I just ended a call with Jade. She was supposed to accompany me to the opening ceremony of my jewellery shop next week, but she just informed me that she would be on her first business trip next week.

So I'll have to move the date to this week. I already sent out flyers and posts on social media and it gained a lot of attention.

" What do you think you're doing, young man?" I spoke, walking over to where he stood on the island.

He sighed." You wanted fried eggs, I'm trying to make it."

I chuckled, I dipped a finger into the bowl of eggs. I crunched my nose" Why is it so watery?"

He sprinkled salt on the beaten egg." Because I added water. It was a bit thick."

" You don't add water to eggs."I did the facepalm." You know what, get Noah back. Cooking is so not your thing."

He pouted. " Noah did mention he would like to continue working for me. He's doing fine now."

" Then bring him back." I beamed. I don't want a female House help, and Zayden doesn't want a male butter, especially young ones. His jealousy didn't let him hire any from the group of men who applied.

So it was settled, Noah would be coming back.

" How about we get a new place?" He suddenly said.

I blinked." A new house, why?"

He shrugged." Since we will be building a family soon, I just thought we should get a new place that suits your taste. It's alright if you don't want to."

I thought about it, a new house in a new environment sounds good." I think that's a good idea. Besides, there are some memories I'd like to leave behind here."

I cringed, remembering the time Tyrell sent those men to attack us and how Zayden ended them.

"Would you like to pick out the house? I'm cool with anything". He said and I nodded.

  I ended up making the eggs myself and Zayden helped with the preparation for the opening ceremony. 

  I noticed that he was always spacing out and his smile didn't reach his eyes. It has been like this since Paris. I don't know what's going on with him but I don't like that he was keeping it from me.

     And then, sometimes, I would catch him staring at me with pain in his eyes. Like he was hurting somehow.

 

The day finally came and I didn't expect the shop to be bustling with people on the opening day.

It was a three-story building, located at the heart of the city, on the busiest road in New Jersey. How Zayden got this location, I had no idea. 

   The front was made with see-through thick glass.  All the pieces of jewellery were imported from Italy and China. I'm pretty sure we were going to appear on TV later this evening, and I was excited about it.

I stood at the door with Jade by my side, smiling at our first batch of customers.

" Where did Zayden go?" Jade whispered at my side.

" He doesn't want to steal the spotlight so he's at my office upstairs."

She mouthed an ' oh' and we continued welcoming guests.

" These people are rich, I can smell it."  She remarked." you did a good job, Lillian."

I grinned; I'm loving the woman I was becoming, all thanks to my husband. I prepared a little something for him tonight, I'm going to make him scream.

  I had hired more than enough employees, so I didn't have to work or do anything. I'll just come around a few times to see how my business is going.

J&A Jewels is going to rise above others. I named it after my parents, I'm going to live up to their legacy.

   

I left Jade on the first floor and went to the top to meet up with Zayden. He was sitting on my chair with his legs propped up on the desk.

" Put your legs down, young man. That's disrespectful." I ordered, locking the doors behind me.

A smug look appeared on his face, but his legs remained on the desk. I went over to him and put his legs down myself then I straddled him.

He sighed deeply." My dad still wants me to marry Sage, he's going to put me in jail if I don't."

I stiffened, my blood running cold." And sage?"

" She.... she's..." He paused, his eyes gleaming with an unknown emotion." I'm just worried about us."

I sighed, clenching my fists." It's your mother's death he's using against you, isn't it?"

He nodded, placing his face in his palm." And those men Tyrell sent."

My eyes widened." What?"

" I don't know how he did it but he installed cameras in the house. He has complete evidence that I killed them."

I stood up, my heart hammering in my chest." Why would he do such a thing? He's your goddamn father!" I didn't realise that I was already yelling.

He grabbed my arms, trying to calm me down." Hey, you don't have to worry yourself about it, I'll take care of it."

I swallowed, realization suddenly dawning on me. If he goes to jail, it would be a life sentence; I can't cope with that. I can't let that happen.

" Sage is the one doing this right? That bitch." I cursed, clenching my fists.

He squeezed my hand, giving me a brief smile." Please don't worry about it. It's bad for the baby."

My eyes were beginning to sting." But...but you can't go to jail. What am I supposed to do if that happens, and then there's Tyrell and our baby..."

I was breathing heavily now, my mind racing over so many thoughts. I had grown to accept that the only one who could protect me from Tyrell was Zayden.

" Lillian", Zayden Whispered, turning fully to face me." Whatever happens, I want you to know that I love you, and I always will. I love you more than anything in this world l. You've made me a better person, better than I ever imagined."

He placed a hand on my cheek, caressing it. I bite down on the inside of my lip, trying so hard to bite back the tears." You're the only one that has ever made me happy. You took away my loneliness, you made me feel loved, you made me feel like I had a life. I don't deserve you; my life is too messed up for you to be in it, but I'm grateful."

I was already sobbing now. He cleaned the tears that had leaked from my eyes with his thumbs." At a point, I felt free, but now I feel like I'm trapped. He still has control over me as long as he has that evidence. I honestly don't care about what he does with them but I don't want to see you hurt. I'm tired of lying and keeping secrets from you. I don't want to hurt you more than I already have."

His jaw tightened like he was trying so hard to force words out of his lips. My chest was thrumming loudly, and even my hands were trembling slightly.

"Fuck, I already did. I want to be selfish and ask you to stay with me even though I don't deserve it. I don't want to lose you, Lillian. I can't lose you. The thought alone is suffocating."

" I ...I'm not leaving you, Zayden. It's for better or worse. No matter the crimes you've committed or if you end up in prison forever I'll still be by your side. we are going to have a family together, no prison bars will stop that from happening." I placed my hand over the one he had on my cheek.

He let go, running his hand over his hair in agony. He groaned while cursing. His face was turning red, and veins were popping up on his arms and neck.

I reached for him but he evaded it. My heart arched. I don't understand what was going on with him." Zayden, I promise you that no matter what happens. I'm not leaving you, ever!"

He gritted his teeth." I.... something happened some months back." He avoided my gaze. I don't like seeing him like this. He looked so helpless and frustrated; it was killing me.

" At that dinner with Wilder, when I didn't come home that night." He spoke, his voice barely a whisper.

I stiffened, my hands halfway from his shoulder. The room suddenly turned extremely cold as memories came flooding my mind.

" I...I slept with Sage and now she's pregnant."

The moment those words registered in my head, a sharp pain shot through my belly.
