“Who are you?” I whispered breathlessly, my mind pondering with different thoughts when he walked into the room, maybe I was a coward for running away after he turned around.

“You didn’t listen, you tried to run didn’t you.” He asked, his tone low and calm, and his blue eyes filled with serenity, why is not he yelling at me?

“Who are you?.” I whispered again.

“Dominic.” He said, his name held power and authority, it was the perfect name for a man like him, he stood with so much confidence and power and when he moved closer to me, I didn’t dare to show him I was scared.

“You….you were going to hurt that man,” I whispered against my breath, the thought of him killing the man before he came here filled my mind, there is no doubt he did that.

He smirked for a moment before he leaned in. “You seem to care about so many people, people that are not meant to be cared for Aurora,” he said and I didn’t speak.

My eyes peered up and I glanced at him, if he could read my mind, he would see how terrified I was.

“I just want to go home, I promise I won’t tell anyone what happened, I would pretend like this never happened, please,” I whispered and he smiled.

“You are safer here- I am not,” I yelled cutting him off when he looked at me, that’s when I realized what I had just done, I yelled at the man who had murdered about two men in my presence maybe more before I knew him.

“You talk back, you yell, you don’t care if that’s going to cost you anything, you kissed me, sweetheart, you kissed me and you didn’t stop at that, you made yourself known as someone to everyone at that party.” He said softly.

“What do you mean,” I whispered when he moved even closer, and in a second, he wrapped his hand around me, forcing me to look at him, his eyes lingered on mine as if he was trying to understand what was happening and I didn’t speak.

His scent was strong making me weak in the knees and his stares were enough to make me want to listen to him; who was this man and why did he think he could get away with anything?

“Why were you at that party?.” He asked and I didn’t speak. “I won’t ask again sweetheart.” He whispered, his breath falling against my ears.

“I….” I was about saying when I went quiet, he knew, there was something about him that gave it up.

“You were a caterer at the party.” He whispered and I nodded.

Maybe it was foolish of me to agree to join the party after the old man had asked me to do that, I was only trying to be respectful.

“Please let me go, Dominic.” His name on my lips felt surreal, he pulled his hand away from me letting me go and a tear slipped out of my eye. “I can’t do this anymore, you need to tell me why I am here, who are you and why can’t I leave, I am not going to be your prisoner.”

“Unless you try to run away.” He mentioned and I shook my head.

“Tell me who you are,” I whispered and yelled.

“Dominic Ricci.” He whispered and a breath fell out of my lips, his eyes held honesty and that scared me the most, I could feel everything rushing back to me, the way everything happened.

The way Nicholas has fear in his eyes when he sees him, the way he killed and no one cared, those guards outside the apartment building, those guards in front of the bedroom door, the way he walked like he is authority, and the way his eyes demanded respect without him having to speak.

“I won’t hurt you.” Dominic finally said, I felt his hand touch me softly and I pulled away.

“You…you..you are him,, you exist,” I whispered against my breath, my chest tightening against my heart and tears pouring out of my eyes. “No it can’t be, you can’t be him, he died a long time ago.”

“I didn’t, it was all an elaborate story,” Dominic whispered and I shook my head.

Suddenly he pulled even closer to him and his eyes were on mine.

“You are going to have a panic attack if you don’t calm down.” He whispered, his voice demanding yet caring. “Breathe with me Aurora,” Dominic said.

I closed my eyes for a moment and I started to breathe, I couldn’t have an attack, I didn’t like the way it made me feel.

“Breath, focus on the breathing,” Dominic said, my mind being focused on his voice until I felt my heart pace slowing down and soon I felt better, my mind still had the same thoughts yet my heart had calmed down, my hands were no longer shaky and my breathing was back to normal.

“What do you want from me? I’m sorry I kissed you.” I whispered. “But I don’t want to be here, I can’t stay here”. I breathed out.

My heart raced against my rip-cage, my hands sweaty and shaky from the thought of dying.

“For your protection, you will and very soon you will understand that you are not going to run away again- but,” I whispered cutting him off when I went quiet.

“I was safe before I met you.” I breathed out.

“Yet you made one mistake, Aurora, you have two choices, you stay with me for thirty days and you don’t try and run away, you will be alive, fed, and protected, and whoever is after you will be dead by then or you leave and you get killed and so does your best friend.” Dominic threatened.

“Why do you even care if I die or not,” I asked.

“Because once you have touched me, you belong to mine and mine alone.”

“I have been speaking to you, and you seem deep in your thoughts.” Candice said, I looked away from the screen for a moment before I looked at her again. “Sorry about that, you know work.” I lied, I hated to lie to her, we have never lied to each other before, and it felt weird to do that. “Yeah right, I am still mad at you for leaving without me, the wedding is quite soon.” She said and I nodded. “In a week-actually.” She said, cutting me off, and I stared at her in my screen. “It’s this Saturday.” She said and my breath hitches, why are they moving it up, she still has a million thing to do. “No way, did you get pregnant or something.” I asked and when I see her smile; I knew she had, I felt the urge to scream out my lungs and when I did. I gave her a smile. “I know it’s sudden and if you didn’t leave, you would have found out the night I did find out.” She said, and I felt the urge to roll mud her at her, yet I didn’t. I have no idea how Dominic did it, but the

“Rules.” I asked when we settled inside the car, we were heading to the party and I had no idea why. If he wanted to protect me; why take me out of the house, why take me to a place filled with so many individuals. “Rules, if you listen to them, you stay alive, and I will reward you, if you don’t, you will die.” Dominic said, bluntly, he spoke about death like it was nothing. “I will listen.” I whispered, this may be my on my chance to get my phone. “Rule one, you are never to speak to anyone, to even the waiter, Rule two, you are mine, you don’t dance or smile at anyone, rule three, those people there, they are not good so you are never to go anywhere alone not even the bathroom.” “It’s a mafia party.” I said, and he didn’t speak, his silence has confirmed all my suspicions. “Why take me there, Dominic, if it’s not safe; why do I have to be there.” “It’s important.” Dominic said. I am going to play his game, as long as I will figure out the truth, this man knows a lo

“Can I have my phone?” I asked Dominic during breakfast, and he glanced up to look at me. “My friend will be worried sick, you told her I left for a work-trip and if I don’t contact her; she'll go to my workplace and ask, and she will get more worried.” I explained. “Fine.” He mumbled against his breath and my eyes widened, he didn’t tell me no, why didn’t he. “In return, you will accompany me to a party tonight.” He said, and I didn’t argue either. My mind was still on last night, the things I found, I have more than twenty days to figure out what’s going on, why he has those pictures and who are these people. After breakfast, Dominic has left; he was not himself today, the questions I had in mind were eating me up and I needed a single relief. “Can we talk?” I mumbled against my breath, walking into his room, it felt like walking into his personal hell, he was settled on the couch when he turned to look at me. “You decided.” He smirked, and I nodded, my feet felt wob

“That party, what was it all about? How do you know, Nicholas.” I asked. The only thing Nicholas would say was, he is using you, he wants something from you, he is a monster, before Dominic came, his mere presence from far was enough to make Nicholas leave instantly. “Let’s go home.” “Why am I really here, is this about me kissing you, I have a feeling there is so much more to it, so much you are not telling me about.” I breathed out. He turned to look at me, and he didn’t speak, if he wanted us to go back to the house, then we will, I didn’t speak to him as we headed back to the house, I didn’t enjoy the walk anymore, I wanted this to be over. “Are you going to tell me what’s happening?” I asked. “There are many bad people in this world, and some of them want to take everything from me.” He breathed out, his tone smoothing, and his eyes held emotions. What was he hiding? “If it’s about me, then I have to know Dominic.” “In twenty-seven d

“You dared to touch her after I warned you, I saw the way you looked at her and I tried to stop you, I should have known better.” Dominic yelled, a man that I have seen calm so many times was loosing his cool, and I could hear grunts of pain slipping out from Damon’s lips. “You are going to kill him.” I whispered against my breath, my eyes filled with tears; as I held on to the duvet. “Are you feeling sorry for him, sweetheart.” Dominic asked, his tone was dangerous low, his eyes filled with anger and my breath hitched, he didn’t stop. He continued to punch him, his blood splattering on the ground when I placed my hands against my ears and more tears streams down my cheek, the constant sound of yelling, and screaming caused my heart to skip a beat, I never liked being in the presence of violence, even the thought of it, sent chill down my spine. “Please stop, please stop.” I breathed out, my chest tightened, I could feel myself slipping into an attack when I felt someone to

“You are staring, get up from the floor, Aurora.” Dominic stated, and I looked away, he had a thousand scars on his body, I felt my heart tightened against my chest when my eyes burned with the thought of who did this to him. Dominic Ricci, the strongest man to every exist, stories about him was terrifying, the man who once controlled the city, he was the strongest mafia king to be known, the terrifying stories of how he killed those people, how he didn’t care that he did that, how he destroyed lives and how he was the king, until it was all over, the one story that changed everything, the story of how he was killed, at least that’s what everyone thought it was. How he died and let his empire crumble but it was all a lie. “What happened to you.” I breathed out, the tears that I tried to push back a tear that slipped out of my eyes, his scars imprinted on my mind when he turned to look at me.
