Narek's POV

“You are walking too fast,” I say finally, forcing my voice to remain steady, because the silence has stretched long enough to become uncomfortable, and I refuse to let it choke me.

Raphael does not stop, does not even slow down, but I see the slight tilt of his head that tells me he heard me.

“Keep up,” he replies, his tone flat, and I exhale slowly, resisting the urge to roll my eyes.

“Do you always act like this after someone saves your pride?” I ask, letting a hint of amusement

Torin's POVI sat at the head of the long table while the elders continued dragging the discussion from one issue to another, their voices echoing heavily through the meeting hall as if none of them understood that my patience had already worn thin hours ago. The reports before me remained untouched while one elder kept going on about trade routes and another complained about the shortage of silver ore coming from the eastern merchants. I rubbed my temple slowly, forcing myself to stay seated while my wolf growled restlessly beneath my skin.Ever since Nia left for Dark Crest Moon under the excuse of the peace treaty, my mind had not remained still for one moment. Every hour felt wrong. Every silence felt suspicious. Even when I tried convincing myself that she could handle herself, another part of me kept remembering the pale look on her face before she left and the way she smiled while obviously hiding pain from everybody around her.One of the elders cleared his throat loudly befor

  • The Demoted Luna    Chapter 68

Darren's POV The moment I stepped out of the dungeon, the cold air outside still did nothing to cool the rage burning through my chest, and every step I took through the hallway felt heavier than the last because no matter how hard I tried to focus on the present situation, my mind kept dragging me back toward the image of Nia lying unconscious in her own blood while Kiera cried beside her.I could still feel her blood on my hands.Even after washing them twice. It remained there in my head.Darien walked quietly beside me, his expression calmer than mine, though I could tell he was equally disturbed by everything that had happened. The guards standing along the hall immediately bowed their heads as we passed, their eyes carefully avoiding mine because word had already spread through the pack.Nothing remained hidden for long in a place like this.Especially not blood.“Gather the council,” I ordered coldly without slowing my pace.Darien glanced toward me briefly.“Right now?”“Yes.

  • The Demoted Luna    Chapter 67

Darren's POV I was already halfway down the corridor toward Nia’s quarter when the scream tore through the air so sharply that my entire body froze for one terrifying second before instinct took over completely. The sound was not normal. It was horror.Pure horror. My heart slammed violently against my chest as I broke into a run, my boots striking hard against the polished floor while the guards around the hallway jumped aside immediately. I could already hear another set of footsteps approaching from the opposite direction, and moments later Darien appeared from the turn ahead, his face tense the instant our eyes met.“That came from Nia’s quarter,” he muttered sharply.I did not even answer him.I was already moving faster.Another scream followed, weaker this time, mixed with sobbing, and something cold twisted violently inside my stomach because I knew that voice.Kiera.The doors to Nia’s room were wide open when we got there, and the moment I stepped inside, everything around

  • The Demoted Luna    Chapter 65

Nia's POV The walk back to my quarters felt like a journey through a frozen wasteland, even though the evening air was still clinging to the warmth of the day. Every step sent a fresh wave of stinging heat through my side where the stitches pulled against the raw edges of the gash Darien had given me, but the physical pain was a distant, secondary concern compared to the weight of the parchment hidden against my skin. I kept my hand pressed firmly over the area, appearing to the passing guards as a wounded woman cradling her injury, but in reality, I was protecting the leverage that would finally begin the collapse of the walls surrounding me. When I reached my door, I paused for a single heartbeat to steady my breathing, pushing through the threshold and sliding the heavy wooden bolt into place behind me with a decisive click.Kiera was already there, pacing the small confines of the room with an agitation that made her movements look jerky and frantic in the low light of the singl

  • The Demoted Luna    Chapter Sixty Four - You're Annoying

Nia's POV The scent of copper and the sterile bite of medicinal herbs clung to the back of my throat as Darien hauled me through the infirmary doors, his fingers digging into the flesh of my upper arm with a pressure that bordered on punishing. He did not speak a single word as he steered me toward an empty examination bed, his jaw set in a line so rigid it looked as though it might snap under the strain of his own suppressed fury. He forced me down onto the thin mattress with an aggressive shove that sent a jolt of white hot agony through my side, making my vision blur as the fresh gash there began to weep through the temporary bandage I had pressed against it. I hissed through my teeth, my hand flying to the wound that he had inflicted less than twenty minutes ago when our sparring match turned from a display of skill into a calculated venting of his pent up frustrations."What kind of stunt were you pulling back there in front of my brother, Nia?" Darien demanded, his voice dropp
