13. An intense gratitude

★ELAINE'S POV★

Several thoughts raced through my mind as I sprinted toward Beta Adrian. Is she dead? What's wrong with her?

With each dreaded step taken toward the Beta, my heart was thumping rapidly against my chest. At this rate, it might as well jump right out. My breathing shuddered and the sole of my feet was hurting from the prick of sand, yet, I didn't mind.

“Moon Goddess, just this once. Please save Tania for me.” Tears rolled down my cheeks as I continued to make my way toward Beta Adrian. “I will no longer blame you for everything if Tania survives this."

By the time I got closer to Beta Adrian, I froze.

The relief, the happiness, the excitement, and the profound gratitude that coursed through my veins were enough to get me tearing up again. Alas, Tania was still alive, but she had bruises on her knee and arms. I guess that was why Beta Adrian had to carry her.
