Third POV

Julian blinked his eyes open, confused by the unnatural silence around him. The soft ticking of the clock filled the room, but there were no footsteps, no distant chatter, no clinking dishes—nothing. He sat up slowly, rubbing his eyes.

"Where the hell is everybody?" he muttered, reaching for his crutches.

He limped down the hallway, peeking into room after room. Empty. The kitchen? Empty. The dining area? Deserted. His brows furrowed in confusion as he reached for the handle of a closed door and heard it—whining.

A long, drawn-out, dramatic groan.

“Ughhhh! I can’t do this anymore! Axel, are you trying to kill me?! This isn’t training, it’s a death sentence!”

Julian's lips twitched. He pushed open the door.

Inside, Gavin was slumped dramatically on the floor, drenched in sweat, his arms shaking beside a set of weights. Axel stood over him, arms folded, looking entirely unimpressed.

Julian burst out laughing.

“Oh my God, what is happening

Third POV“Gavin,” Julian called softly from the guest room, tapping his fingers gently on the headboard.Gavin peeked in, holding a folded towel and a lazy grin. “You called, Your Royal Sassiness?”Julian snorted. “Get in here, drama king.”Gavin dropped the towel on a chair and strolled in with that signature bounce in his step. “What now? You want me to read you to sleep again like I did when we were little?”Julian rolled his eyes. “Oh please, if anyone’s reading to anyone, it’s going to be me. Sit down.”Gavin dropped beside him on the bed, bouncing once and folding his legs under him. “Okay, now I’m suspicious. You’re never this soft unless you’re about to lecture me.”“I’m not lecturing,” Julian said with a tilt of his head. “Just… watching you. Observing.”Gavin groaned and rolled his eyes dramatically. “Please don’t say it. Not now.”“Say what?” Julian smirked. “That you’re in love with Axel?”Gavin choked on air. “I am NOT—okay maybe

Third POV“You two are impossible.”“You love it,” Gavin said with a wink.“Debatable,” Axel muttered, but his smirk gave him away.Julian leaned back, breathing in the smell of spices and sizzling garlic. “This is nice,” he said softly. “Feels… normal.”The kitchen fell quiet for a moment, just long enough for that statement to linger in the air. Julian looked at Gavin and Axel, the flour on the counter, the mess of ingredients, the playful chaos of it all. He didn’t have this often. A home. Laughter. The lack of fear.Gavin broke the silence with a mock sniffle. “Are you getting emotional? Are you gonna cry? Do I need to get the tissues?”“Ruin the moment, why don’t you,” Julian rolled his eyes.“That’s my job,” Gavin grinned, tossing a peeled potato into the air and missing the bowl by a mile.“Okay, okay,” Axel groaned. “You’re officially banned. Go sit down.”“Nooo!”“Yes. Go be useless somewhere else.”Julian laughed again, and a

Third POVCassiel stood still for a second, eyes narrowing behind the tinted windows of the black vehicle that had just pulled into the remote hideout nestled in the wooded outskirts of the state. The place was quiet—too quiet. He always hated silence; it was too often a precursor to betrayal.Enzo was the first to get out. He pushed open the heavy metal door, the rusty hinges groaning loudly as the scent of dust and old iron met him like a slap. Inside, the two prisoners—Eddie and Thomas—were bound but not gagged, seated on opposite ends of the dimly lit basement room. Their faces had aged in just a few days—stress, fatigue, and bruises wore heavy on them.Cassiel followed closely behind, every step deliberate and heavy. His boots clicked against the concrete floor like a clock ticking down. He said nothing at first, only stared at the two men. His stare was more suffocating than any rope or blade.Eddie, nursing a cracked rib and a bruised cheekbone, straightened u

Julian winced slightly as Gavin helped him to the top of the stairs, careful not to jostle his side where the stitches still tugged when he moved too fast. Axel trailed behind them, arms full of a folded blanket, extra pillows, and a heating pad tucked under one elbow. “This is the coziest room,” Gavin said, pushing open a white wooden door with his hip. “East-facing, so you get the morning sun but not that annoying afternoon glare. And the mattress? Trust me, it’s a cloud. I tested it after lunch yesterday.” Julian laughed softly as he was gently guided inside. “I feel like royalty. When do the violinists start playing?” “Don’t tempt me,” Gavin said with a mock bow. “I can arrange a kazoo quartet.” Axel set the pillow down and let out a small, weary breath, already used to their nonsense. “He’s been talking about you arriving all week,” he said. “Practically chewed through the floor waiting.” “Lies,” Gavin muttered, tossing a pillow

Third POVThe underground passage leading to the safe penthouse felt unusually long tonight. Each step Julian took echoed lightly, his crutches clicking softly on the smooth concrete floor. The passage wasn’t cold per se, but it was quiet… too quiet, like the calm before a storm. Only this time, it wasn’t a storm waiting at the end—it was his brother.Lucian walked a few paces ahead, his strides slow and careful to match Julian’s pace. Occasionally, he glanced over his shoulder to check on him, but Julian always gave a small nod that said, “I’m fine.” The stitches pulled a little with each step, but nothing he couldn’t handle. He’d walked through worse pain, and tonight wasn’t about pain—it was about reunion. The steel door at the end of the corridor creaked open with a hiss of pressurized air. Warm light spilled through the gap, along with the scent of grilled food and something distinctly citrusy. Julian raised a brow, surprised by the delicious aroma wafting toward hi
