Torin's POV

“Thank you,” I say, my voice quieter than I intended, and I notice the way her lashes flutter just slightly as if she did not expect it, which only makes something tighten in my chest.

For a second, the room feels too still, and then I turn my gaze toward Raphael, because if there is anyone who needs to speak now, it is him, and I let my eyes harden just enough for him to understand that I am not asking.

“Do you have something to say?” I ask, tilting my head slightly as I watch him

Torin's POV “Thank you,” I say, my voice quieter than I intended, and I notice the way her lashes flutter just slightly as if she did not expect it, which only makes something tighten in my chest. For a second, the room feels too still, and then I turn my gaze toward Raphael, because if there is anyone who needs to speak now, it is him, and I let my eyes harden just enough for him to understand that I am not asking.“Do you have something to say?” I ask, tilting my head slightly as I watch him.Raphael does not answer immediately, and that alone tells me more than words could, because this is a man who has never struggled to speak his mind, not even when it cost him, not even when it caused fights that nearly tore the pack apart, yet now he stands there with his jaw clenched and his nostrils flaring as if he is fighting something within himself. His fingers twitch at his side, and then he exhales sharply, dragging a hand through his hair in a rough motion before finally looking at Ni

Nia's POV I could feel Raphael’s gaze on me long before I turned to face him fully, that sharp burning intensity that carried years of anger, years of grief, years of unanswered questions that had been left to rot without closure, and even though my chest felt tight and my body still carried the strain of everything I had endured, I did not look away.“I know you do not believe me,” I said quietly, my voice steady even as I held his gaze, watching the way his jaw tightened and his fingers curled slightly at his sides.Raphael let out a short breath that almost sounded like a scoff, his head tilting slightly as though he was trying to understand why I would even attempt to speak further.“Then why continue?” he asked, his tone edged with disbelief. “Why stand there and keep talking when everything you are saying sounds like another layer of lies?”I inhaled slowly, letting the air settle in my lungs before I spoke again, because I knew that what I was about to say would not be easy fo

Nia's POV I remained where I stood, my fingers loosely clasped in front of me even though there was a faint tremor beneath the stillness, and I kept my gaze steady on Torin while Narek moved slightly to the side, already shifting into that familiar state where his mind began mapping out strategies, routes, outcomes, and consequences. The room felt smaller than it had a few moments ago.Charged with something that had not been there before.Torin exhaled slowly, his hand resting against the table as he leaned into it just slightly, his eyes still locked on me as though he was trying to measure every word I had spoken, as though he was weighing truth against instinct.“If the third son is truly behind this,” he said, his voice steady but lower now, “then we cannot afford to wait for him to make another move.”I inclined my head slightly.“We cannot,” I agreed.Narek stepped forward, his arms crossing loosely over his chest, his gaze thoughtful.“The wolves temple is not an easy place t

  • The Demoted Luna    Chapter Forty Five - The Third Son

Nia's POV I could feel it before I even stepped fully into the room, that subtle shift in the air that always came whenever eyes turned toward me, whenever questions lingered unspoken yet heavy, and even though my body ached beneath the layers of fabric wrapped tightly around me, I forced my lips into a gentle smile as my gaze settled on Torin. The pain sat deep, not loud enough to break through my composure, yet persistent enough that every breath carried a faint reminder of what I had done, of what I had given, and I refused to let it show.Torin’s eyes did not leave my face, and there was something in his expression that made my chest tighten just a little, something that felt like relief tangled with suspicion, like he was trying to read through me, trying to peel back the calm I had carefully placed over myself.“Nia,” he said, my name leaving his lips slower this time, as though he was testing it, as though he needed to confirm that I was truly standing in front of him and not

Torin's POV I had lost count of how many times my fingers had tapped against the armrest of the chair, yet the sound still echoed in my ears as though the room itself was mocking my impatience, and even though I forced my shoulders to remain still, there was a tightness in my chest that refused to ease, a quiet pressure that had nothing to do with the poison that had nearly taken my life and everything to do with the silence surrounding her absence. Two days.It had been over two days since I woke up, and not a single solid answer had been placed before me, not a single explanation that held weight, not a single confirmation that could settle the unease that had taken root in my mind, and the worst part of it all was that I knew something was wrong, I could feel it in the way the air moved through the pack, in the way the guards avoided holding my gaze for too long, in the way every report felt incomplete even when it was presented as thorough.Where was she?Why had she left without

Darren's POVI walked into the main hall with my shoulders squared and my expression set in a way that gave nothing away, yet beneath that calm surface there was a steady tension coiling through me, tightening with every step I took toward the long table where the High Council was already seated, their presence filling the room with a weight that was impossible to ignore. The air felt different.Charged with something unspoken.I could feel Darien beside me, his steps measured, his silence deliberate, and I did not need to look at him to know that his mind was already working through every possible angle of what this meeting could mean, just as mine was doing the same.We stopped at the head of the table.Every gaze turned to us.I let my eyes move across each of them slowly, taking in their expressions, the subtle shifts in posture, the faint tightening of lips or narrowing of eyes that spoke more than their words ever would, and then I pulled out the chair at the head of the table a
