A few days later after Zayden was discharged and we went to visit Brenda again. This time she welcomed us warmly. I'm a woman so I know when a fellow woman is trying so hard to mask her emotions. I could see the eye bags under her eyes. I could sense the sorrow and grief she was trying so hard to hide.

She probably had been thinking about how she was going to raise that little boy on her own.

" What's his name?" I asked as I sat down on the couch with Zayden sitting beside me.

The little boy was shy, as he kept hiding behind his mother. I got a good look at him once when Brenda pulled him to sit properly on the couch. He looked so much like Falco.

" His name is Frederick." She replied a warm smile on her face.

" Hi, Frederick." I gave the kid a playful smile. He lifted his small hand and waved at me. He didn't utter a word and just hid his face behind his mother's hand.

" He's very shy around strangers," Brenda noted.

It was cute though.

"I came to thank you again. If it weren't for your husband, well, my wife's situation would have been worse than him." Zayden spoke and I glared at him.

He just went straight to the point while I was busy trying to look for ways to soothe the atmosphere first. We were supposed to talk about random things so that Brenda would feel a little relaxed, but no, Zayden just had to ruin everything with his straightforward attitude.

Brenda only nodded, a sad smile on her face." You know, it's kind of hard to believe. I still think he'll work through that door any moment."

I felt her pain." That's the reason we are here. His body is still in the mortuary. He deserves a befitting burial at least."

She blinked, her eyes glistening with tears." Yeah, he lied to me you know. I should have known. At a certain point, things were rough for us; he hadn't gotten a stable job then or, should I say,y, started abducting people for money."

She paused, blowing on her napkin."When he suddenly started bringing home good cash, I questioned him. He said he got a good job that offered him advanced pay. I never knew that....that..."

She began sobbing softly again. I went over to her, placing my hands on her shoulders and gently tapping." It's not your fault, he did the right thing in the end. He knew it was wrong but he was willing to stop if only he hadn't passed on."

She raised her tear-filled eyes to look at me." How...how am I supposed to take care of our son alone? I barely have a job."

And that's where I come in. I'm going to give her a job at my shop." I promised Falco to look after you; he saved my life, so I owe him. I own a jewellery shop; you can come to work there anytime you are ready. That's the least I can do for him."

She stared at me again and then burst into tears." Thank you...thank you so much."

We stayed with her for a little while, making small talk, and then we both got up to take our leave. I gave her my card and phone number, I should be expecting her at my shop the following week.

Zayden sighed heavily as we walked over to our car." Falco should have done better, now that poor woman would be in pain for the rest of her life."

" Don't talk down on dead people." I glared at him as soon as I got into the car.." Besides, she's still very young; she's probably going to marry again or something."

He only shrugged." Yeah, but it hurts more when you've been lied to your whole marriage life. If Falco hadn't mentioned he had a family, then she would probably still be thinking he was still on that business trip or worse think he abandoned her." He turned on the ignition and we drove out of the lawn.

I rolled my eyes." Like you hadn't done that before."

He suddenly hit the brakes." What! No! I've never lied to you."

I turn to look at him, my face blank." Yes, you have, young man!"

He creased his brows." Uhh, no I don't think I've ever done it. Not once, not ever. "

I didn't beat about the bush and just went straight to the point. I still plan on punishing him even though we already sought it out." You lied about a sage. And kept that disgusting thing you did together a secret. And then you shamelessly made me spread my legs for you after you already played in another woman's tighs. That was insulting!"

I did not mean to raise my voice and sound angry. But it had been on my mind this whole time, and if I didn't voice it out, then a small part of me would continue to hold a grudge against him, and that wasn't good for our relationship.

He swallowed, his demeanour falling." Lillian...I...I..." He paused; his expression was extremely remorseful.

Now he was making that sad face and making me feel guilty.

I didn't respond, don't blame me. It's annoying to know that your husband had put his dick in another woman's cunt after which I stupidly spread my legs for him without knowing that he had fucked another woman.

The rest of the ride home was silent and depressing. I began regretting my words. It wasn't his fault, but here I was making a fuss after we already made up.

We didn't speak to each other till we got into the house. I couldn't take it anymore, so I decided to fix the tension I created between us, but he beat me to it.

" Lily, I'm...I'm sorry. It was uncalled for for me to actually....umm....I just, I shouldn't have done that at all..." He paused to take a breath." I was being greedy and unreasonable."

God, the expression on his face. I so much wanted to squeeze his cheeks right now." You know what? Let's forget about it, I shouldn't have brought that up. It's past now."

His expression remained the same." No..if you're not okay with what I did, don't keep it in. I don't expect you to be either and I feel awful about it every single day."

I stepped closer to him." I know that's why I voiced my opinion. I might not forget about it completely but I'm letting it go."

"I'm sorry; I regret it every day."

I smiled at him and patted his shoulders." No worries, just have it back of your mind that I'm still going to punish you and I'm pretty sure you already have an idea about what that said punishment would be about." I winked at me.

He groaned." Oh..come on."

I chuckled, turning on my heels to head for the bathroom. I needed a shower.

He followed me right till I stepped into the bathroom and began taking off my clothes.

His eyes glued to my body till the last piece of clothing dropped to the floor.

I suddenly felt self-conscious, my hand coming up to cover my enlarged tummy.

Great!

Now, I had stretch marks on my lower abdomen like the map of the United States courtesy of my daughter, who takes after her jerk of a father.

We confirmed it, and it turns out I saw it wrong. She had grey eyes just like her father's.
