I felt the bond finally release from me, my soul felt lighter, free. And wait, did I get stronger again??? I looked as my ex-mate screamed in pain and doubled over. Hm, too bad he didn’t feel the pain of blacking out too.

The ass.

“You... accept....” My dad started mumbling as my dad’s beta, Phil dropped the book he was reading.

“YOU REJECTED HER?!?!” I heard my brother roar and in a flash he grabbed Mason by the collar and slammed him into the wall. “YOU MOTHER FUCKER!!!! I WARNED YOU!!! I’M GOING TO KILL YOU!!!!”

I looked as a wave of fear washed over Mason as my brother raised a fist. “Wait, Wyatt, he has to look presentable to his new chosen mate.” I muttered as I walked past them.

“Chosen mate???” Phil gasped. “What?! You denied a sacred bond for a chosen bond!?”

Mason had nothing to say and couldn’t even lift his head.

“GET OUT!!!” Wyatt screamed as he ripped open the door and flung Mason outside. “YOU WORTHLESS PEICE OF SHIT!!!”

I felt a comforting hand on my shoulder and looked to my mom who was standing there looking at me with sadness in her eyes. Wait, no. I can’t break down here. Not now. I drew in a shaky breath and slapped a pained smile on my face.

“Wyatt, honey I’m going to go and check on your mom.” Delilah whispered as she walked to the door and gave him a small hug. “Call my phone when you are done here.” She nodded to me before opening the door but what was that? Was that a flash of jealousy I saw in her eyes? Yeah, cause getting rejected is every girl’s dream, right?

Oh hell, I really was rejected, wasn’t I? I tried again to stop the tears but this time my smile didn’t save me. I felt my dad’s arms wrap around me and I started to sob. “It’s okay Princess. Just let it all out. We’ll think of something...”

I nodded, slowly, the tears were stopping. “I know. I know, I just...” I looked around, Wyatt was standing by himself, looking at the floor. Wait, I wasn’t the only one hurting now, in pain. “Wyatt...” I started before walking over to him and giving him a hug. “I don’t care. It doesn’t matter what a stupid piece of paper says. You’re my brother. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow. You are my older brother.”

I felt his strong arms hug me back, other than my dad’s his arms always made he feel safe when we were growing up, protecting me from older kids who wanted to pick on the clumsy girl with bouncy curls. “Thanks Abby.” He whispered in my ear. “And I’m sorry about.... I can’t believe that ass was once my best friend.” He started to rub my back. “There is something else you need to do now. Since you couldn’t do it last night....” He pulled away and smiled at me. “You have to accept the title. In the pack link.”

My eyes widened, that’s right! I have to declare the title to the pack and calm their nerves. I looked to my dad for confirmation. “Do it Abigial, let out all of your power. No one will be scared of your power anymore...”

“Just focus, Abby.” My brother smiled and he gripped my shoulder. “And let it out.”

Slowly I opened the pack link again and everyone went quiet. I could feel a thousand eyes on me again as they waited for me to speak. My power exploded again, even stronger than I knew was possible and my parents beamed at me. <ATTENTION EVERYONE!!! MY NAME IS ABIGAIL HOPE WINTERS!!! AND FROM THIS DAY FORWARD I AM YOUR ALPHA!!! ALPHA OF THE LUNAR SNOW PACK!!!>

In my mind cheers of congratulations resounded, in the distance I heard the border guards howl in happiness, and I felt the other visiting alphas flair their auras in recognition. It was far from a normal ascension ceremony, and I was anything but prepared. But I had hope that everything would turn out okay.

After all, this was my destiny.

*Mason’s POV*

*The previous night*

“I, Mason Caldwell reject you, Abigail Winters as my mate.” As soon as I said those words I wished I didn’t. I could tell something was wrong with her, I could feel it through our bond... but I was in too much of a hurry to get this over with before I lost my nerve.

But when I saw the pain in Geegee’s eyes before they unfocused and she collapsed I knew how badly I screwed up. “Oh shit!” I screamed as I ran to her. “Geegee! Geegee I’m sorry! I... I take it back! I take it back!”

“Abby!” I just heard the screams coming from inside and I grabbed her up and ran inside. Ignoring all of the stares I hurried to Alpha Abraham as he was searching the dance floor. He looked at her in shock, Wyatt and the Luna were right behind him. “What happened?!” He growled.

“I don’t know.” I lied. “We were outside talking and...” My eyes widened, wait a second, Abraham wasn’t alpha anymore. His aura had changed drastically; I turned to Wyatt, no... his was the same. His face was pale as he looked at his sister in my arms. “Wait.” I glanced down at her, and I gasped. Her aura was changing... she was our new alpha!

What the hell did I do?!

“Get her upstairs!” Abraham growled. “We need to figure out what happened! PHIL!!! UPSTAIRS NOW!!!” He screamed at my father, it was true, his voice no longer held the same commands as they used to. I tried to open the pack link, but it was chaos, and all of them were saying the same thing.

They felt themselves attach to Geegee. I hurried upstairs, past her group of friends who looked worried. One of her friends, Stuart, glared at me for some reason. Did he know? Of course not, this agreement between me and the other pack just happened less than an hour ago.

“ONLY FAMILY ALLOWED ON OUR FLOOR!!!” Abraham declared, making everyone flinch and her friends stopped at the landing and looked up the stairs worriedly. I sprinted up the five flights of stairs and went to her room.

“Get her on the bed.” Luna Ellie said as she turned the key with a shaking hand. “Did someone call the doctor?”

Gently I laid her down and pulled her high heels off, flinging them against the wall. I glanced around, where is a chair?! I need to be here when she wakes up....

I need to make sure she hears me revoking my rejection.

“Let’s go to my office.” Abraham said as he closed the window. She still leaves that damn window open, it drives me crazy, and she knows it.

“No. I don’t want to leave...” I start before my dad interrupts me.

“Son, you are needed with us. Abby will be fine, and you need to get prepared. Because when she accepts the title, you will get stronger from your mate bond. We don’t need both of you passing out.”

“But...”

“Now Mason.” He said in his beta tone. Damn that still affects me. I look one more time at my mate before leaving the room. I just hope she will listen to reason and let me cancel the rejection.

*Mike* The bottom floor was chaos. Abby was in front of me as we went downstairs, people were rushing around and panicking. Glancing around there were huge gash marks on the walls, and dark red splashes of dried blood streaked the once white walls. The smell of blood was overwhelming, and an unmistakable smell of pepper was mixed in. Some of the doors on this floor were also marked with a giant bloody X. My heart pounded as I soon realized these were all the rooms of my friends! Where are they?! Are they okay?! In front of me Abby started to growl, I could feel her anger seeping through our bond, and an overwhelming protective urge began to radiate from her. “Oh, my goddess!!! MIKE!!!” I heard a sob from the side and felt a hug almost immediately. “Thank the goddess you are okay!!!” Emily cried as her and Stacey surrounded me. “We’ve been looking everywhere for you!” “Why was your link blocked? Are you hurt?!” Stacey began to look over me. “I’m fine.” I reassured them. “What

“Kitten?” I asked as I opened the door to the darkened room. “Where are you?” I closed the door quietly behind me and locked it before placing the key on a small table next to the couch. Immediately the intense smell of Abby filled my nostrils, making me slightly dizzy. Looking around, my eyesight eventually focused to the darkness. The room I was in was obviously a living room, with a large TV on one side of the wall with a couch and oversized recliner chairs facing it. Stepping over the strewn cat toys I started to walk in deeper. “Where are you?” I asked again, passing a small kitchenette... there was an empty wine glass sitting on the counter by the sink. Going further I reach a large bedroom. I freeze. This place... I’ve been here before... Slowly my head turns to the side looking for the giant windows I remember from my dream. Yes! There they are! What is going on?! Am I going insane??? “The two dollar tour...” I muttered to myself as I recalled the dream I had. The dre

*Abby* (Years earlier) “Wyatt??? Where are you???” I cried, looking around the darkening yard. The wind was starting to pick up, and my little 9 year old nose wasn’t strong enough yet to find anyone. “Wyatt?!” I cried again. “Come on! This isn’t funny!” I yelled as I ran towards the back of the packhouse where the storage room was. I thought I heard something behind me but as I spun around there was nothing. “Wyatt!!! Alright! You win! Game over, just come out!” My eyes started to fill with tears as the rain started to hit the back of my neck and the sky got even darker. A crash from the storage room startled me. “Hey, that’s not fair!” I cried as I pulled open the door. “We’re not supposed to play in here...” I sighed as I looked around the empty room. “Where...” I gasped as I felt two strong hands push me forward, as I landed hard on the floor, I heard laughter as the door closed behind me. “Hey!” I yelled as I jumped up and went to open the door, only to find it locked. My hea

Overhead, the clouds had started to roll in. The summer weather was starting to change from calm and warm, to windy and unforgiving. As a looming threat started to form everyone underneath the sky almost seemed... oblivious. Too wrapped up in their own struggles to see or predict what would happen in a few short hours. *Wyatt* Finally! The last of the payroll transfers are done! Before I go to start on the accounts payable for the weekly food budget a knock on the door snaps my concentration. “Come in.” I said curtly. The door opens slowly, and Mason comes inside. “Hi. Wyatt... I...” “Beta.” I corrected him. “And what do you want, Mason?” He came in, looking around at once was supposed to be his office, passed down from his dad, and his dad’s dad. But now it wasn’t. It was mine. “I... need help.” He admitted, his head down. “I... know I messed up. I had the world and threw it away.” I remained silent, letting him admit his sins. “But. I want her back. I NEED her back. I d

  • The Destined Alpha   Chapter 44 What is Really Going On?

“There’s nothing going on!” I said a little too forcefully as I grabbed the plate. Mariah just looked at me with an amused expression. “I mean it!” “Uh huh. Like I said, there’s nothing wrong with it. Whatever ‘it’ is. I just don’t want to see you get hurt, Abby.” She sighed. “I mean, like I said he hasn’t talked about his past, and he is probably over 18. What if he finds his mate? What if there are some skeletons hidden deep in his closet? I just want you to be careful.” I sighed. “I know. Just... there is nothing there... really.” “But you want there to be?” “I didn’t say that!” I said as I nearly ran from the kitchen, my face burning. As I hurried out, I could faintly hear Mariah chuckling behind me. Damn it! But... is it true that both her and Brian can tell there is something between me and Mike? If that is true, then who else??? Secrecy is so important now, even though it kills me nearly every night it is to protect Michael... As I got closer to my office I breathed

  • The Destined Alpha   Chapter 43 Luna Ellie

“Luna...” I started before immediately looking down at the floor. “Ni-nice to meet you, Luna.” “You as well, Michael.” I heard her say. “But you don’t have to study the floor so intently.” Slowly I tried to look up, but it was hard. Her aura was strong, stronger than the Elder. But that was to be expected, she was the Luna, a higher position than the Elder. “Mom, you’re back early. I thought you were still helping Grandpa....” Abby started. “Not to worry, Dear, we got that problem all straightened out quicker than we expected.” She said in a cheery voice as I felt her enter the room, closing the door behind her. “I hope I wasn’t interrupting anything...important?” She giggled. “Uh! Mom!” Abby said flustered and I finally diverted my gaze from the floor to her. Her face was flushed a deep red. I heard the Luna sit in the chair across from us and I looked towards the open window behind us. It's not like I was trying to purposely avoid her gaze, but it was like an invisible f
