POV: Seraphina Vale
“What do you mean I’m a werewolf? An Omega? In heat?” I said all at once in disbelief. I sat up like I’d been burned by the sheets of the bed.
Lucien stood there calmly, like he had just told me the sky was blue. He leaned against the counter, arms crossed, adjusting his hair backwards.
“You heard me,” he said. “For some reason, you’re changing. Your body’s reacting. That craving you’re feeling? That’s your first heat.”
I blinked fast. “No. No no no. This is stupid. I can't believe I'm here listening to a wolf trying to make me believe I am one of his kind.”
"Oh really? You still think I am talking trash after I showed you myself as proof that werewolves exist." He muttered, annoyed.
"Many would die to see me in my true form...yet you saw it freely...casually and you don't care."
I tried to soft-pedal to avoid aggravating him to decide to kill me. "I just mean...it's fine if you're a werewolf...you're a handsome and attractive wolf at that... but me? Nope! I am 100% human...and I am totally sure of it."
“You passed out twice. You’re sweating profusely. Your heart is racing and you can’t sit still...oh and I guess your thighs...inbetween your legs...they are aching.” He lifted a brow. “You’re an Omega, and right now, your body wants to mate.”
My face flushed hot. I held my face with my two hands trying to cover my cheeks up. To me, I was just a lady who was looking at the most handsome man in the world, upclose. I mean who wouldn't blush or maybe....
I got annoyed with myself and tried to get up, but my legs wobbled. I stumbled toward the door, but stopped midway, holding the edge of a table. My thighs were really aching and trembled.
“I’m not... I’m not one of you,” I whispered. “I’m human. I have always been human.”
Lucien walked closer, slowly taking his time to observe me more. Then he asked. "What's your name?"
"You don't need to know." I snapped.
He chuckled in disbelief. "I could kill you here....right now...if..."
"Seraphina! My name's Seraphina." I cut him off.
"Are you sure? You know who I am and the kind of influence I have...if you lie to me...I'll make sure you die mercilessly in my hands." He threatened, sliding a hand down my face.
"I'm sure...I'm sure...my name is Seraphina Vale....I swear!"
He smiled and said softly this time.“I can help you...Seraphina."
I looked at him, eyes wide. “Help me?”
He smirked. “Relieve the pressure... Soothe the ache...relieve you of your cravings...I don’t mind. Plus... you’re hot.”
I shot him a death glare. “You think I want you to...? Oh my God! You’re disgusting!”
He chuckled, then came closer to my face, amused. “You say that, but your scent’s already reacting to mine. You’re practically pulling me in.”
“Shut up!” I shoved him hard. He didn’t even flinch. I hit his chest again and again, but he just grabbed my wrists and held them gently, lowering them down.
“You don’t understand what’s happening. But your body does.”
“I don’t care,” I snapped. “I’m not one of you. I’m not some animal. I’m not a monster.”
His smile faded. “We’re not monsters, Seraphina. We’re an evolved breed of wolves that can shift from wolf to human, vice-versa. Big difference.”
“No,” I said, trembling. “You all should be extinct. All of you. You kill people. You hide like cowards. You eat humans...”
“Rogues do,” he cut in sharply. “Not all of us. Don’t confuse what you saw with what I am.”
I backed away, pressing my body into the wall, feeling heat flood through me. It was unbearable. My skin was on fire. My thighs ached the more and my heart beat was so fast I thought it might burst.
Lucien moved to the drawer behind the bar and pulled out a silver pill bottle. He tossed it gently onto the couch.
“Suppressants,” he said. “They’ll calm the heat....makes it easier...for both of us.”
I looked at the bottle like it might bite me. “I don’t want anything from you.”
“Fine! Then suffer.”
He turned, hands on his hips, now pacing.
“Do you think it’s easy for me?” he snapped. “You think I’m not fighting instincts? You think I don’t smell you from across the room and want to tear everything apart to get to you?”
I froze. 'Tearing every part of me?' That wasn't what I wanted...I wasn't ready for heaven yet. He looked serious while saying it so I knew he wasn’t joking.
“You’re not just some girl, Seraphina,” he said, voice lower now. “You’re dangerous...to me...to everyone. You’re like a pup...a ticking bomb, and you don’t even know it.”
Tears pricked my eyes again cause all this wasn't making sense. At that point,
I couldn’t breathe. I quickly rushed to the couch and grabbed the pill bottle with shaking hands and downed two without water. He walked to the door, opening it without looking back. “You need to leave.”
I looked up at him, confused. “What?”
“Go,” he said, still facing away. “Before I stop being a gentleman.”
Immediately I heard that statement, I bolted out as fast as I could. I ran through the hall barefoot. My heels were gone and my heart felt like it was breaking my ribs.
I didn’t stop until I hit the street, the cold air slapping my face and body.
And even then… I still burned. But one thing I was sure of now; the fact that werewolves existed and they were the cause of 80% murder crimes around. I had to do something about it...kill them all to save humanity.
Chapter 11 – “The Rogue HouseLucien Kael's POV“We’re close,” I said, my boots hitting the hospital floor hard.Ayla was beside me, sniffing the air like a bloodhound in wolf skin. She was he only warrior with that talent hence why she is among the top five best warriors. Two of my warriors flanked us...Orion and Dax, both alert. When we reached the hospital hallway, her scent hit me like a truck. But it had a mix of fear, sweat, heat and blood.“She was here,” Ayla growled. “Not too long ago.”We stopped outside the emergency treatment room as the door opened slowly. I sighted her detective cop mate Marcus laying unconscious on a bed. He was bandaged and pale, but he was alive.“Sh*t,” I whispered, stepping closer. The machines beeped quietly. A nurse tried to stop us, but I held up a fake badge. Our faces had black face masks over our nose and mouth so people couldn't easily notice our true identities.“Check the cameras,” I ordered Orion. He was already at the wall console. He ha
Seraphina's POV"Seraphina?"I heard a voice before I opened my eyes."Hey... you awake?"My eyes blinked open slowly.Everything was too bright. The ceiling was white. The lights filled the whole room. Then someone came into sight."Marcus...?" I whispered. He leaned close, a big smile on his face. "Oh thank God. You scared me half to death!" He hugged me tight...very tight."Ow...Marcus! I'm still alive, not a teddy bear."He laughed and pulled back, looking like he wanted to cry and smile at the same time. "You had me so worried, Sera. You don't know the kind of things that have crossed my mind today... ""You're a drama queen and worry too much." I blinked, looking round. "Where...am I?""You're at the hospital. I brought you here."I looked around again...then realization hit me. "What happened?"He scratched the back of his neck and sat beside me. "Okay, uhm I didn't want to be the person to tell you and you might not believe me if I said it but... you kind of lost it.""Lost it
POV: Lucien Kael “Get away from her! Did you get her drunk or high on something, just to take advantage of her?” He stormed in and shoved me hard, but I didn’t budge.“You don’t have any idea what's happening...be careful what you say to me...,” I said quietly, holding back a growl.“She’s human!” he shouted. “She’s not one of you...she's not yours....to do as you please!”“She’s not yours either...besides you're extremely lucky as a human...humans who know about us don't live to see the next day.”He didn't look scared. We stared each other down like animals ready to bite. I couldn't kill him cause he was the only who could get her away from me. And she would overreact if she finds out we killed him. "She's fine there is nothing wrong with her...she's just very horny." I added. His eyes went wide open. "What? Seraphina is never like that...you must have done something to her." He quickly reached for her again. "Hey! Sera....Sera."She was restless and coiled up. But then she reach
POV: Lucien Kael"You want to make him jealous?" I whispered against her ear, feeling her whole body press into mine. She was getting warm again...too warm...Actually she was burning and her scent had changed. It became more intense, sweeter, and intoxicating. She was slipping into heat again....because of being close to me. This was not good...not here. I quickly looked round and I knew the wolves present had sniffed her already. She even caught the attention of the elder hosting the party. She looked like he had just sniffed heaven. She didn’t say anything, she just let out a shaky breath as her fingers curled slightly into my chest, and she couldn't look up at me. But her ex...the idiot...was still staring at us from across the ballroom.I turned, still holding Seraphina close. “Come on, cutie... I said louder, for him to hear. “Let’s dance.”We danced slowly to the music, drawing attention. People wondering wich lucky lady was in my arms so affectionately. But I didn’t care. In fa
“So this is our target?” I whispered to Marcus as we stood at the edge of the ballroom, pretending to admire the chandelier.Marcus nodded, sipping from a glass of champagne he hadn’t touched. “Big icon...Old money...Name’s not on anything directly, but controls everything behind the scenes.”I scanned the crowd to find him. I noticed that he was wearing fancy clothes and also wearing smiles with people flocking around to have the privilege to greet him.“He looks like royalty,” I muttered. "Royalty with a lot of skeletons in the cupboard..."Marcus flinched towards my direction. “Don’t say that too loud...someone might actually be one.”"But I'm not lying, I'm just stating facts." I rolled my eyes."Yes true...facts that could get us killed or worse turned into dead bodies that can heal."We both chuckled then after five minutes we split up. Marcus took the east wing; I moved toward the main lounge where more deals were happening than drinks. I scanned the area and my eyes met Damian
“You disappeared for two whole days, Vale. What kind of excuse do you have for that?” Captain Moore’s yelled across the briefing room.I stood stiff, clenching my hands. My mouth was dry, and the taste of suppressant pills still coated my tongue. “I have an explanation,” I said carefully. “But you might not believe it.”The rest of my team looked at me; some curious, some annoyed. Marcus just looked worried.“You know the claw mark murder case...I went undercover to follow a lead to find out who the rogue killer is,” I said. “But it turned out that he was not just a man. He was something else. He was...” I paused. Everyone leaned in anticipation. “He was a werewolf.”“You’re telling me a what killed the man?” my supervisor asked, frowning like I’d just spoken in alien language.“A werewolf,” I repeated. At first everyone was quiet. There was total silence in the room. Then, snorts and laughter came in after.“Seriously?” one officer muttered. “You drunk again, Vale?”My boss leaned
