Megan’s POV

I woke up with a pounding heart, Alexander’s whiskey-soaked kiss still burning on my lips.

The silk sheets tangled around me, his scent, woodsy, clinging to the air. He was gone from the couch, the empty whiskey bottle tipped over on the floor.

My dress from last night, that stupidly sexy silk thing, was crumpled by the bed, a reminder of how close we’d come to… something. I shoved the thought away, my cheeks hot, and dragged myself out of bed.

The Zeus mansion was waiting, and I already felt like a lamb in a wolf den.

Downstairs, the dining room was a war zone. The staff bustled around, their eyes sliding over me like I was dirt on their polished floors.

A maid, Clara, I think dropped a plate of toast in front of me, her lip curling. “Eat fast,” she muttered, barely loud enough to hear. “You’re not special just ‘cause you’re his wife now.”
