again. Putting my hand up to my mouth, the spell popped out. The inside of the spell swirled a vortex of dark red.“Hello. We’ve come to restore what you lost.” I murmured to the corpse. “In a little while, we’ll bring the anchors.”
[Reggie/Madison/Rei]I woke up around noon and looked at Conric sleeping beside me. Wrapping my arms around him, I took a deep breath. Inhaling the scent of my mate. Soon, we could really be together. It was everything I’d wanted this whole year.‘Our mate is gorgeous. I can’t wait to come back for him.’ Rei said.‘Neither can I. We need to get out to the in-between. You up for a quick run, Rei?’‘More than you know. How do we escape the house?’
[Reggie]Sometime later, I exited the in-between at the same point I’d entered it. I wandered down the path and wondered how long I’d been gone. For me it was only a few hours, but I knew time could pass differently. It was at least afternoon, so there was hope time had stayed the same. Then I remembered the last time fluctuation in the fae realm had lost me three days. That would really fuck up my timeline.Running, I headed for the Alpha house. I stumbled a little when I stepped on a sharp stone and ended up crashing into someone. We fell to the ground and tumbled for a few feet.“Holy fuck! Will you watch where you’re going!?” I shouted.
I wanted to tell them I wasn’t going anywhere, but it wasn’t wise. The Morrigan had been right, giving too much information wouldn’t be helpful. By tomorrow evening, they’d know everything. I’d have a lot to answer for. They knew I had my memories back. Maybe I could work with that to make them feel a little better.“I remember my life before. Hiding what I was. Fearing what could happen. Knowing the safety of a lot of people depended on me. My male mate is a sweet, caring, misunderstood man. My female mate is strong, beautiful, and deeply wounded. When we were sepa
