A Siren's Education

I spent a little over an hour laying out in the sun with my eyes closed. I couldn’t believe a time like this could exist in my life. There was no smell of death or despair. No one forcing me to service them during my sun time. The only screaming was from children playing in the distance.

A presence came up behind me. The scent was familiar. I worked to calm myself before opening my eyes.

“It’s okay, kid. Just me comin’ to tell you, your bath’s ready. I got
