AZZURRA

I should stop this. I should push him away, remind him that his mother was still in the house, that this was reckless and impulsive, that this was the worst idea I’d ever had.

But when Adriano kissed me again, I forgot how to think.

His hands gripped my waist firmly, his body pressing against mine, and I could feel the heat radiating off him. My breath came out in shallow pants as I tried to steady myself, but it was impossible with him this close.

“This is a terrible idea,” I whispered against his lips, but my fingers betrayed me, curling into his shirt instead of pushing him away.

“Then stop me,” he murmured, his voice dark and full of challenge.

I didn’t.

A sharp gasp escaped my lips as he lifted me effortlessly and set me on the edge of his desk. Papers scattered to the floor, but neither of us cared. His hands slid up my thighs, parting them just enough to make my breath hitch.

Adriano let out a low, dark chuckle, his grip on me tightening. “I knew you wer

AZZURRA I had just had sex with my boss. Not just any kind of sex. The kind that left my legs shaking, my breath uneven, and my mind an absolute mess.I snuck down the hall like a fucking thief, my heart pounding with every step. If anyone saw me now, I’d be done for. I wasn’t even sure why I was sneaking. ĶI was a maid, I could technically go anywhere I wanted. But I felt exposed, like the evidence of what had just happened was written all over me.I slipped into my room and shut the door behind me, letting out a breath. I needed a moment to process everything.I had just fucked Adriano Giordano. On his desk. In his office.Holy shit.I flopped onto my bed, staring at the ceiling. What the fuck had I just done?I didn’t regret it. Not one damn bit. But still… this was dangerous. It wasn’t just that he was my boss, though that was bad enough, it was the fact that he was Adriano fucking Giordano. Cold. Ruthless. Untouchable. And yet, I had touched him.I let out a shaky laugh, running

AZZURRA When Andrea said we were going shopping, I had groaned. But when she clarified that it was for Mia, I was pacified. Shopping for a little girl was different. It wasn’t going to be the usual ridiculous spree where Andrea dragged me from one expensive store to another, making me try on things I would never wear. At least, that’s what I thought. Hours later, I regretted everything. Andrea shopped for Mia like she would shop for herself. Designer dresses, custom-made shoes, and accessories that I didn’t even think a child needed. She even got the girl a tiny diamond bracelet. “Isn’t this too much?” I whispered as Andrea casually handed over a black card to the cashier, ignoring the ridiculous amount on the screen. She gave me a look like I had just spoken blasphemy. “Too much? She’s been wearing the same ugly clothes for God knows how long. Let her be a little princess for once.” I sighed. There was no winning against Andrea when she was like this. After we had enou

AZZURRA The car was silent for a while as we sped down the road. The air smelled like gunpowder, and my hands were still shaking from the adrenaline.Andrea sat beside me, holding Mia close, while the guards in the front seat kept their eyes on the road.I exhaled slowly, leaning my head back. "Well... that was fun."Andrea snorted. "You call that fun?"I turned my head to look at her. "I've had worse days."She smirked, but there was something else in her expression. Something thoughtful.Mia, who had been shaking like a leaf, finally spoke up in a small voice. "They wanted to take me."Andrea tightened her arms around the girl. "They’ll never get that chance again, I promise."Mia nodded against her shoulder, but I could see the fear in her eyes.I reached out, brushing her messy hair out of her face. "You're safe now, okay?"Mia finally looked at us, her dark eyes unreadable. “They don’t just let people go. If they found me, it means they’ve been looking.”A heavy silence filled t

AZZURRA Andrea and I stood in front of Adriano’s desk like a pair of misbehaving children caught sneaking out past curfew. His face was thunderous, his fingers drumming an impatient rhythm against the dark wood.“Do I even need to ask?” Adriano’s voice was tight with barely restrained anger. “Or are you two going to explain why the hell you couldn’t leave this house and come back without causing trouble?”Andrea folded her arms, her chin lifted defiantly. “It wasn’t exactly our fault—”“It never is,” Adriano cut in sharply, his icy eyes pinning her in place. “And yet, every damn time, you somehow find yourselves in the middle of chaos.”I stayed silent, letting Andrea take the brunt of his wrath. She had the bigger mouth, anyway. His gaze flickered to me, unimpressed. “And you. You ditched your guards.”Andrea scoffed. “We didn’t ditch them. We just—”“Escaped,” Adriano finished for her. “Like reckless idiots.”Andrea’s jaw clenched, but she didn’t deny it.Adriano sighed, rubbing hi

ADRIANO The scent of blood hung thick in the cold night air, mixing with the salt from the nearby ocean. My boots crunched against the gravel as I approached the body, already knowing what I’d find but unwilling to believe it until I saw it for myself. Dante lay still, his body sprawled awkwardly on the ground, his throat slit clean from ear to ear. His eyes were open, frozen in an expression of surprise, his mouth slightly ajar as if he had been caught mid-breath. I exhaled slowly, kneeling beside him. I had lost men before. I had seen death in every imaginable form. But this? This was a message. A message written in blood. Matteo stood beside me, his stance tense. "Bastardi left their mark," he muttered, pointing to the crude symbol carved into Dante’s forearm. I already knew what it was before I even looked. Picasso.Rage coiled in my gut, tightening like a noose. The Picassos. The same gang that had tried to hurt my sister—twice. The same gang that had put a bul

ADRIANO The docks were quiet. Too quiet. A storm was coming. I stepped out of the SUV, my men moving like shadows behind me, weapons already drawn. The warehouse stood ahead, its rusted metal siding peeling under the damp night air. Dim lights flickered inside, barely illuminating the figures shifting in the darkness. Picasso’s men. I counted at least ten stationed outside, their stances loose, lazy. They thought they were safe. They weren’t. I turned to Matteo. "On my mark." He nodded, signaling to the rest of the men. The safeties on our guns clicked off in unison. The plan was simple—hit them fast, hit them hard. No survivors. I raised my hand. Then I dropped it. Chaos erupted. Gunfire shattered the silence, ripping through the night like a violent symphony. The first shots took out two men before they even knew what was happening. The rest scrambled, shouting orders, diving behind crates for cover. I moved forward, firing clean, precise shots, each one

AZZURRA Andrea had been acting like a tensed string, ready to snap at any moment. Ever since Adriano put her on a two-week punishment, the entire house had been walking on eggshells around her. She stomped through the halls, snapping at anyone who dared to talk to her. She rolled her eyes at every instruction given, and her door was shut more times than I could count. At dinner, she was always absent, making everyone assume she was sulking in her room like a child throwing a tantrum. At least, that’s what she wanted everyone to believe. Because tonight, as I passed by her room on my way to mine, something caught my attention, the soft creak of a window being opened. I paused, frowning. The house was silent except for the occasional murmur of men talking downstairs and the distant sound of a TV. But from Andrea’s room, there was nothing, no music, no movement, just the unmistakable sound of a window shifting against its frame. I stepped closer, pushing her door open just

ADRIANO The club reeked of sweat, alcohol, and desperation. The air was thick with cigarette smoke and the bass from the music pounded through my bones, making my already simmering anger pulse hotter. I wasn’t here for pleasure. I had a fucking job to do. Leonardo and I walked in, dressed in dark clothes to blend with the crowd, our presence unnoticed by the drunk fools grinding against each other like animals in heat. "Are you sure they’re making deals here?" Leonardo asked, scanning the room. "They wouldn’t be dumb enough to do it in my clubs," I muttered. "Which means they’re using someone else’s." There were whispers among my men, talk of drugs and weapons moving under my nose without my permission. I knew what happened to traitors, and soon, so would they. We moved towards the VIP section, where I had been told the transactions were happening, but before I could get far, something in the air shifted. A scent. Familiar. Sweet. Infuriating. I stopped dead in my tra

ADRIANO As I cradled Azzurra in my arms, her blood staining my shirt, I moved fast, every step fueled by the rage clawing at my insides. She whimpered, clutching my shirt weakly, but I hushed her, whispering, “You’re safe now. I’ve got you.”I reached the car, opened the passenger door, and gently set her inside, strapping the seatbelt across her trembling body. She tried to speak, but her lips were pale and cracked. I touched her cheek softly. “Don’t speak, please. Just stay awake, cara mia. Just stay with me.”I was about to shut the door when the sound of footsteps and laughter behind me made my spine stiffen.Three men stumbled out from the alley she’d come from, one of them wiping blood off his knuckles, another lighting a cigarette like he had no idea his life was about to end.“Yo,” the one with the cigarette called out, cocky grin on his face. “Drop the girl.”I shut the door slowly, turned, and looked at them.“Excuse me?” I said, my voice calm, deathly quiet.“The girl,”

ADRIANO “She asked for a day off?” Leonardo’s voice broke the quiet in my office, dry with disbelief as he leaned against the edge of my desk like he owned the place.I didn’t look up from the screen on my tablet.A red dot blinked back at me,Azzurra’s tracker. She was still at her childhood home, same coordinates for the last hour. Laughing, maybe, or catching up with her sisters while pretending she wasn’t mine.“Yeah,” I said flatly.Leonardo raised a brow. “And you said yes?”“I’m not a fucking tyrant,” I muttered.“Bullshit,” he shot back. “Since when do you heed requests? Especially from people who’ve disrespected you, or let’s say, scratched more than just an itch.”My jaw flexed. I didn’t rise to the bait.“I just thought she deserved a few hours,” I said instead, keeping my tone neutral. “She hasn’t asked for anything since she got here. I figured…” I trailed off.“You figured?” Leonardo asked, his voice sharp with amusement. “You figured she earned it?”“She’s with her fami

AZZURRA For days after that humiliating scene in the Luna’s office, I cursed myself. How could I have been so naive?I thought Adriano and I had shared something real beyond the lust, beyond the twisted circumstances that brought us together.I let myself believe the soft touches meant something. The way he looked at me like I mattered. The way he came for me when I needed him most. The way he held me.But in one moment, he stripped it all away with carefully chosen words that burned more than any wound Massimo ever left behind."She means nothing to me.""She’s just a body… useful for scratching an itch."I replayed those words in my head every single night, torturing myself. And every night, I vowed to stop caring. To pull myself together. To not let it get to me. But it always did. I was so angry. At him. At myself. At everything. I was such a fool. Then, one morning, I stood in front of his office door, hand clenched at my side, my heart pounding like a caged bird.I waited unt

ADRIANO After Azzurra stepped out of the car, I leaned back against the seat, letting out a breath I didn’t know I’d been holding. She probably regretted everything already. Hell, maybe I should too, but I didn’t.I felt…satisfied. Not just because I’d had her again. No. There was something twistedly comforting about knowing I was the only one who got to touch her like that. If—no, when she got pregnant, there’d be no going back. She’d belong to me. Permanently. But first… there was a more pressing issue to deal with.My mother. The Luna. She hated women like Azzurra.Poor background, too loud, too stubborn, and worst of all, irresistible and it wasn’t surprising.A woman like Azzurra had nearly destroyed my mother’s marriage once upon a time. Of course she saw the pattern, and as always, she acted fast.I walked straight to her office, jaw tight with irritation. The guards nodded and stepped aside as I pushed open the heavy wooden doors without knocking. She sat by the window, sippi

AZZURRA My smile fell, and my breathing shallowed.I met his eyes to see he was owning what he’d said completely, and something about the admission was so incredibly hot, it brought a rush of honesty from me.“Ditto,” I whispered.A groan resounded in his chest, and then he kissed me. Slipped his tongue into my mouth. Pulled my bottom lip between his teeth. Kissing Adriano Giordano made me feel more alive than any drug ever could.I tried to undo the buttons on his shirt, but he grabbed my wrists and stopped me. Something cold settled in my stomach.I worked myself free from his grip, and as if he hadn’t already denied me once, I tried again, only to get the same result.“It’s staying on,” he said harshly against my lips.He wouldn’t let me touch him, not really. And sitting here with my body on shameless display, it suddenly felt . . . humiliating. I pulled away, tugged my dress down, and reached for the door handle.“Fuck no,” he growled, grabbing my wrist. “You got me this hard,

AZZURRA An explosion of fire burst inside me, spreading from my stomach to the tips of my fingers. My blood sizzled. My body tingled. I couldn’t breathe. The press of his lips against mine hit me with such intensity my first response was to push him away. I brought my palms up to his chest to shove him as hard as I could, but when he nipped at my bottom lip and then licked it, soothing the sharp sting with his tongue, want filled my veins with boiling water. A moan traveled up my throat. My fingers curled, and I scraped my nails down his stomach, stopping at his belt buckle. He hissed against my lips and then slid his tongue inside my mouth. I felt that wet glide between my legs. Just the knowledge that his hands were on me sent a tremble through me, but the feel of them, the palm sliding over my hip to the curve of my ass; the gentle yet unyielding grasp on my throat incinerated any of the resistance left in me. I swayed toward him, my body melting against his. His lips le

AZZURRA "You look like shit by the way.” “Sorry Beta Leonardo for my shabby dressings," I said, then to myself I muttered as I pushed myself up, "I could have easily taken my bathe and dressed fancy while being locked up. Where’s your Alpha? Too busy doing other things?" What the fuck was I saying right now, I sound needy. His face darkened immediately. He grabbed my arm, a little too tightly. “Don’t talk about him like that. He is your alpha too.” I ripped my arm out of his grip, rolling my eyes. Whatever. Save your loyalty speech. "I am going back inside.” Leonardo’s eyes bulged. “Are you out of your fucking mind?” “People say that a lot,” I shrugged. He stared at me like I’d grown two heads. “You’ve just escaped that crazy bastard, and now you want to waltz back into his mansion?” “There are women and children in the basement,” I said firmly. “Locked up, starving. I’m not leaving them.” “No way,” he said, crossing his arms. “You’re not going anywhere near that place. A

AZZURRA I thought I was safe. I really did. Dressed as a maid, I had managed to blend in, and the woman who had walked in earlier didn’t even take a second glance at me.But just when I was about to sneak out again, the door burst open, and she stormed in.“You! Come here and help me dress,” she snapped, flipping her long black hair over her shoulder.I blinked. “Me?”“Of course you! Do you see anyone else in the damn room?” she huffed.Shit. I had no idea how to dress a rich woman. I’d barely managed to tie the stupid apron on myself.I followed her into her room, my eyes wide as I took in the giant mirror and the expensive perfumes on her vanity. She sat on a velvet stool and pointed to the fancy green dress on the bed.“Help me put that on.”I picked up the dress and stared at it like it was some kind of puzzle. There were way too many buttons, ties, and tiny clasps.“Are you new or just stupid?” she muttered. Before I could answer, or fuck something up, the door opened again. A g

AZZURRA The room they kept me in smelled of dust and mold. The window was too high for me to reach, and the door was locked from the outside. I sat on the cold, hard floor, pulling my knees to my chest. I had no idea how long I’d been there, hours, or maybe a day. My stomach growled, but they hadn’t brought me any food. My throat was dry, and my head hurt from the constant tension. I tried to think of a way out, but the door didn’t budge when I tried pushing it earlier. These bastards knew what they were doing. I wasn’t going anywhere unless they let me out. Eventually, I heard footsteps. The lock clicked, and two men walked in. One of them grabbed my arm roughly, hauling me to my feet. “Get up. The boss wants to see you,” he grunted. I yanked my arm free, glaring at him. “You don’t have to drag me like a damn animal.” He just smirked. “Keep talking, princess. See where it gets you.” The other man tossed a dress at me. It was red, flashy, and way too tight for my liking. “Put
