MasukLorenzo's POV.
She wouldn't stop sniffling.
And it was getting on my fucking nerves.
I guessed that all the bravado from earlier had faded, leaving her in her original form- soft and weak.
I had walked into the bar to find her standing and yelling angrily at her dad. I couldn't care less about leaving them to sort things out. But I stood back, not wanting to deny myself the satisfaction of seeing someone, anyone at all, shout at Williams Morales.
I resumed my walk to claim my commodity when Williams started shouting back.
She was shocked when I told her she was going with me immediately, but she seemed to recover from that after some seconds.
She took her purse and gave the other guy beside her dad a curt goodbye. Then she moved away from the couch, looking up to meet my gaze in a way that said, ‘What are you waiting for?’
I chuckled, turning around to lead the way out of the bar.
Galileo already had the car waiting in front of the casino. Even he was surprised that we showed up so soon.
I, for one, had expected to have had to haul her over my shoulder or tie her hands and drag her into the casino.
So I was surprised- not in a good way- when I heard a sniffling sound from her a few minutes after we left the casino.
I turned around to see that she was just sniffling; there were no tears in her eyes.
And that was even more annoying than full-blown weeping.
“Can you stop making that sound?!” I yelled.
She didn't flinch, her eyes were fixed on the window beside her. Her arms remained folded.
Then she sniffled again.
“Are you deaf?!”
Another sniffle answered me.
But she looked at me this time.
Her blue eyes looked sleepy. She must have had some glasses of alcohol at the bar.
She blinked before her eyes went to the window again.
Then another sniffle followed.
Well, I tried.
If she insisted on sniffling or crying inwardly or whatever what she was doing was called, I'd give her a reason to go on.
“It's too early for all this drama, in my opinion. You know why? Your life has taken a turn for the worse; nothing can change that. I'm the only one that has the power- and I most certainly won't. So you still have many more years to be sad. Reserve your energy till then.”
Something about how she remained silent and didn't give any different reaction spurred me on.
“In case you're wondering about what happens next, let me shed light on it for you. You've become one of my possessions. I can put a collar around your neck and drag you around with a leash if I want. I can use you however I want. At the moment, I'm still considering different options.”
“Only my decision matters, not your tears or complaints. As a matter of fact, your complaints will only earn you punishment. Guess who determines what type of punishment you deserve? Me again. Trust me, I have the best ideas when it comes to that.”
I heard Galileo chuckle.
Of course, he knew.
She sniffled again.
“Not even your dad can rescue you. Speaking of whom, I'm sure he's forgotten all about you by now. Maybe your mother won't forget you, but she can't save you.”
She wiped a tear from her eyes, still not looking away from the window.
“Oops, daddy's little princess is heartbroken. You never knew your father was such a devil, did you? Not to worry, I'm a more vicious devil, so you shouldn't have too much of a hard time adjusting,” I told her as our hotel came into view.
I headed out, intending to show Williams revenge with my loans, but I came back with his only daughter.
How can I not be pleased?
I was only left with a question: What exactly do I do with her?
I could sell her to any of the nearby human-trafficking cartels.
Or maybe I could sell her to dealers in body parts. That would yield me more profit.
I sighed as Galileo drove into the hotel premises.
As I got out the car and she did the same, I realized that the idea of selling her wasn't so appealing.
The reason was beyond me.
Sasha’s POV.If Lorenzo came back to check up on me, I had no idea because my phone’s ringtone was what woke me up in the morning.About time, Jason.I rushed to pull it out of the pocket of my folded jeans.I blinked at the name on the screen. And then I did it again.Julia.I picked up the call swiftly.“Oh, my God! Sasha!” Her scream was enough to assure me I wasn’t dreaming. It’s really Julia.“Julia,” I breathed.“I’ve been worried sick about you! At first I thought your dad prolonged your Italy visit. But when I dropped by at your office on Wednesday and your secretary said you hadn’t resumed for the week, I became troubled. I’ve been going to your apartment almost every day. I wished I didn’t stop chewing you out about getting an international phone plan,” she rushed, her voice frantic.I sank into the couch behind me.Where do I start the damn story from?“I know, I’m sorry…how did you get this number?”“I ran into Jason at the bar tonight. He told me you relocated to Italy,
Sasha’s POV.Lorenzo kissed me.And I kissed him back.As I sat on the toilet seat minutes after he left, I could still tingles on the spots his lips touched.Damn.After a reminder on my period tracker app a few days ago, I had understood that I was hormonal. Although I didn’t go about kissing guys before every period, I knew my body enough to recognize the extra clinginess that came once in every few months. So, I had attributed my body’s misbehavior around Lorenzo to my being temporarily hormonal. Adding that to the embarrassment of whatever I said at the club - including the kiss I only suddenly remembered on Sunday night - I tried my best to avoid him. At least, until I could trust my body to cooperate with my brain. But the sigh that left my lips when we broke apart and the silly smile on my face when he went out of the room told me something I wished wasn’t true.My attraction for Lorenzo is as real as it gets.My thoughts about my preference for something softer instead of the
Lorenzo’s POVThis never happens to me.Never in the history of ever have I kissed a woman before she gets half-naked in my bed.My kisses were always a prelude to only one thing. The one and only thing for which a woman could be in physical proximity to me without a penalty. Even that wasn’t enough excuse except I invited the woman myself. But I broke that code myself on Saturday night. Hell, I’d been breaking codes by invading her personal space even before that night.I kissed her without the immediate thought of sex. I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t been thinking in that direction for a while, especially when she stepped into my room, looking like hot as blazes with that sexy hair of hers. But all I had in mind when I kissed her at the club was show her how beautiful she was.It was becoming upsetting watching her compare herself to every regular, phony woman who walked by.I had to draw her attention to the fact that they weren’t better than her. None of them would look half as ho
Sasha’s POV.The next time I opened my eyes, my formerly dark room was now bright. Too bright. The slight headache had morphed into painful banging.I didn’t even drink much.Or, did I?A heavy sigh left my lips at the mere thought of what nuisance I must have constituted in Lorenzo’s presence.Picking my phone from the nightstand, which, by the way, was last seen in my jeans pocket, I saw that it was eighteen minutes past noon.Phew!I shuffled out of my room, massaging my temple. At least, I have until tonight to think of facing Lorenzo. By then-“Good morning, piccola (baby).”Lorenzo’s voice cut through my thoughts, making me tear my hands away from my face.He raised a dark brow at me from the handle of the couch he was perched on.I cleared my throat.“Good morning.”“How do you feel?” The sincerity in his voice made me look directly at him. That turned out to be a bad decision. His black T-shirt was almost tota
Sasha’s POV.It was Saturday night, and my brain was in a frenzy over what to wear to the club. Lorenzo had arrived about ten minutes earlier and was waiting for me in his bedroom.I thought of asking Lisa if I could go shopping for a dress with Anne, but I discarded the thought because it would seem like I was so interested in clubbing with Lorenzo.Which I was not.Well, the tingly, bubbly feeling I felt at the thought of going out with Lorenzo had nothing to do with my brain and everything to do with my betraying body. But the unpleasant part of it all was that being alone with him wasn’t good for me. Not until I was confident that my body would cooperate with my head.Lifting my folded blue boyfriend jeans, my fingers landed on the only jeans I hadn’t worn yet. After another five minutes, I was in black boyfriend jeans that were mostly skinny, a sky blue crop top with short sleeves, and my silver sandal heels. I wasn’t the jeans-and-heels girl,
Lorenzo’s POV.I wasn’t just angry; I was frustrated. From the second my eyes landed on Sasha, I considered canceling the damn dinner. She looked hot as hell, and I had to stand back and watch others ogle her. Then, she passed that silent message to Matteo. When the fuck did they become so close?I wanted to pull my hair out when Jeremy moved closer to her. The asshole was going to take her hand or kiss her cheek if I hadn’t interrupted. Not even the thought of shooting him was enough to eradicate my anger at the thought of his finger touching an inch of her skin. The only moment of happiness was when she took the chair beside me without anyone telling her to.After moderating the introductions, during which I stressed Sasha’s position as my wife, I explained that the dinner was to welcome our consigliere, Alessandro, who just came back from a 4-week break.“A consigliere is a legal advocate. A lawyer, more or less,” Matteo explained to Sasha.Of course, he’d notice she didn’t underst
